Cheetah Paw Eco Lodge is a jewel in an almost untouched area of the African bush in the Guernsey Private Nature Reserve. The reserve is conveniently located close to Hoedspruit, Limpopo and the Orpen Gate to the Kruger National Park. The luxury tented accommodations feature en-suite bathrooms with dual basins, bathtub, inside and outside showers and an enclosed toilet. Cooled by air conditioning, the rooms are equipped with a laptop safe, hair dryer and tea and coffee facilities. Nestled in the bush but in close walking distance to the main lodge all luxury tents offer our guests a private atmosphere. Each terrace faces a waterhole with a breath taking view of the bush and the Drakensberg Mountains. Watch animals drinking at the waterhole or stunning sunsets in the mountains while enjoying a sun downer at the bar. The swimming pool invites to cool down after a long and adventures day. Wi-fi connection free of charge in public areas and a TV with international channels are provided in the comfortable lounge. The food at Cheetah Paw is prepared daily fresh with only the best local ingredients. We take care of dietary issues. Tours to the Kruger National Park, Game Drives on a Big Five reserve, Bush Walks, Panorama Tours and many more activities can be booked and organized. Rates are available on request. Stayed at Cheetah Paw for 4 nights mid-December 2019. The lodge provided a tranquil getaway with breathtakingly beautiful views of the northern-range of the Drakensberg Mountains. It was the ideal setting to get away from and forget the busyness of the corporate world. The tents are clean and comfortable, meals very good and staff extremely friendly and helpful.

Charmaine, the lodge manager, was welcoming and accommodating. She is extremely knowledgeable of the surrounding area and willingly shared information on what to do and see and organised trips, game drives etc. when requested, which made it so much easier to enjoy the stay.
Thank you for going above and beyond.

While the lodge has some shortcomings, which should and could easily be addressed e.g. room amenities and air-con in the lounge area.

But the beauty of the surroundings, the casual visit by Giraffe, antelope, beautiful birds and the every curious monkeys, there is the unexpected sighting of an Ostrich cooling off in the water hole, during some extremely hot weather.
It is extremely good value for money and very well worth the stay. Try it, you'll like it.

Beautiful place in the bush
I am not a tented person but if all the tented camps can look like this I will use it more. It was very clean and up to standard. The food was like a 5star restaurant. Not much wild animals roaming around that was the only down thing of the stay. Staff all around from the entrance gate and the lodge was friendly and helpful. Will definitely want to stay there again.

A lovely lodge situated in the middle of the bush. There is a lovely pool which overlooks a small waterhole and is a lovely area to relax. At night you are able to hear the sounds of nature all around you. Staff are friendly and helpful, going out of there way to meet your requirements. We enjoyed our delicious steak dinner around the fire pit. It is also in a great location to explore Kruger - around a 40 minute to drive to Orpen gate. Thank you for our stay!!

Beautiful game reserve, comfortable safari tents, very friendly staff. Buffalo's and wildebeest grazed just outside our tent. Lovely pool area. Breathtaking sunsets over Drakensbergen. Staff and guests have dinner at the same table, which is very nice.

My friend and i stayed one night here as we wanted to see a few local attractions before staying inside the Kruger Park, i did have a little problem finding Cheetah Paw as my GPS took me on a badly graded road, once there we were greeted by happy smiley faces and was soon introduce to the pool and bar...this is a little Gem of a place and a few days chilly there is well worth it..

We stayed in one of the two Suites (as opposed to the tented accommodation) which were lovely and worth the extra. They have amazing bathrooms which open up into the veldt. Food is plentiful . Ringette is very helpful. Only small downside is that it is further than you would think from the map from the Orpen gate (about 45mins) And on our visit at least we saw little wildlife around the lodge.

My family & I stayed a week at Cheetah Paw Lodge in Jan 2019 and it was wonderful. There is so much to do! Most people only stay a couple of nights and wish they had more time. I strongly recommend you several nights.

Right from the beginning we were welcomed and made to feel at home. Mangers Charmaine and Rinette are so helpful and friendly. They made bookings for us and looked after us really well. The accommodation is excellent. Beds are comfortable and large, there are baths and a choice of indoor or outdoor showers in every room. The tented rooms combine luxury with a real sense of connection with the bush. The cabins have huge windows looking out onto the wildlife, and are very private.

The views from the pool and dining area towards the mountains are stunning.

Cheetah Paw is on the Guernsey Reserve, and during daytime is safe to explore on foot, providing you follow a few sensible guidelines and don't wander off the paths. We saw giraffe, zebra, impala, wart hogs, ostriches, monkeys, wildebeest all within the area we were staying. The Guernsey Reserve backs onto larger game reserves which are open to Kruger National Park. Some days we could hear lions roar (really loud & close!). From Cheetah Paw it’s a few minutes' walk to boundary fence to a 'Big Five' reserve. We followed a path along this fence and witnessed a large herd of elephants moving though the bush; wow they make a lot of noise!
It's not just the big animals that make this place special, we saw wild tortoises crossing the road, dung beetles, a beautiful kingfisher feeding it's young just outside the Lodge entrance, cheeky Hornbill birds pecking at our windows, bright dragonflies over the swimming pool…the list goes on.

Between us, on game drives we saw lions, elephants, hyena, rare wild dogs, rhino, cheetah, hippos, baboons and more.

Recommended things to do include:
• Early morning game drive on an adjoining 'Big Five' reserve (you'll want to do this more than once! In Kruger the vehicles have to keep to designated routes, in the private reserve the driver takes you off road, for an amazing adventure that brings you closer to the animals).
• Visit Jessica the Hippo (a wild Hippo that loves humans)
• Walk with white Lionesses (in a neighboring reserve, the lions are rescue lions, used to humans but in most ways still wild)
• a day at Kruger National Park
• drive up to the mountains for stunning waterfalls and a gorgeous canyon on a panorama tour,
• visit rescue elephants and feed them on an 'elephant encounter', and
• save some time for relaxing by the pool and enjoying the scenery.

Thank you so much Charmaine, Rinette and the Cheetah Paw staff! We will stay with you again! Helen, Daniel & Dini.

Cheetah Paw Eco Lodge was a wonderful place to stay whilst visiting Kruger National Park. Rinette and Ilonka were wonderful hosts and they along with their staff provided great service. The lodge is ideally located in an area with wonderful animal life around. The accommodation was first class and very suitable. The food was very good and well presented. I would recommend this lodge to everyone.
