Gesthus Selfoss offers warm and cozy accommodation to people visiting South Iceland. We are located in the heart of the town Selfoss. We are called "The Star of the south" because of our location between all the interesting attractions in South Iceland.Gesthus consists of 22 nice little bungalows nestled between the trees (we call it the forest). Each house can accommodate from 1 to 4 guests.Every house has its private bathroom with WC and shower, cooking facilities and refrigerator. Our guests have access to two hot tubs heated with geothermal water, which are open during the summer time.In summer time our breakfast buffet is open from 8:00-10:00 hrs in our service center.
Stayed in a cabin - the shower barely drained, quickly flooding the bathroom. The bathroom floor creaked badly - likely from water damage. Comfortable beds, although it would be very cozy for 4 people to share.

The laundry situation: There is one washing machine and one dryer for the entire campsite. Both are big, but only having one of each is inadequate. One load costs one token (which is just one coin you buy in the reception), and a single one of those costs 900 kr ice (6.19 US, 5.87 EUR as of today 25th Feb 2023). That is shockingly high for one load of laundry, and if you want to to use the dryer it's another 900 kr.

We have no complaints and would stay here again An unplanned stay due to bad weather It is ultimately a basic cabin but warm, has cooking facilities, dining table and warm shower. Free parking. Lovely staff and communal area Didn’t try the hot tubs

This was the last night of our 10-day Ring Road trip and we wanted to stay somewhere we could reasonably get to the airport the next morning. It was surprisingly hard to find an available room in Selfoss so admittedly, this was not one of my top choices. However, I would recommend this place to others. We had a large cabin with a hot tub and grill, but did not have the opportunity to use either. The cabin and beds were very comfortable but we left too early to try the breakfast.

The campsite has plenty of spots for all types of campers. Hot showers, nice kitchen, multiple bathrooms, grey water disposal, bathroom content disposal, water, hot tubs, washer and dryer (washer auto dispenses detergent, clothes didn’t smell good coming out but after drying they smell okay) the dryer took two cycles to dry. The man we checked in with left something to be desired, friendliness. He was prompt to help but not friendly. The younger man in the morning was friendly and redeemed some points here. It’s not secluded and a bit loud, but it is a more populated area. The hot tubs were great as we did not have time to find a lagoon. All in all I would recommend this campsite as it offered everything.

Very spatious campground, nice big kitchen to cook and eat your food. You can eat in their small restaurant. Very nice and helpfull people at the reception. The shower was not so clean because of tourists who did not follow the rules (shoes).

After a long day at Landmanalaugar, we rolled in at 10pm and we’re able to use a large clean kitchen and seating area to make dinner. Lots of hot water for showers, free WiFi and a couch in the reception area, quiet at night. Best camping experience in our 16 days in Iceland.

Truth be told, we didn't stay here. But we had contacted them in advance to ask if we could do our laundry there, and they happily accommodated our request. We were greeted warmly on arrival, and they explained how the washers worked, the token system, etc. We did have an issue in that it took FOREVER to dry our clothes. Ultimately after a few hours I said "The dryers are taking forever...could we possibly use your commercial dryer?" They kindly said "yes, of course" and 20 minutes later we were back on the road to our vacation. Just wanted to thank them!

Beautiful private cabin for four people. Seemed newly remodeled with a functional kitchen, two clean comfortable rooms, a beautiful living room, a deck with a gas grill, and a luxurious hot tub. While there was some confusion about our reservation (we had done it via Booking.com and they seemed to have gotten wires crossed about which day we would arrive) the host was super friendly and helpful. In the end he gave us an upgrade to the big cabin rather than two small cabins for the two couples in our party. Very nice. Would definitely stay there again.
