This hotel is dated and in poor condition. The elevator was broken, the spa had no sauna working-and they charge extra for the spa, the room had cracks in the ceiling, chips on the sink counter, a tiny shower that took 10min to get hot water, and pain pealing on the balcony. Yuk!!! Try to find somewhere else to stay!!!

Just go there. We went in 2019 in the winter. What a blast! Ideal location and base for exploring Iceland. Not far from the Airport, but far enough away to feel Iceland. Ideally placed for exploring the South West.

There was a traffic construction work from 23 - 05. We were offered ear plugs from the reception desk. But we could not sleep. The hotel manager blamed the construction company, but they had informed the hotel by their web page. We did not receive any compensation, not even an apology directly, nor a breakfast or what we hoped for the full room price. The bed linen were ragged and the pillows under duvet were dirty. The balcony were full of dirt from birds. And the room was very small. There was a good car park and a nice view of a historical diary. It was not a four star hotel at all. We got a letter from the manager two days later with an apology. It is obvious that Selfoss hotel has no routines for caring about their customers.

Great location and nice view from our king room with river view. Bed was comfy and room was very clean. Desk personnel were exceptionally helpful and friendly. I can't comment on the value, as it was part of a package tour as prices were not broken out of total, but we would definitely stay there again. We had prepaid for breakfast, which was excellent, but we did not otherwise dine at the hotel restaurant, so can't comment on that.

Beds are very uncomfortable. I woke with back pain after 4-5 hours of sleep, and I’m 38 years old. I had a better mattress in my hostel in Reykjavik. A good mattress should be a hotels number one priority, not so here. The rooms are not soundproof at all. I heard people talking in other rooms until around midnight or a little after and virtually non stop banging and walking around from other parts of the building starting around 7-7:30 am. My room was clean and staff was friendly, but if you like a good nights sleep do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Zero stars. Deeply regret staying here.

This hotel is VERY convenient to places to eat, the river, parks, grocery store, bank in Selfoss. The "famous" hot dog stand is on the river side of the hotel. There is a great ice cream shop in the same area. Across the street is a building with a food court with a variety of foods. The beds are comfortable. It was light 22+ hours when I was there. There are blackout curtains, but if you are light sensitive, you might want to wear eyeshades because there is light around the edges of the curtains. I was with a tour group and we had day trips from Selfoss covering the SW part of Iceland seeing the rift, glaciers, several waterfalls and other features of this part of Iceland.

Very basic hotel, def not 4 star, that is for sure. We stayed here as part of our Tour of Iceland. Some people of our group of 16 had a reasonable room. Our room was no more than a 'Closet '..... It always amazes me when hotels provide 1 chair in the room, for 2 people., and then describe it as a seating area foe guests....I presume they expect the other person to sit on the bed somehow? The space in the room w s so small, we barely had space for 2 suitcases.... No view at all. Would I stay here again in this room? Absolutely not! Were some rooms better? I sure hope so. Dinner we had as a group was ok-ish. The lamb was very very bad, stringy, tough, greasy and not good. Breakfast was good. No issues. Rooms were clean and bedding good.

Have to wait more than one hour for checkin! Came here at 3.45 pm and waited until 5.15 pm for check in! The excuse given was every one stayed the night before checked out late that morning! The front desk lady was giving rooms to most of the other people checking in but not for our group! Poor customer service! Room - OK with a view of the parking lot!

Room was fine, functional and clean, Shower pressure amazing. Great location to restaurants, bars and shopping. BUT, there was an event at the hotel and it was so incredibly loud all night and very late into the night, we didn’t sleep at all. Loud music, people singing and chanting. It was ridiculous and it was not an inexpensive room. No sound protection and sleep made for. Long day of hiking and exploring.
