I was extremely happy with my stay at El Portal. Steve, the owner was extremely accommodating and greeted me at 11 pm to check me in after my flight was delayed. He went the extra mile for me and I was impressed. I stayed in the "Sarah" bungalow. It has an amazing mesa view with a patio and outside dining area. It was close enough to downtown Sedona which allowed me to easily walk to local restaurants and shops, yet secluded enough to make my stay feel relaxing. I am a frequent guest of boutique hotels. El Portal really impressed me. I highly recommend it.

Hotel's Favourite
My husband, the dogs, and I loved it here so much we stayed again the next weekend. It is such a relaxing atmosphere and beautiful rooms. Each room is unique some with their own outdoor dog run and fire pits. The courtyard is so tranquil and the hotel is so close to everything. I couldn’t recommend this location more for a trip to Sedona.

We were only able to stay a couple nights in Sedona, but immediately wished we had more time in Sedona and at El Portal. This hotel is a) absolutely gorgeous and filled with beautiful original Arts and Crafts pieces; b) perfectly located up a very quiet street and also right next door to the Tlaquepaque marketplace; c) staffed by extra-friendly folks; and d) I feel like I need to say again that the hotel is GORGEOUS. The interior courtyard is adorable, our suite was huge and beautifully furnished, and the hotel and neighborhood are whisper-quiet in the evening despite the hotel's close proximity to restaurants and shopping. We can't wait to go back.

If the rating stars went higher, I would have given more! This little hotel could not have been better. Beginning with making the reservation, Fran was so helpful with all of my questions. Once we checked in, she was more than accommodating (including, when we asked where to get distilled water that we needed, offering and getting it for us while we were at dinner). She also was very informative about where to eat and other items of interest. Steve was always around to answer any questions, making coffee in the morning and keeping the fire pits burning. They were both so friendly, a wealth of information and always busy making sure everything was in order. The hotel itself is small and intimate, but has everything you could think of needing. From fresh brewed coffee in the morning to s’mores kits and forks for cooking over the fire pits, to an honor bar with fair prices and good choices. Each room is spotless, different and beautifully appointed - complete with sherpa lined plaid bathrobes! It’s in a great place, next to a very nice shopping area, yet tucked away and so quiet and peaceful. I can not recommend El Portal highly enough. Thank you for a great visit - we can’t wait to come back!

This hotel is perfect for visiting Sedona! Close to shopping, incredible restaurants and trails all within walking distance. Fran, one of the boutique hotel managers helped us with so many details about what to do, and where to eat around Sedona before arriving- all were amazing! This hotel is nestled into a side street. Upon entering the walkway you are drawn into the patio area that has a fireplace and even a firepit with Adirondack chairs around them. The hotel lobby is more like an enormous family room an aquarium, two parakeets and a kitchenette that has in unlimited snacks, drinks and even s’more kits. Our room #5 was perfect I every way. Comfortable beds and oversized rooms. The free standing bathtub was a plus! I was concerned that it was dog friendly because we didn’t bring our dog BUT the rooms each have their own private courtyard with firepit with chairs and blankets folded nicely over them for your comfort and there wasn’t a trace of dog or hair anywhere for those worried with an allergy The owner, Steve was like having your favorite neighbor to talk to and gave tips when we asked about navigating the town. Don’t have enough nice things to say! We will be back!
