Recently renovated with original materials of wood and stone has given respect to the traditional architecture of Meteora. Archontiko Doupiani house situated on the highest point of the area in a quiet green area of six acres adjoining the roots of Meteora. This is a wonderful small hotel in the village of Kastraki - we were made to feel very welcome and secure with the COVID measures in force - mask wearing and insistence on hand sanitiser before breakfast shows that the hotel takes this very seriously. We had a room with a small balcony looking towards the amazing rocks of Meteora. The room was perfect and the hotel a really interesting building to explore. Breakfast was very good with local products such as the honey and pies being a highlight. You could eat outside (we didn’t as the weather wasn’t that great) and there are many local tavernas within easy walking distance. A great place with fantastic views and an ideal base from which to explore the monasteries of Meteora.

The Blond and I stayed here for two nights on a whistle-stop tour of Meteora.

It’s in a great location in Kastraki, which is more peaceful than Kalambaka; it has incredible panoramic views, and is only a short walk from the tavernas in the centre of the village.

The breakfast is delicious and the hotel’s sensible Covid precautions do not detract from the friendly service of the staff.

Highly recommended, for couples and families.

Stayed for two nights to visit the Meteora monasteries. Reception was welcoming but we are in our mid 60's and had to lug our suitcases up two flights of stairs with no offer of any help so it wasn't a great start. It took us three tries and another visit to reception to get the WiFi sorted but when we did it was fast and reliable. The room was nice but there was no bottled water at all which surprised me. We had driven hours to get there and I was tired and just wanted a cold glass of water. I went to reception and asked them if there was a laundromat nearby or a laundry that would wash my clothes and she just shook her head and said no there is nothing. We were a little bit out of town but there were a few restaurants around and we had a car if we wanted to drive into town. There was a small supermarket about 500 meters away where we could stock up on supplies. The room was comfortable and clean and we had a nice balcony with a view of the mountains. There was a really nice courtyard area where you can sit to eat breakfast. A lady met us at the breakfast buffet and explained all of the different dishes on offer. It was a nice spread of traditional Greek dishes. We sat in the courtyard in the afternoon to have a drink and the owner of the Hotel presented us with a whole bunch of cherries still on the branch he had just cut from the tree which was a nice touch. We went out for dinner locally as they do not have a restaurant. Overall it was a nice hotel it would just be nice if they provided some help with suitcases and gave you some bottled water.

The place is located at the edge of the small village offering amazing views (certain rooms only) towards the meteora rocks. Has a nice architecture as well as a great outdoor sitting area.
'Hotel' staff is really unprofessional even for 'Greek village' standards.
Soundproofing between rooms, floors and outdoors/indoors is literally inexistent, making it impossible not to wake at every toilet flush, door opening or corridor walk/talk. Pert of the unprofessional management is that they sadly they use the Covid19 safety regulations as an excuse in order to avoid any sort of service or assistance, including cleaning the room, room service or even serving anything more than a coffee or a glass of water. All this while staff did not wear any masks or gloves.

We traveled to Meteora for 3 days as a small group of 6 people (2 couples, 2 children) and had booked into the Hotel Doupiani. I didn't really understand the great reviews right away. The hotel is in a great location, that's true, but the rooms are getting old and very noisy. We were forbidden from playing board games by the fireplace in advance with the explanation that the guests wanted to have a drink there. Even though the fireplace was sometimes even empty of guests, we were still not allowed to sit there and play. The website says you can enjoy your wine by the fireplace, but there are restrictions.
The breakfast the next morning was, to put it honestly and simply, bad. Just cheap white bread of poor quality, products that were presented as homemade but as a Greek I know that they were frozen pitas, very bad coffee. And no variation at all, exactly the same every day of the 3 days.
Up to this point, we didn't want to let our good mood be spoiled because the Meteora monasteries are really worth a trip.
But this hotel doesn't keep its promises.
Despite the large garden, the children weren't allowed to play, even though this was mentioned on the website. At the latest then, I realized that this is not a child-friendly hotel.
But the highlight is yet to come. As we stayed in a different room in the hotel the first night because the triple room wasn't immediately available, I was surprised when I couldn't set the heating any warmer than 22 degrees on the second evening after changing. That wasn't the case with the first room and as I was cold after a strenuous day, I wanted to turn the heating up a bit.
This didn't work as I was told, so I asked at reception. The lady told me that the heating automatically had a blocker and couldn't be turned up any higher. So it is up to the hotel how warm it can be in each guest room for which you pay 135 euros per night!
When I complained, the owner was very unfriendly and rude, not at all customer-oriented.

As I said, Meteora is beautiful and there are countless hotels and guesthouses in the region, so I wouldn't recommend anyone to ruin their days with such behavior and such low quality. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is more than bad and not recommended.

