Though there are only four luxury suites within the homestead, a magnificent double volume sitting room, mezzanine library area, interactive kitchen and bar mean there is generous space to relax. Warm evenings are spent socializing around the fire-pit, marvelling at the star-studded sky whilst animal calls echo through the darkness. Daytime means morning and evening guided game drives in the unfenced reserve, a part of the Greater Kruger and home to all the Big Five. The gardens offer a tranquil oasis, shaded by mature trees. They flow down to a secluded entertaining area with infinity pool, terrace, alfresco bar and campfire. All overlooking a rewarding and flood-lit waterhole. Simbavati Amani can be taken on an exclusive use basis to create your own private bush retreat.

Spent New Years at Simbavati Amani with our family group of 6. We had a fantastic time. Our guide, JV, was very knowledgeable, a great spotter and had a great sense of humour. You are lucky to get him as your guide if you stay here. Mama Kate was our chef during our stay. She is a wonderful cook and went out of her way to make gluten free options for our daughter with celiac disease.
When guests are relaxing or meditating at the pool, it would be more enjoyable if staff is not enthusiastically busy doing stocktaking at the bar next to the pool, or catching up on the phone or TikTok posts for 1,5 hours.
We paid a fair amount for our stay and were rather unpleasantly surprised with 4 named envelopes in our room on our last day in which we could put our tips. It made ‘optional tipping’ feel obligatory and uncomfortable, and makes us wonder if the staff is paid a living wage or if they actually need tips to make a living…

Other reviewers have mentioned the outstanding staff and varied animals. I would like to comment on the rooms. There are four rooms, set around a central eating area. We used all four rooms and it felt as if we were in someone's private home. Family members could visit each other without having to go outside. The outdoor facilities are also beautiful. Best of all are the staff, who are competent and caring.

Luxurious accommodations. Very clean. First experience with a butler (Ishmael for 1 day & Bongani for 2 days) & a private chef (Terry for 1 day & Raphael for 2 days). Food was excellent. Service lacked minor attention to details. Twice daily Game drives exceeded our wish list expectations (can't get everything that you might want, but "close" is good enough). Winter season, pack a fleece, gloves, hats, gloves, scarf/neck gaiter, a wind breaker & sunglasses too. The only animals that we didn't see were Hippo (out of the water), Cheetah & Crocodiles.

A wonderful place to experience the African safari in an exclusive and familiar lodge. Game drives in the morning and in the afternoon. The Big 5 and much more. Private Water pools attracting kudus, impalas, zebras, baboons, elephants, professional, passionate and kind staff.

Without doubt an experience from the highest standard. From start to finish it was amazing. The service was flawless, the food was exceptional and the entire staff were friendly throughout. Special mention to JV (guide) as he ensured our trips were safe. Another special mention to the chef (knowledge) as the food exceeded expectations. If I could rate the food a 6 star rating I would.

Our absolute favorite - up, close and personal. Guests feel like family members invited to stay. Warm and professional service with lots of attention and laughter from Sipho, the butler, and Tebogo, the cook. Outstandingly knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide Charlie making you appreciate not only the Big5 and wild dogs but also the trees, insects, birds and how it all fits together. Couldn’t have been better, left heartbroken and in tears after 3 nights
