We stayed 2 nights on our wedding anniversary and very much enjoyed the experience. The bed was a bit hard but everything was very clean. The breakfast was very good. A nice break. The property is in the country a little way from the sea. The coast in this area is beautiful.
This place is great! Everything about it is well thought and you clearly feel that Rodrigo and Ary love what they do and are attentive to their guests. I travelled with a friend and we stayed in a super nice room with soap and shampoo made by Ary (which are really really good!). The place is a bit far from Zambujeira (if you are traveling without a car) but Rodrigo offered us rides to Zambujeira. The breakfast is great, super delicious! Note the amazing bread. I would highly advise anyone to spend some days there! Susana
I echo the good reviews posted by others. Our three hard-working hosts were very friendly and helpful, whilst the accommodation provided everything we needed. The pool, although cool, was very welcome and the gardens prettily laid out. Being a couple of kilometres outside the main village, the hotel was extremely relaxing and peaceful. The only very slight criticism is that the lighting was quite dark, making it difficult to read in the evening. Breakfast, sitting outside, was a highlight with fruit, cheese, local charcuterie and eggs to order. Unlike most of the guests when we were there, we were not walking the entire Rota Vicentina, but did follow some of the trail along the clifftops. We didn't try the free bikes but cycling into Zambujeira would be very easy. Zambujeira is not a pretty village but is very attractively situated above the rocky cliffs with a good choice of restaurants and shopping facilities. We spent three nights at the hotel whilst exploring the beautiful Alentejo region.…
Nice place and responsive host, who recomended us very good local restaurants for dinner. Delicious breakfast - fresh croissants, fruit, local cheeses. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Perfect choice.
This is a cute, sweet hotel and they were exceptionally helpful at helping us get around and accommodating our need to leave early the next day. I think this hotel is a sweet way to experience coastal Portugal, particularly if you have a car and are staying put for a few days, but for one night along the Rota Vicentina, it was a bit too far off the path along a busy road to be ideal for us.
A very sunny and warm welcome by the host at Monte do Papa Leguas. Great breakfast, all the information we needed was answered. A quiet place where we had a swim a good rest after a long walk on the Rota and a drink. Thank you Claudia.
The Monte do Papa Leguas was our best run place during our 4 week travel through Portugal. Claudia and team will make your stay perfect. Everything was clean and all staff has been friendly and thoughtful. English, Portuguese and German are spoken - the staff however will be more confident in Portuguese (and a little English) which will do no bad as everything comes from their heart. The place has around 7 rooms from which 3 are built in an old horse shed. Those come with a kitchenette and do have a special charm. You will not need the kitchenette for breakfast as this is included and worth an additional point (most of you will not need lunch afterwards). You will be served inside and outside. The place seems small with only 7 rooms but there is plenty of space which is used for the pool, the inside sitting area with a little library, free Wifi, Sat TV, the outside sitting area with a self catering bar, the bicycles, the lawns, the bbq area, the pool, the parking lot... The location is a about 1-2 km outside of town and a quite spot. Zambujeira do Mar has a wonderful beach and sea front but you will also be close to other lovaly natural spots on the West coast of Alentejo. We and our baby loved it - thanks again so much for such a wonderful time. We will return for sure on our next trip to Portugal.…
We love Zambujeira, so we visit at least once every two years and have tried different places, e.g. Sardanitas, Touril, etc. there is a reason we stayed at papa leguas 4 times: super close to beaches, delicious breakfast, great setting. Rooms are small and basic- but clean. pool needs upgrading, started showing age.
Not your usual type of set up and accommodation. Very informal with honesty box for drinks. 5 rooms converted from stables with fans and no air con but very clean and comfortable for our one night stop as we toured west coast. Claudia our hostess could not have been more helpful and even dropped us into town as we did not want to be driving home after our meal and drinks. Other couples stayed but there was no noise and we had the pool to ourselves. The highlight was the breakfast outside with fresh local produce and the surroundings were so beautifully laid out and relaxing. I would definitely go back one day and recommend this place.
We spend a week at this wonderful place. It's composed of 5 renovated rooms in a traditional alentejano house. The place features 3 additional rooms with kitchenet which are great for families. The rooms are big enough and the oversized beds are comfortable. The outside is lovely with big areas and places to sit and enjoy them. Everyone there was super nice. I can't stress this enough... They are really welcoming and you feel right at home. The breakfast is great with fresh local products and different fruit everyday. There is a homemade cake everyday too. We loved the honesty bar concept and the lounging area. The pool was kept under excellent conditions. The wifi is poor in the rooms, but there is a common space you can use with great wifi. We loved the fact that there aren't a lot of rooms which make the place really quiet. Overall we had a great, peaceful and relaxing time here and we loved it. …
