Wow! What a gorgeous property! The views of the property’s vineyards and Table Mountain, the tranquil calm, the attentive and friendly staff and an excellent restaurant made for a fantastic introduction to Cape Town. We absolutely would stay here again.

Not sure how to review The Cellars without sounding as though I work for the hotel! It's also on the back of two other hotels that I've reviewed that makes it sound as though all my reviews are 5* This was the perfect stay. Our room was divine with a large terrace and massive windows that had views over the pool, vineyard and way beyond. The decoration in the room is perfect.. white with muted accents that just creat calmness as soon as you walk in. Bed supremely comfortable. Bathroom very well appointed with amazing shower. Food in restaurant very good. Breakfast spread was spectacular. The grounds are beautiful and tranquil and wrap around the hotel. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive and friendly. Although it seems a long way away from Cape Town, it’s not: barely a 20 min drive and it’s easy to park in waterfront or otherwise get an Uber. They’re super cheap. It’s worth staying out of town for the peace and tranquility of Constantia greenery. It’s perfectly safe to go running from the hotel.. be warned though.. it’s very hilly!! I cannot fault our stay in anyway whatsoever. Thank you!

We first visited this hotel nearly 20 years ago and this was our second visit this year. This time we had 17 nights in a premier suite (rm 63) which was on two levels with its own garden. Thank you Robyn for helping us with the booking. You are only 20 minutes from the waterfront, we love that is in an upmarket residential area and there you find the hotel in a 7 acre oasis. There are lots of 5 star hotels in Cape Town, what make the hotel special is the people who work there and of course the amazing gardens. Tanya (general manager) heads up a wonderful group of people, housekeeping, restaurant & bar to the friendly gardeners. Nothing is too much trouble and the service feels genuine. The heated pools are glorious. Breakfast is everything you could want, we sampled a Sunday roast and many dinners …everything is first class, from presentation to flavours. If you want somewhere to relax in a beautiful setting and receive great service….this place is for you. Thanks toTanya and all the team ….until next time

Quite possibly the most beautiful hotel and grounds we have had the privilege of experiencing. We were met with warm lemongrass scented towels and a lovely drink at check in. A manager gave us a fantastic tour and information on this historic property filled with beautiful flowers, art, handblown glass in windows, and views of mountains, gardens and all the way to the Indian Ocean at the most spectacular sunset! Our room was spacious and luxuriously appointed with every possible thing we could need or want. The bed was comfortable and the linens were luxurious. A lovely comfortable sofa was a perfect place to relax with a cup or tea or coffee from the Nespresso machine. The bathroom was lovely, the amenities from Africology and a heated towel rack completed the feel of luxe. Dinner in the Conservatory did not disappoint! Food and wine were exceptional. I had Springbok and a side salad: both were so perfectly flavored, I may have groaned with delight. My husband had a seafood risotto that was also over the top. The bread and sun-dried tomato spread and lemon basil aoli were a wonderful surprise, and then an "amuse bouche" of two perfect arancinis. For desert we had the chocolate cake with papaya and ice cream. The papaya lacing the plate was the best part to me!! Breakfast was perhaps the loveliest. You could order off the menu but a buffet was complete with everything from a bloody mary bar to carrot ginger juice, two types of salmon, a beautiful spread of fresh and dried fruits, amazing baked goods, cheeses and so much more: all presented with craft and care: a delight to all the senses. Excellent coffee! The grounds of this stunning property are beyond the imagination. We walked around on the well manicured paths for over an hour and I am not sure we saw it all. The 300+ year old Camphor trees on the property that came from Japan with the East India Company are something majestic to see. The gift shop is beautifully appointed and our lovely representative explained about the artists who supply much the shop, so we had to buy some exquisite souvenirs! We finished our stay with a couples massage and facial in the spa. "Shivon" was possibly the best massage therapist I have ever had, and I have had some very good ones! The exceptional property, beautiful rooms, spectacular gardens and masterfully crafted food at Cellars Hohenhort can only be excelled by their incredible staff. Everyone was so professional but kind and friendly and well informed. They made us feel so very welcome and wanted and valued. We will return to this magical place. It is about 20 minutes from downtown Capetown but an otherworldly experience. They can arrange private tours, drivers etc given enough notice. Don't miss this beautiful Cape Town experience!

Situated in the quite countryside above Cape Town The Cellars is a lovely Hotel. The staff are friendly and welcoming and there are plenty of them, Hlumisa on reception was a joy to deal with. the food is excellent and both dinner and breakfast were of a very high standard. We stayed in a suite which had a lovely lounge area and a large bathroom. There was a water problem whilst we were there which was dealt with well by the staff and the duty manager went out of his way to make sure everything was done that could be done. Overall a beautiful Hotel in a lovely location around 25 minutes from the Waterfront and a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of tourist land. If I could make one change it would be to significantly improve the gym which is tiny and should hardly be classified as such. And also Scones should always be served with clotted cream and not whipped cream. I’ve know doubt that we will return, well worth 5 stars.

Thank you for taking the time to share feedback on your recent stay with us, I am so happy to hear you had a memorable stay with us and that Hlumisa was a joy to deal with. After a previously good restaurant experience a few years ago we had booked afternoon tea (normally going to the Mount Nelson) as we were located close by, expecting this to be the highlight of the weekend. Grumpy staff and boring decor let us and them down. Signage to Afternoon Tea was limited. We were 20 mins late, and reminded of this by the waiting staff. Between my 88-year old mother and my 3-year old son, getting there was an achievement in the first place, but this was OUR 2-hour window! The tea sommelier demanded to know "did you pay the R195 for the child". I explained that the child was under 4, so I did not as it was not required in the booking but would if needed. As we had not been there before for tea I did not know what they did or did not have in place for children under 4. I had made it clear in my booking that we would be bringing someone with limited mobility and a 3-year old. Fortunately he was not in the mood for tea and sat quietly with his tablet and headphones throughout. The delicious array of teas was then placed on top of my mother's cutlery and we had to jump to move it out of the way. Once we and the tea were all settled in, all proceeded well, the different teas were delicious, as were the treats apart from the sickly-sweet desserts. The view out of the open door was of a tree in front of us and a boisterous grey squirrel.

We slept 4 nights in a suite and have to say, it was amazing. The hotel is very luxurious, the furniture, beds and bathroom are really good quality. Two pools to dive in, a great bothaic garden included! The restaurant offers great dinner and the breakfast à-la carte menu is absolutely delicious. There is also a shuttle to the Capetown waterfront, which is totally free.

Set in well manicured gardens against the backdrop of Table Mountain, this boutique hotel offers a comprehensive breakfast spread. However, the quality of food is average- scones and banana bread were dry and hot breakfast fairly bland and tasteless. Disappointing after waiting 2 weeks for a booking yet most tables indoors were unoccupied. Poor overall management and quality control.

We used Hyatt Points. We had moderate expectations. Very nice room. View of Table mountain. Lots of stars so if your older request a lower room. Laura Wakefield arranged a car service waiting for us on a 5 am flight. Perfect entry into Cape Town. Such a beautiful hotel. Restaurant was superb. Great place for a few nights and close to many wineries.
