Very efficient and helpful front desk. Spacious clean and comfortable rooms.
Great value for money (especially if your visa card is using the 'blue exchange rate'
There is a very fine walk from here including the central highlights Congresso, Palaccio Barolo, avenida de Mayo, Casa Rosada and Puente. This is also a simple 5 stop journey on the Subte once you have got over the difficulty of getting the card ( consult the front desk)
One minor niggle. breakfast is meagre by Scottish standards , too much cake and no bread.
+ Big and spacious room
+ Friendly staff
- Horrible wifi. I need wifi to work online and I wasn't able to work at the hotel. I had to go to a cafeteria.
- Small and short bed sheets
- Old rooms
The rest was impeccable.... thanks for the attention... we will return!!;
Everything was excellent and far exceeded my expectations.
The location is perfect and the price-quality ratio is very well defended.
The condition of the bed and bath linens is truly excellent!
The room is very spacious, it is a perfect option.
Without a doubt I would return.
Arrived at 4pm. Half hour wait to get into room, told it would be 5 minutes. After that I was told the suite I'd booked wasn't available. I was too tired to argue.
Housekeeping forgot to make up my room when I'd been out all day.
Internet patchy.Water pressure low in shower. The booking said there was an ironing board and, tea making and safe in room, there wasn't.
Really big, comfortable rooms with decent facilities, well placed in a really accessible part of the city. Lots of really nice breakfast places, cafes and restaurants within walking distance and a metro within a hundred metres.
We walked around very safely but did heed advice on actually where to walk. The staff were great - helpful, friendly and efficient.
Finally, when I saw photos of the roof terrace, I thought it may have been photoshopped. It hadn’t, and was even more photogenic than we could imagine!
Since this was not a sightseeing or pleasure trip, I decided to spend a little more to make sure I would be comfortable in the hotel, where I expected to spend the bulk of my time.
The location turned out to be as convenient as advertised, very near to Congreso Square. It is a lively part of Buenos Aires, slightly rundown perhaps, but most of the city is in that condition these days. You must bear in mind that Argentina is going through one of the worst crises in its contemporary history.
Check-in was uneventful, although I wished for a little more courtesy from the staff. When I got to my room I had the first disappointment: the room was as spacious as the official pictures suggested, but there was a pungent smell, the walls were peeling off in places, the carpet was aged and discoloured and the bathroom appliances were an unpromising shade of creamy yellow. It seemed hard to believe that a room like that would pass an official inspection. I could not see myself spending four days in such a grim spot, especially if this hotel had been my upmarket option.
The staff took my complaint in their stride. They offered a new room and they offered to throw in free breakfast for the length of my stay. The new room was higher up, with a better view and in a much better condition.
Breakfast was the next disappointment. It was basic in the extreme, and the young woman in charge on Sunday was not aware of any gluten-free option. I had a coffee and some boiled fruit. Only from Monday onwards, with a more experienced woman in command, did the GF goodies materialise. It seems that they had been there all along. I enjoyed my last three breakfasts and I appreciated the breakfast boss's good manners - she was the only one in the hotel who had time to say good morning and who seemed to enjoy her work.
All in all, I got used to Uno Suites. I came to accept the staff's grumpiness as part of the overall despair Argentinians are going through (although, it must be said, a day in neighbouring La Plata revealed that there are kindly, courteous Argentinians outside the capital). I got frustrated at the unstable WiFi, but there was a good view from my window to distract me when the connection went down. I enjoyed having space to pace in the room, and I had plenty of occasion to be grateful for the handiness of the location.
Would I go back there? It wouldn't be my first choice, but I would not rule it out. To be based half way along Rivadavia, a few steps from Congreso, walking distance from Café Tortoni, is not to be sniffed at. And thanks, breakfast lady!
