Detailed Reviews
We arrived late but were made to feel very welcome by Maria and her sweet daughter Irene.. What a beautiful house, it feels so peaceful and welcoming. We had the Sunflower room which was absolutely modern and stylish. After an initial tour of the house and the hot tub Maria left to go home with instructions and information to contact her if we needed anything. As it was getting late we went to the Pizza place just down the road for something to eat and was well worth it. The views from the guesthouse are lovely and there is a lot to see and lots of lovely walks around the area. WiFi is free and fast.
We had a lovely sleep in such comfortable beds and got up to a breakfast which was out of this world. Everything you could possibly imagine, even herbal tea to homemade porridge which was gorgeous and sorry Maria, even though you gave the recipe, mine does not taste like yours.
Maria is such a wonderful person, friendly, happy to help and goes out of her way as a host. She is a wealth of information and a very calming person and if we come back to Iceland again we are going to make your guesthouse our base. I would love to get to know her better and the therapies that she is involved in and learn more about the fabulous collection of crystals and your other collectables that you have found on your explorations, They are so fascinating and your gems you gave us are being made into necklaces. 100% all round and if anyone is looking for a warm, comfortable and friendly place to stay, then I would have no hesitation in recommending this guesthouse.

The couple that own this wonderful little establishment could not be any more welcoming. In a blizzard, the owner met us in the street to help bring in our luggage. Maria emailed us 2 days later to make sure we made it to our next destination. Great and thoughtful breakfast spread. Room was comfortable and only weakness was a shower that tended to spray everywhere.

We chose this property for (by Iceland standards) the reasonable price, decent reviews, and its very central location as one travels the Golden Circle and visits Dyrhólaey and Reynisfjara in the Vik area. Maria was prompt in responding to all advance emails, including those involving a likely arrival after 5:00 pm. Owners were gracious in helping us settle in. We had the "mountain view" room, which is a bit optimistic in its description, but we didn't pay for a balcony over the valley either. Very quiet there at night. Wide variety at breakfast. All that said, we just felt that the owner had what might be best described as a very authoritarian attitude, and it just put us off a bit. Judging by other reviews, we may well be in the minority, but it was nonetheless our impression, and it is not a vibe we normally feel at such lodgings. It was nonetheless a good choice for us on this, our first visit to Iceland, although I would be inclined to consider other options, perhaps something in the Selfoss area, should we choose to stay in that area again.

Room Tip: The road to the guesthouse is gated. We were wise to get the PIN in advance.

This was one of my earlier guesthouses on my solo journey along the ring road. I got lost and couldn't figure out the location based on my GPS guidance. Definitely take advantage of GPS coordinates while traveling in Iceland as that seemed to be the most accurate way while traveling.
I arrived late to the small town in the evening and after asking many kindly Icelandic locals, one happened to call the owners for me. Unfortunately the guesthouse is on a hill behind a gate with only a tiny sign and that was not advertised well initially from my booking site.
It's a home converted into a bed and breakfast. I found the owners very accommodating and they helped me get settled in even though I showed up late after the typical check in time. A special perk- outdoor hot tub, towel, even shampoo in the rooms which was not common among the places I stayed. The rooms were well kept and very nice. Breakfast was delicious and had a great spread. The hosts were very helpful and kind in giving me directions and advice for my trip around the coast. I spent the next morning chatting with the host wife and she was so kind to give me tidbits for my trip. This is an amazing value with a mom n pop experience. I felt a bit like I was staying at my aunt's house, which is a great compliment.
Can't go wrong here. Just make sure to look at the check in times and look for the gate!

My wife and i visited in September on a return visit to Iceland. We drove from keflavik to the guesthouse and were given a welcome that could only be described as warm and honest as could be. The owners Maria and Stefan made themselves available at all times during our four night stay offering advice and even an invite to an art exhibition. The house itself is beautifully maintained and full of Maria's own artwork which in itself is extremely good. The food is as good as you could have and the location is in a marvellous place to set off on travels. The pool is the local pool which is a marvellous open air type in a art deco style We sadly had to return home from this place but i for one would thank the hosts and wish every place that we visited was as lovely as this.

Pleasant stay and nice breakfast. Good view from our room which was the panoramic view room. Enjoyed our swim at the nearby swimming pool (where you get complimentary entry). Because of the wonderful reviews, our expectations were very high, and perhaps because of this, we were slightly disappointed with the room as it's dated, especially the bathroom. It was however spotlessly clean which is the main thing. Didn't get any wifi at all in our room.

Everything about this place was WONDERFUL. We arrived to find a beautiful, clean room with a nice clean bathroom. The whole house smelled of homemade soup, which Maria had been preparing specifically for us! It was the best food we ate the entire time we were in Iceland. After dinner we enjoyed the outdoor hot tub, heated by steam from the nearby geothermal pools, as snow fell all around us. No Northern Lights this night because of the snow, but it didn't make the stay any less magical. The bed was comfortable and warm, the breakfast had great variety. Maria and Stefan were incredible hosts (did I mention clean, warm slippers on a heated floor?). Definitely worth a stay here. In fact, make this your home base and take day trips from here, it won't disappoint!

I could not recommend this guesthouse highly enough, we had a fantastic time here and enjoyed every aspect of our stay.
Maria and Stefan are fantastic hosts and from the moment we arrived they were warm and accommodating and couldn't do enough to help us. They were always around the house and every morning would ask us about our plans and give valuable advice regarding the weather and the best things to do. They also kept an eye out for the Northern lights for us and offered to wake us up if they made an appearance after we went down to our room.
The house itself is cosy and comfortable and not having many rooms means that you get to know others which creates a real family feel. A great hot tub in the garden and access to the swimming pool next door. The breakfast is excellent with a great selection of food, much of which is homemade. Maria also cooks dinner in the evening for an extra charge, we did this one evening and found it to be fantastic value and we got the opportunity to share a traditional, home-cooked family meal with other guests. It was truly a lovely evening.
We really felt that this guesthouse made our holiday to Iceland extra special. Being in a small town you got, what felt like, a really authentic Icelandic experience and as we hired a car we were in an excellent position to visit all the main tourist attractions. We wouldn't hesitate to visit again and would recommend the guesthouse to anyone!

We booked Iceland's guesthouse as a splurge and it was definitely worth it. The rooms are well equipped, the additional ability to use a unique geothermal pool, the intriguing thermal features just steps from the door are enhanced by the hostess with ideas and suggestions to complete your visit in the hottest area in Iceland (most geothermal activity).
All of that had us booking a second night. Even before we had the best breakfast in Iceland. Fresh waffles, porridge. Five types of bread with fixings like salmon herring cheese and lamb salad. Fruits and veg cereal and Skyr. Good coffee and juice. Special options of traditional Icelandic food and most of it organic.
Thank in Maria and Stefan We will return

We stayed our first night in Hveragerdi before catching the bus to start the Laugavaugur trail. The owner met us and showed us around, then when we were settled we asked about nearby places to eat, as we are vegetarian he kindly drove us to a nearby place that made a lovely vegetarian buffet! He had also told us there would be a firework display that night, so we wandered around the town and found a nice bar/cafe I think was called Skyr, where we had a few beers before heading to the park to watch the fireworks. Had a really cosy nights sleep, in what was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, then a great and very filling breakfast which set us up nicely for the start of our trek! We had a few hours before meeting the bus so walked to a nearby spot that had a trail up the mountain to a hot river, which was amazing! It was a really lovely nights stay and would recommend to anyone who was planning to to the Trail walk.
