I recently stayed at Holland House while on a business trip to Durban. Honestly, the place is fantastic! You cannot go wrong staying here. It is very comfortable, with great amenities, and the ever attentive Kim is on hand to cater for your every need. She also cooks up a storm at breakfast, so get ready for a lovely start to your day with a super selection of food. Holland House is also very close to the dining and night-life action on Florida Road, but not too close to be disturbed by the noise. There are some great places to eat here - if you like steak, then you cannot look past 'Butcher Boys' (possibly the best steak I've ever had). All in all, very pleasant, secure, and comfortable stay. I would recommend this place to anyone. You will not regret staying here.
We did not expect such a wonderful accomodation close to the center of Durban. Such friendly hosts, helpful to organise our sightseeing, and outstanding breakfast. Just perfect! Around the corner you find Florida Road with a broad variety of restaurants and bars. Close to downtown Durban, beach and stadium. We enjoyed it very much, and when we come back to Durban, we will for sure choose the same place! Best regards, Petra and Frank
Hospitality of the place is much above expectations! Kim, the owner of the guest house, and Peter have so magnetic and fascinating people, they were so nice to meet us at the airport in person, that was first pleasure we felt in Durban - among countless good feelings we felt withing our one week stay in Holland House B & B! 0. !!! This guest house is one of the safest place to stay in Durban. Electric high fence 1. Interiors and room design creates that necessary real spirit of the land once we entered, so we received the first impression of south african culture and dived into Africa right away. 2. 1-bed room suit with huge dining room and big bathroom at our private service, hot water - no problems unlike in Cape Town. Safe provided. Matresses are new and comfi. Nice view from our windows was stunning (room 1). 3. Swimming pool in the yard. 4. Safe parking lot. 5. *****Braai (barbeque) organized by Peter was simply the best in my life, save me Lord! Mamma mia! I wish I had such at least once in a year, pleeeease!*****♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ Pieces of chef's heart mixed with wonderous stardust were added to those steaks. And pork sausages... I tried sausages in Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Austria, but never tried so specifically and extremely delicious once like Peter cooked!!! 😋😋😋😋😋👍💯♥️❗❗❗ 6. Delicious continental breakfast served nicely with the best cappuccino, as local milk is so fresh and delicious, don't miss it! 7. Safe (!!!) and quiet district (Florida Road is one of local fancy areas unlike city center), we walked outside after dark with no worries. 8. Fancy restaurants in walking distance, try Butcher Boys and get complimentary wines just because you stay in HH. 9. Feather pillows available on request. 10. Kim and Tania (thanks a billion!) were so kind to help us with organizing safaris, city tours, giving advises. 11. Bonus 1: selection of wines available in the dining area 😉👍🍷 12. Bonus 2: monkeys available outside in the morning🐒🐒🐒🐒🐒🤣 But most important was my piece of mind. You know, guys... When I was staying at Kim's, I felt like staying at my mommy's or granny's which meant I had no worries at all, I was easy and not stressed a single second, as if I was at home, my own home...)) Great thanks, Kim and Peter for your hospitality, absolutely perfect customer approach and ambience you created for all of us! You are amaizing and breathtaking persons, bless you God! Such a pleasure to have stayed at HH!…
This B&B scores highly for the large room (and vast bathroom) with all the expected amenities. The breakfast was freshly cooked & piping hot each day (not that we got there every day!). There are scores of restaurant options on the nearby Florida Road or alternatively the city centre is only a R30 Uber ride away. Kim & Tania where friendly hosts, even organising a walking tour of Victoria Market for us.
Over the years I have stayed in many hotels, lodges,B&B's etc in SA as well as overseas and I have yet to experience a nicer place than Holland House. Situated in lovely lush gardens in a quiet, peaceful, suburb, yet close to vibey Florida road with all its restaurants and shops. I found the owner, Kim, and Tanya, Maggie and Filly the staff members, all very friendly and accommodating! Before our stay Tanya replied promptly to all my queries and reassured me about a lot of things. Kim, the owner was welcoming and helpful from the start and went out of her way to assist us with all kinds of arrangements. As we went for the Comrades marathon event in which my daughter took part, we could not have stayed in a better place. The morning of the race all athletes taking part had free range of the whole kitchen from as early as they liked, as she knew they probably wanted to prepare special meals etc before their race. Holland House is central to most every thing and it is safe to walk to Florida road (even at night!) which is around the corner where there are lots of restaurants to choose from.Kim prepare one's breakfasts and it is very personal as she comes to your table, give suggestions and then prepare everyone's choice exactly as asked. The rooms are big and airy and clean and comfortable - perfect in every way.Anyone visiting Durban for whatever reason, could not stay in a better place.…
