This place is great! Everything about it is well thought and you clearly feel that Rodrigo and Ary love what they do and are attentive to their guests.
I travelled with a friend and we stayed in a super nice room with soap and shampoo made by Ary (which are really really good!). The place is a bit far from Zambujeira (if you are traveling without a car) but Rodrigo offered us rides to Zambujeira.
The breakfast is great, super delicious! Note the amazing bread.
I would highly advise anyone to spend some days there!

An excellent location from which to explore the Alentejo coast. Tucked away and hidden from the main road, you'd never know what lies beyond the trees.

The room accommodation was superb, very traditional and rustic, although no air con or fan which fortunately we didn't need. The cool breeze through the window at night was sufficient! The surroundings are very quiet too.

Breakfasts are more than adequate - too much for us, the choice was amazing, the quality superb. Having breakfast on the terrace in the morning sun set the scene for a good day.

An honesty bar is available for drinks in your room, out on the patio, or the communal lounge area.

The swimming pool was well maintained and of a good size for swimming lengths too. Sun loungers around the pool make for a relaxing time in sun and shaded areas.

Hugo was extremely busy but always had time to chat, explaining the very interesting history of the former farmhouse buildings, and nearby towns.

A walk into town at night would be tricky along the unlit section of road, but once reaching the campsite area it would be ok. We used our car though, and found plenty of parking areas in town.

Some very nice restaurants in town, and reasonably priced, welcoming and friendly staff. We used 3 different ones during our stay, all worthy of a return visit.

Our 3-night stay wasn't long enough, and returning is very much on the cards!

We stayed 2 nights on our wedding anniversary and very much enjoyed the experience. The bed was a bit hard but everything was very clean. The breakfast was very good. A nice break. The property is in the country a little way from the sea. The coast in this area is beautiful.

Just off the main road to Zambujeira do Mar but yet pleasantly quiet is this beautiful B&B in the Alentejo region. The area is stunning with a lot of beaches and cliffs towering the Atlantic coastline. The owners are amazing, the rooms set in a rural and comfortable way and the breakfast is just gorgeous. Thanks to a dinner-free Festival Sudoeste night before we were able to finish the whole lot, hard work! Went straight into the pool afterwards and enjoyed the sun in the magnificent surroundings. Check-out up to 1pm and car parking very convenient. Great stay!

This is a beautiful part of the country and this hotel is a lovely rural retreat from the (low key in June) bustle of Zambujeira do Mar. We stayed for two nights in mid June and did part of the fisherman's trail in both directions which is well marked with good maps outside the church down in Zambujeira do Mar. The breakfast was excellent with homemade cakes and jams and the lovely fresh soft cheese they eat in Portugal for breakfast - lovely on bread or toast with a drizzle of honey. The rooms were very pleasantly decorated in a traditional style with the traditional building style too - bamboo rafters. You can specify, when you book online, to have a twin or double bed. It seems common in Portugal, perhaps because of the heat, to have large twin beds pushed together instead of doubles. In this case, as we specified a double, the twin beds were made up as one really enormous bed. We had to radio across during the night, 'Are you still there?'
The other plus was a lovely cool pool which is ideal in this climate and especially as the atlantic ocean can be a bit too wild at times for a decent swim. Another good idea here, as there is no staff present on site after 8pm, is the bar with an honesty system. You help yourself to a beer or wine and just declare what you had on a coupon and pay when you are checking out. There is a lovely shared outdoor space with tables and chairs and the small bar.

Although we liked this place a lot, our main criticism was the sound proofing between rooms - really very poor. We could hear our neighbours too well. This might put us off coming back as we didn't have a great night sleep between that and the mosquito.

Thought for the day: If you are feeling powerless in your life, just think what damage one little mosquito can do in a room for a night!

We stayed there in late July and loved it. The rooms are quite comfortable. The setting is brilliant, with a lovely and huge garden, magnificent swimming pool, and beautiful arquitecture. The breakfast is high quality served in a most delightful courtyward. The breakfast experience is superb! It is conveniently located near extremely beautiful beaches. I will go back there more times. No doubt!

Not your usual type of set up and accommodation. Very informal with honesty box for drinks. 5 rooms converted from stables with fans and no air con but very clean and comfortable for our one night stop as we toured west coast. Claudia our hostess could not have been more helpful and even dropped us into town as we did not want to be driving home after our meal and drinks. Other couples stayed but there was no noise and we had the pool to ourselves. The highlight was the breakfast outside with fresh local produce and the surroundings were so beautifully laid out and relaxing. I would definitely go back one day and recommend this place.

