Beautiful location but getting used to the geothermal plant and sulfur smell is an adjustment. Great hiking directly from the hotel. Excellent restaurant. The geothermal hot tub is large and beautiful. Front desk staff friendly but there is an air about the place of aloof management. Rooms were small and spare. The renovation taking place next to my room resulted in loud drilling for much of the day. Construction equipment sloppily occupying the parking lot spoils the vibe. Also, bring your own water bottle! The hotel does not provide bottles and does not sell re-useable ones.

The hotel is situated near a large geothermal plant (we knew before going) - the upscale industrial design is typical in Iceland. It's always nice to start your stay with a glass of Prosecco at reception. The rooms were modern, clean, comfortable. They currently have some construction outside as they expand - my only suggestion is that they should move the work vehicles at the end of the day so that they don't distract from the beautiful scenery.

Friendly welcoming staff and a glass of bubbly. Lovely rooms. Slightly eggy smell due to location and hot water. Lovely northern lights bar with some of the best cocktails-really great. Nice spa. Our room was comfortable and warm. Great showers. Wish we had stayed longer. Breakfast was amazing buffet selection-really fabulous. Very clean and sophisticated.

Very chic hotel, but in part not up to the standard of luxury one might expect at this price (tattered bathrobes, worn furniture). Breakfast extensive and very good. There is a small cute two-man sauna and a warm pool fed from a hot spring. Bathing area was very well maintained. One should know that the valley smells very much like sulfur. All in all: chic architectural gem in spectacular scenery, but clearly too expensive.

Contacted the hotel on 25th April 2023 to confirm their availability. The booking was made via email and all communications were directly with one of the hotels representatives i.e. booking was not made via Internet Website where full T’s & C’s were provided upfront. We had a gift voucher worth approx.. £630 which was awarded to us as we had to cancel a previous stay at the hotel over the COVID period. Hotel confirmed they had availability for the period 26th August to 28th August. Hote representative asked for my card details to guarantee the room “we need that information as room guarantee”. Due to a family emergency we had to cancel our trip to Iceland. My wife’s mother was due to be looking after our 15-month-old son but has had a serious accident and it is no longer possible for her to care for our baby. Incidentally, British Airways understood our situation and moved the entire cost of our flights to another trip/holiday – at no cost! Advised the hotel that we were unable to stay at the hotel on Saturday 19th August 2023. Hotel has taken it upon themselves to charge us for the entire duration of our stay i.e. additional charge of £981.98 has been debited from my AMEX card despite no authorisation being provided. Email footer for the hotel has been updated to confirm that the hotel is currently undergoing significant renovations i.e. lots of the hotel facilities wouldn’t have been available by the use of guests even if we had been able to make our trip.

Best bath products ever, so much so I bought Yarmi before I left Iceland. Hotel is in the middle of nowhere but the rooms are modern and comfortable, well supplied, the restaurant was outstanding, the onsite bar creative, and we loved the sauna and thermal bath experiences.

This place was so worth the trip!! Fantastic service with the most incredibly friendly staff who will go miles out of their way to help you. Food is amazing, rooms elegant and comfy and both the hot springs facility and bar area have unparallelled views that will make your mind quiet down and your soul sing with joy. Great tracking routes around. Go go go. You will not regret it

We stayed here for 3 nights and loved everything about it as it lived up to and exceeded our high expectations. Great location near the geothermal plant allows you to see a ‘hot river’ just a few minutes walk away. The shower does smell but it’s Iceland and part of the experience. Facilities are great with everything you need. Standard room was a good size with a great view. And there are plenty of lounge areas in reception and the bar if you want some chill out space. Hotel staff are young, but really experienced and it all runs really smoothly. From front of house, to restaurant we were made to feel welcome, and at home on Day 2&3 as we got to know them better. Some great hikes from the hotel as well as great base for exploring and doing tours from.

The building and rooms are definitely design forward. However the rooms were especially small - even by European standards. They were the smallest rooms we had stayed in during our entire trip to Iceland. There is very little room to maneuver around the room. The bathrooms have almost no shelving and places to put items down. Feels like a design flaw to not just have larger storage ideas if the room is going to be so small. Like others have said, there sometimes is a bit of a sulfur smell from the geothermal plant nearby but it wasn’t unbearable at all. We enjoyed using the large hot tub/pool and sauna area. The two story bar looked really cool although we were too tired from our journey to spend any time there. I felt that the restaurant staff could have been more friendly - we had to get up to get our own water refills at dinner. But the dinner itself was tasty - albeit expensive. The hotels around Iceland definitely are known for expensive meals and this hotel was the most expensive of all during our trip around the country. One thing that the hotel did that was awesome was that we had laundry service included in our room rate and it was so useful! Got a small bag of laundry cleaned overnight and it saved our trip. The location is great for exploring the Golden Circle as well, so yes I would recommend this hotel to others.