If you're looking for a place to stay while visiting Meteora, stop reading this now and book this hotel. The rooms weren't dazzling, but were cozy, the balcony view is lovely, even if it is a bit cramped, but what really made this place the perfect stay in Meteora is the grounds, the staff and the location. After a long morning of hiking past the monasteries we absolutely LOVED returning to this hotel, sitting out on their spacious and lovely patio area with a beer, or a glass of wine and just taking in the views.

Service at the hotel was wonderful, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a delight - as was eating it outside staring out at Meteora! This hotel is situated perfectly right at the start of the walking path up towards the monasteries, yet tucked away to make you feel like you're in your own oasis there. The sign that leads you to the hotel doesn't lie - they really do have the best panoramic views in all of the Meteora area. You can't find a better place to stay.

Also an extra 5/5 stars for the friendly cats!

This was a really good find if you plan to visit Meteora. The location could not have been better, the views are stunning though, I have to be honest: I booked directly thru the hotel's website and it was for a single room with "partial view to Meteora". This, in my opinion I'd a little misleading as when I got the room it was on the back side and I had to open the window and peeked thru in order to be able to see anything. We'll, it was 0 degrees and the chance of me reaching out to get a peek of the back of the mountain was not gonna happen. So, save yourself the sour moment and just pay the little extra to get the "panoramic view room". It is worth it, waking up to this view is worth every penny (in my opinion).

The hotel is quite charming, I stayed in room 12 and the room was spacious, internet was fast enough. I understand this is a 3 star hotel, but I just wished they have water complimentary and / or coffee or tea. I was not prepared to get 0 degree weather and I was in need of hot beverages, though you can buy coffee at the small bar they have.

I would like to note, that there is an issue with acoustics. The people above me, were having a room party it seemed. They were talking very loud and it was hard to get some sleep.

The hotel staff are courteous, though not genuinely friendly. The people at the reception however, were friendly and always willing to help and answer any questions. The breakfast, though quite good is not among the best I have had in Greece.

All in all, I had a wonderful stay, there is plenty of parking, the location is amazing and the hotel grounds are quite beautiful. I am sure that with warmer weather, it would make the hotel stay, even more pleasant. If I were to come back or if I knew of anyone visiting Meteora, without a doubt I would recommend!

We stayed here as part of a tailor made tour and it was a very welcome suggestion by our. tour operator. The location is outstanding and we had a room with a view over the rocks of Meteora. The staff were most welcoming and happy to make suggestions of what we could do with our time there. Breakfast was very good (the best coffee he had on our trip according to my husband!). The grounds are delightful and it's easy to walk into the village of Kastraki to find a taverna for some traditional Greek cuisine. Highly recommended

We stayed at the hotel for one night in April and had a nice visit. Parking lot is a little small, and so parking might be hard to come by in peak season (not an issue for us since we went in shoulder season). Check in went smoothly and the front desk attendant was very knowledgeable and friendly.

The rooms are pretty standard; a little outdated, but very clean and reasonably quiet. Beds were fairly comfortable and all amenities were in working order. We booked a panoramic view room and were not disappointed by the view from the small balcony-absolutely stunning!

Breakfast was decent, with a pretty standard selection of cereals and pastries on offer. The breakfast attendant kept coughing, which was sort of discouraging since she was so near the buffet.

Overall, I don’t have anything really negative to say about our time at the hotel. If we are ever fortunate enough to be near Meteora, I’d definitely book this hotel again.

Perfect spot for exploring Meteora and located at the base of the mountains in the smaller village location of Kalambaka. The common areas are beautiful as are the hotel grounds with stunning views. Lots of dining options are a short walk away and the front desk are friendly and can make recommendations. We had a Meteora view balcony triple room - again stunning views. The hotel is echoey and so noise in the corridors and adjoining rooms carries. The bathroom has an over bath shower and half bath - you cannot have a bath in it and as a shower it was pretty useless, after three nights we were happy to check out purely down to the bathroom The restaurant has no evening meals but the breakfast was great as was the service. Free parking on site.

The Wi-Fi is indeed poor but in certain parts of the facility. Depending your room you may have good Wi-Fi signal or bad. But the place near the fireplace, the breakfast zone and the garden have good Wi-Fi.

I can't answer because we booked a tour that handled the reservation. I suggest you call the hotel. They are a smaller operation, so they may not have all of the standardized payment options you see when booking online.

We would like to inform you that there is a public bus that goes to the Monasteries that runs 4 times. Another option is to use the path to go on foot to the Monasteries or take a taxi to take you there and then walk around. Also there are some orgenised tours in which you can take part.