We stayed 6 nights in early September. We needed a peacecful, quiet break and Monte do Papa Leguas was exactly what we needed! I don't know where to start with praising this place. The hospitality was just exquisite, Claudia went the extra mile to make us feel welcomed and at home, and we cannot thank her enough for that. As others have mentioned, the breakfast was AMAZING. Every day we got a different, delicious cake, fresh fruit (again, they changed every day: different types of berries, melon, watermelon, etc.), fresh goat's cheese, 2 different types of bread, 2 different types of jams/preserves (I LOVED the pumpkin jam!!), scrambled eggs, ham, freshly squeezed orange juice, tea and coffee. We were able to borrow beach towels, a beach umbrella, beach tennis rackets... The pool was really nice, although with such stunning beaches in short proximity we only used it twice in a week! Zambujeira do Mar is a 5-minute drive away, there was plenty of free parking spaces when we went and the beach is beautiful. Although our favourite beach was Carvalhal (about 15 minutes by car away, via the village of Brejao - I wouldn't recommend using the dirt road that gets there from the top of Zambujeira beach unless you have a 4x4 vehicle!). Just sun, beach, and the ocean... Bliss! Our room was big and very comfortable, with the HUGEST bed I have ever seen! It was quite hot during the day but cool at night. We didn't have any problems with mosquitos in September, but anyway every room has one of those anti-mosquito electric diffusers.
It was the perfect holiday for us and we loved the Alentejo area, the stunning Atlantic beaches, the rough cliffs and dramatic landscapes. I wish we had stayed longer and we will surely go back!

Advantages:
First and foremost - breakfasts! I have to admit, I usually don't sleep in TOP20 world hotels, but I have been here and there, and have never been so much spoiled by the breakfast. Homemade cake, natural juice fresly squeezed, fruits etc. The drawback is that breakfast starts at 9, so if you are running/biking or having other activities early, this can be a problem.

Other advantage is location - if you are looking for calmness, relax and quietness - this is a perfect place. From stable apartments you get views to open fields. Apartments are also quite well equipped with a little kitchen annex. Decor is really appealing if you like rustic style (wood, bricks etc.), great attention to details.

Good place for children - lots of space. Very good pool - decent size, separated by a pine forest and a wall from rest of the resort which make it calm even during windy days, very clean (as the rooms and everything else was).

Resort is located around 2 km from the center of the village and nearby beach, car is a must.

Wi-fi worked well, staff was friendly and helpful.

Disadvantages:
Our double room had in fact two single beds put together which substantially lowered the sleep quality. In my opinion this should not be the case in this standard hotel.

Stable apartments are a bit too dark, larger window would be really nice. It is generally designed to spend whole day and evening outside.

Resort provides free bikes for guests use (which is a great features), quite decent machines but for a biker - my heart was crying to see them being so poorly maintained!

An amazing find, located outside the beautiful Zambujeira do Mar - it's like staying in a private country residence in a remote part of Alentejo. An authentic historic building and grounds, with rooms that remind me of travelling in Spain using Paradors (luxury converted castles). The room felt like a castle or church, opening into a shared courtyard with a well stocked honesty bar, and further away over the grass lawns a very separate large pool and sunbathing area (pool is regularly cleaned and large enough to be fun). There is a beautiful and eclectic lounge to relax indoors also, listen to music or take breakfast. The property is run by a lovely family with everyone contributing and helping out, and a family experience when leaving.

The room was spotlessly cleaned when I arrived and even though it has an antique feel it was not dirty. The best two things - the homemade soap from one of the family member was really nice, and best of all was the bed. Wow. About 1 metre wider than King Size, huge, inviting and so comfortable. I prefer a slightly harder mattress and while it might feel a bit tough to some people at first, after walking 24km on Fishermans Walk, the best thing is support for your muscles not softness, in order to transfer stresses from your body. I had the best nights sleep in a week hiking down the coast and didn't want to get out of bed!

The only annoyance is it's not a bit closer to Zambujeira do Mar, which for me is the most beautiful town and beaches on the whole coastline. I walked to the hotel, and again in the evening walked into the town and back. On a map it looks close enough and I'm a fast walker, but even for me it is at least 15 minutes each way and in places without pavement, walking in the road which in darkness is a bit more challenging. The hotel offers bicycles and locks so there is an easy solution (and really for a place like this why do you want to leave!) but still it's nice to walk to places where you can!
