A new generation, the same essence: The Alvear Art Hotel emerges as an innovative proposal in Buenos Aires, backed up by the tradition of the Alvear Palace Hotel. Set among impressive trees, this new sample of the Alvear Experience opens the doors of its modern building in the heart of the financial, commercial, and cultural area of the city, offering excellent service, warm hospitality, the sophisticated comfort of its rooms, and the most advanced technology. The Alvear Art Hotel is located in a traditional area of Buenos Aires, declared a historical site - the San Martín Square, just steps away from elegant Santa Fe Avenue and famous Florida Street with their countless stores. It is strategically located a few blocks from the financial area and only five minutes from the new corporate district in Puerto Madero.

From start to finish this hotel was a delight to stay in, I was sad to leave it! We booked the studio room and it was a good size room, the bed was huge and so comfortable, you push a button from your bed and the blinds open/close, there was complimentary water every day, the bathroom was well designed with separate shower, whirlpool bath, separate room for the toilet and all in marble. There is a turn down service in the evening too.

I swam in the swimming pool on the top floor and it was lovely and warm, it has lovely views over the city of Buenos Aires so we watched the sun rise and set from this location. The ceiling on the pool room fully retracts so you can see the sky – it’s beautifully designed, with a huge tap gushing out water for a massage. There is also a Jacuzzi next to the pool to relax after your swim!

Breakfast had a really good selection of hot and cold foods, fresh fruit, honey comb (which was a huge draw) that you cut off yourself, cakes and pastries. All drinks are served at the table by staff, who were very quick and efficient.

We ate in the bar one evening and staff were a little slow but the food was really nice.

The concierge at reception was fantastic – he ordered taxi’s for us and showed us the best taxi’s to get on our own so we didn’t get ripped off (radio taxi’s) – a 30 minute taxi ride in BA will cost approximately 300 pesos (~£1) – an absolute bargain compared to the UK!!! The concierge also called various places for us and passed along messages very promptly, he was excellent!

The hotel is very close to lots of restaurants, cafés and small shops selling chocolate, drinks etc but the hotels itself is tucked down a little side street, hidden away and very quiet once you are inside.

Overall, an excellent hotel, one I would most definitely stay in again and recommend.

From check in to check out my experience while staying at the Alvear Art as part of a group prior to a cruise was practically faultless. The tone of service was spot on and exceedingly competent. The breakfast and lunch buffets offered a wide variety of excellent offerings. The location of the hotel is in an upscale neighborhood within walking distance of great shopping and many attractions. The room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet and I heard no noise from outside the room whatsoever. Dinner at the bar was a good choice for me although there was a short wait during the height of the dinner hour.

We stayed here for several nites ahead of joining our National Geo group which was booked here for the one night pre cruise land stay. We opted to stay here rather than change hotels as the pre cruise nite was already included in the tour price. But for that, we probably wouldn’t have stayed here. The hotel is modern, stylish, with large standard rooms with every convenience you would expect from this class hotel ($329/nite standard room, 2nd floor, no view). All staff are very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. But, it is lacking in charm and ambience, and the bar/lounge and restaurant facilities are WAY too small for the number of guests. And, there is not much within walking distance, whether you are looking to tic off tourist sites, parks and monuments, eclectic neighborhoods, dine or shop. We found ourselves walking miles or taking cabs several times a day. Also be warned, this hotel caters to Lindblad/National Geographic tours and is simply overrun when they are in town.

Stayed here three nights. Hotel location is perfect walking distance to Recoletta, Julio 8 boulevard, places to eat. Centrally located about two blocks from the main boulevard on a quiet street, hotel is modern with perfect Air conditioning, great shower, decent size rooms. Restaurant is good but there are more just down the street. Best location for a hotel and close to convenience stores, shopping. Highly recommend this modern hotel.

We spent our last night at this hotel before flying back to the UK and really enjoyed our stay. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful and our room on the 14th floor (1406) overlooking downtown was perfect. The bathroom was the best one of our stay with a walk in shower and jacuzzi bath and the bed big and comfortable. The hotel also felt very quiet and private with only 7 rooms on our floor. Breakfast was okay with a good choice. If you want to stay downtown we would recommend the Alvear Art hotel and hope one day to stay again.

Needed a hotel for a night before our cruise. After reading all the TA reviews, we decided on the Alvear Art, and are really glad we did. Fairly quick $34 taxi ride from the airport. Nice location. Bars and restaurants within walking distance (but the hotel has a nice bar and restaurant itself). Although check-in is at 3 pm, we arrived at noon and were given a room right away, and it’s a perfect room. We got a corner room on the 13th floor with great views; we could even see the ocean. All the amenities you could ask for (even house slippers). Modern lobby. Really nice front desk staff. Swapped dollars for pesos at the front desk at a better rate than at the banks. You will be happy you chose Alvear Art. We certainly are.

We stayed here just before NYE and it was in a good spot and provided enough space for our family. We stayed in an Art Suite which provided a bedroom and living room space. We visited the pool which was almost at the top. There was a pool and hot tub which we were able to activate the jets but were unable to make it any warmer than the pool. The included breakfast was good and provided us a good meal to start out the day for our return trip to NYC. I'd recommend the hotel for a night or two stay.

Impecable service and professionalism. This is a modern cousin to the classic Alvear Palace. I’ve stayed at both and can say that the Art offers the same level of standards - especially in terms of the staff, who are extremely professional. The front desk team are always very accommodating. Housekeeping is impecable and very detail oriented. The towels and linens are very high quality and the beds are really comfortable. The hotel is solid like a fortress. Thick doors keep out all sounds. Motorized black out shades are a big plus. The Alvear Art has a touch of old world charm that sets it a notch above the other hotels in this business district. Highly recommendable.

Three nights B&B, happy with our choice, comfy and well serviced rooms, albeit some maintenance needed on some tap fittings and door handles. Helpful staff, good breakfast and nice ambience. BA such a big City that location, whilst not on the main road, does not affect your travels as taxis always available. Thoroughly enjoyed our time in the hotel and BA

It is fairly updated hotel, with good room amenities and service. The room was very quiet and no street noise. The bathroom was elegant. The service was polite, timely and accommodating. They agreed to store our bags while in Iguazo falls and not returning to the hotel (saved a lot of headaches and cost on flight to Iguazu falls). Breakfast is decent but there are no dinner options in the hotel. But the area has many mid priced restaurants.

I am a traveler, this is not “my hotel”. I believe the hotel website had an option to pay the hotel for transportation pickup. This of course would be more expensive then getting your own taxi at the airport.
