Hands down one of the best stays! The property is beautiful and each room has its own design. There is also a 3br villa located at the top of the property, it has a pool and spectacular views. We absolutely loved our room, the Catarina Suite, we stayed four nights, it was very spacious with a huge terrace overlooking the lake and volcanoes. The hotel staff was very attentive and friendly, food is delicious and the drinks are awesome. The front desk arranged our trips to visit the other towns on the lake. This is a place I will never forget and cant wait to be back to. Perhaps the best in the lake.
This is a breathtaking hotel set high up looking out over the volcano flanked Lake. This is by far (from what I can see) the best hotel setting in the area. I stayed for 4 nights, which is an optimal length. Rooms 🛏 - STAY IN THE VILLA!! This is a separate 3 suite property set up from the main building. - Master Suite Atitlan 🚨where I stayed has the best view hands down and is set upstairs in the villa, so is quiet and secluded with its own private staircase. - My room had a gorgeous four poster bed, dyson hairdryer, large tub and shower looking out over the lake and different pockets of relaxation like the desk, seats, and balcony. Absolutely stunning. i do think the safe and fridge need to be replaced as neither worked. - The villa has a gorgeous living room, downstairs bathroom, smart kitchen, and a great balcony area, on top of the private balconies with sun beds and chairs. - 🤿 Do not waste time at the other pool, come to the infinity pool to relax and drink rose. 🍷 Food - Many reviews suggest the food is not good. I disagree. I agree that the menu is somewhat limited however they are very accommodating, and will make dishes on request and you can also order from the lunch menu (Tuna Tartare is a must). - The waiters’ English can be limited but I loved Jairo who was proactive and was always thinking about ‘what next’. - Wine list is pretty reasonable with good global coverage, but many wines weren’t available or chilled so be sure to check in advance so not to be disappointed. - A suggestion here for mgmt would be to have waiters equipped with recommendations and more detail on the dishes and how they come. I would also say to the chef (who I met and was lovely) that he should come out to greet guests every evening as it is a nice touch and people can give feedback. Sometimes, less is more when it comes to dishes…. - Breakfast is great with lovely fruit and bread complementary. Other than that, avo toast is different here and DELICIOUS. Activities 🥾 - The hotel can organise certain tours but they are a) well over double what you can source yourself in Pananchel, and b) limited in offering. - I would recommend mgmt consider improving their offering here or at least partner with other providers to widen the offering. Reception could also do with Concierge with good English to help guests more actively. General - Gardens are stunning, lush, and have nice private seating areas. I raised some of the improvement areas to Rosa, and she was most open to improving and very eager to understand. I must say overall this is an incredible hotel where I would love to get married!! A small pts would make this a 5.5 rather than a 4.5. Excited to come back in the future!…
An amazing place with a spectacular view, but the restaurant offers a poor service and even worst food. Even when the hotel is as unique as the location, can’t find a reason to eat there again. Local restaurants may offer an absolute better culinary experience.
Casa Palapo was the first stop on our honeymoon and what a fantastic start. It’s a beautiful hotel with stunning rooms. There was a great selection of in room amenities, I loved the soap/shampoo they had. Also never have I had a Dyson hairdryer in a hotel before, loved it!! All the staff were super friendly, the food was delicious. Hands down one of the best gluten free breads I’ve had that they served with breakfast. On hearing it was our honeymoon the manager even sent us a little something to our room which was great. The view from the infinity pool was out of this world (although it is a bit of a climb to get there but wasn’t an issue for us - just don’t forget your sunglasses before you head up there!!) The hotel is quiet and remote which is great to relax but equally town is only a short tuk tuk away (which you can book at reception) if you want to try somewhere else for dinner Finally - the views at this hotel are simply stunning! Highly recommend if you visit Lake Atitlan…
Stayed 2 days and 1 night at Casa Palopo with a few girlfriends and we had the best time. The staff was so helpful and accommodating our whole stay. Our room was beautiful and spectacular and the service was top notch. It felt like we were in a family owned and operated luxury resort. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Atitlan. The views are unparalleled and the cocktails delicious!! We even coordinated a boat ride with the front desk for one of the days. This is a great place for quality R&R.
