Detailed Reviews
We were met by Geraldine [one of the owners] and asked if we would like a hard standing or grass pitch. We chose grass. There was plenty of space and it was screened off from the other parts of the site.
There is a lovely woodland walk right next door to the site and the lough is just a few steps from the main entrance. The café on site is a nice touch. We spoke to a few of the residents of the statics, all very very friendly and helpful - one guy even phoned a friend to get the name of a site for us for our next stop!
One suggestion for the owners: a couple of bins in the grass pitch area would be good.

Me and my family visited the campsite for one night. The owner wasn’t that friendly. We rang the owner and asked how much it was to stay there in the camper for one night. He replied “ 25 euro” we arrived at the campsite where he proceeded to charge us 48 euro instead of the 25 euro we were quoted. Not to mention you also had to pay to use the shower which was not told to us until we figured it out ourselves.however with all this said the location was great 5 mins outside mullingar town which is why I gave the campsite 2 star do not recommend.

This is a nice site with a very Dutch / German feel with trees throughout the site. It's a particularly suitable site if you have children as there is a playground on site and lots of kids for them to play with. It's a little pricey at €35 a night as its no West Cork, Kerry or Mayo but it has a nice lake and walks so I wouldn't be too annoyed. I've read a few comments on the owner but I thought he was grand; the best way I could describe him is a man set in his ways who can be met half way quite easily.

We have just bought a motorhome and we were delighted when Lough Ennell had availability for a 2 day / 1 night first trip. Booking was over the phone and I offered to pay in advance but there was no need. Very easy to find and check in was swift and the cost a very reasonable €28 per night including EHU. Very reassuring to be asked to fill out contact details as per Covid regulations. The site also allows a dog which meant we could take our Cockerpoo with us. Toilets and shower block was closed as per Covid but chemical waste was open
Pitch was gravelled and level and backed onto a pleasant green.
Bonus was that the local curry house in Mullingar delivered to the campsite.
Lovely first trip away and a gorgeous walk around the Lough. Only 1.5 hour drive from our place in Laois and we will definitely be back.

Just on our way home from one of the best camping experiences to date. We decided last minute to head away with the caravan for the weekend and we didn't want to travel too far, so we said we'd try Mullingar as it's only an hour up the road. We rang Geraldine and booked in. After I booked I read the reviews (I know u shouldn't) and I had mixed feelings after reading some of them, some positive but mainly negative. But how wrong they were!!! We arrived in the afternoon and were greeted by Geraldine who was more than friendly. She asked did we want to be close to the playground, which of course with kids was a yes. She enquired were we meeting anyone else so we could be put together, we weren't this time but good to know for future visits. She then called her husband to bring us down to what I can only describe as the perfect pitch. It was dotted with beech trees and beech hedge each side. The playground was to the back, the toilets were just around the corner (although due to COVID are closed at present), the pitch had water, ehu and drain for waste water. The park itself was laid out lovely with mainly Mobile homes but plenty of pitches for caravans and tents (not accepting tents at the minute due to COVID 19). The playground had lots of playthings in it with lots of grass for a kick around. The kids had a ball and with so many other kids there they made plenty of friends. Outside of the park is lough ennell which has beautiful walks all around it and just up the road 5 mins is Mollie Moos pet farm which our lot loved. All in all it was a wonderful experience and somewhere we will definitely be returning too. Thanks Geraldine and Eamonn for a great stay and for being so helpful and accommodating.

I had phoned ahead to book in. I had several emails with Eamon as I changed our dates due to work. Not a problem at all. Arrived to the site on the Friday afternoon, was met by Geraldine and Eamon. I signed the COVID paperwork, paid and Eamon showed us to our pitch. Facilities were closed due to COVID and there were no tents. The park has static mobile homes and plenty of caravan pitches. There is a one way system in the park which is great when cycling the bikes around. The lake is across from the front gate, with plenty of walks locally. The Mullingar to Athlone Greenway is not far away and easy accessible, Eamon gave me the information on it when he saw us on our bikes. We originally went to stay for a weekend and we stayed for the week. Very well run park, owners on site, hands on. Would definitely return. We loved it.

Stayed here for one night in a Campervan
Very friendly and helpful lady, Geraldine, on reception. Lovely site. All the conveniences needed for a Campervan stay. Spotlessly clean and so well looked after. Set in beautiful woodland beside a lake. Met the gentleman that owned it and he was very friendly and informative

Stayed 2 nights. Site has good facilities but is more geared towards people fishing and needing somewhere to stay rather than enjoy bit of space. Site is very large but very cramped. Owner has a very blunt personality, but I didn't pay for a song and a dance so, its irrelevant.
Bottom line, if you're there to fish, or need somewhere to stay in a stopover this is fine. But I've been to better sites for less

Great welcome onsite from lady at reception. We only stayed one night during the fleagh and thought pitch was average (it was on driveway of a house) but Eamon ( the owner) is an friendly, helpful character. He definitely wants everyone to enjoy their holiday and we can see why he's very strict on the rules so everyone enjoys their stay. Other reviewers seem to be overly harsh on their opinion of him.
