This is a delightful hotel to stay while traveling through Iceland, the food, service, decor, rooms and the outdoor tubs are a gem. If traveling with a large group this is probably one of the best options to stay since the hotel is Conceived in a group of large cabins with eight rooms, lounge and outdoor area. Perfect spot to watch the norther lights of the weather permits it. I was very lucky and had the chance to enjoy them while in the outdoor tub. Just a great stay, highly recommended!

Not sure i like the style of such seperate rooms and goty soaked going back and forward to restaurant.Nevertheless suite room lovely and warm and luxurious, but no views. Short on hanging space for clothes and towels in the bathroom. Also lethal health and safety as could not see way back and my husband fell down the stairs on way back to suite. Comfy beds. Best sheets slept on in iceland. Some plugs did not work in room. First place we stayed that did not have coffee machine in room, but delightful member of staff did find me peppermint tea bags. No where to sit in bar as already full with party 10 people. Dinner was pricey but good food. Breakfast the normal selection of buffet, with a little bit extra.

In the middle of the Gold Circle (and as such a great starting point for many excursions), in the middle of nature (Lake is 2 min walk), the hotel is fully integrated into the landscape. Rooms are like cottages, with an individual hot water tub (like Jakkusi) - which should be cleaner as the water is not very engaging if you look into it ... . High quality of sleep (good beds ...). It is a perfect place for a couple of days. Restaurant is really nice : gastronomy. With professional and friendly waiters in general. Breakfast : organization could be a bit better as not a lot of space around for the guests ...

Golden circle self guided tour. The Grimsborgir was the best part of the trip. Accommodations were top notch. Included breakfast was satisfying. We also enjoyed dinner that night at the restaurant. The location was perfect. We were the first to the Geyser, way ahead of the tour buses. There would be those that question whether this was a five star hotel stop. For us it was our best stay. We reallyt enjoyed the hot tubs. Thank you.

Starting with the good-the setting is spectacular with private hot tubs and comfortable rooms. If only service kept up. We came as a large family group with several rooms and had several issues. At check-in, one of the accommodations was not as described. The hotel addressed with a major upgrade. However, we planned a group dinner (including small children) at the hotel restaurant for our final night. We were asked to order in advance to facilitate service which we were happy to do, but when it came to dinner, it took almost 90 minutes to get the kids meals. The table next to us canceled their main courses due to the delays. They apologized and said that they had multiple large groups; however, we did preorder so nothing was a surprise and the restaurant was otherwise not busy. Housekeeping is on request only. Breakfast buffet is mediocre-hot dishes are not awesome. Overall, not a 5 star accommodation.

The hotel was traditional but very beautiful qnd luxurious. Service was great as was the dinner and breafast. Drinks were lovely as well. We had a variois dietary requirements ranging- some vegan, some gluten free and the chef was able to tailor things to ensure that we had a very enjoyable time.

We stayed in 2 different rooms. My teenagers room was basic and overpriced for what it is. Our room was new and nice except the heat in the room couldn’t be adjusted. It’s radiant heat and it felt like a sauna. The restaurant is overpriced with unappealing options and bland food. Breakfast was mediocre. Location is poor. Nothing close by. Taxi is $60 to go to Selfoss. The hotel was originally developed as a single family housing community pre GFC and failed. Bank took it back. Repurposed by purchaser as a hotel. Seems out of place for a hotel. We absolutely loved our trip to Iceland and highly recommend going but I’d only consider staying here if you have a car and provided they fix the heat. We had private tours while staying here.

This hotel states it’s 5 stars and that is just false. If they were more honest about the experience I would have given them a higher ranking. My suggestions - change the dinner menu it was very limited and not very good- the breakfast was unimpressive and the eggs were horrible. They tasted like cardboard. The coffee was from a machine like in a cafeteria. Our room was so hot we had to change and the kids who stayed In a separate room had many things old or broken . The decor in our room was nice as it was a new. However the decor in the main areas felt like an ikea catalog. Nothing cool or fancy or fashionable more like large conference rooms with tables and white linens. A genuine disappointment. All fixable and I hope the new management will take some advice and make these changes or simply change the stars to align with the actual experience.

Lovely rooms in this simple but comfortable hotel. My only complaint was that the generosity of the duvets made it tough to get the room cool enough at night. I am certain this would not be a problem later in the year. The restaurant was surprisingly excellent for a hotel so far from a city and that was followed through for breakfast. Service was friendly and efficient. The hot tubs were a nice bonus after a long day of sight seeing.

This is the second time that I have stayed at Hotel Grimsborgir. It is clean and well maintained. The service is great and the staff is polite and well trainned. The hotel is expensive, but based on my two trips to Iceland, it was my favorite hotel on the island
