Firstly I was unable to enter my room I had to go to the reception at all times to ask them to open the room with a master key. I felt that the process is also unsafe as anyone can be granted access without confirmation. I give the housekeeping department a bells, the rooms are spotless, neatly done and easy to find items in the room. The technology of the hotel is a bit out of date as i had to stay with a flat battery because there is no USB source of charging in the room as i had forgotten my charger socket at home. Also, i was quite disappointed when i was told to use a shampoo as a shower gel because there are no shower gels. I mean such a big establishment? No shower gel? Hayi njani? We stayed here as stopping off and return points for a visit to Kruger National Park. The room was clean and comfortable and reception staff were helpful. The hotel is part of the Emperor's Palace complex which is like a mini Las Vegas devoted to gambling and a wide variety of eating venues. The transfers to and from Johannesburg O R Tambo International Airport are on time and take only minutes. We had an early start and hotel was happy to provide a packed breakfast which was more than sufficient for lunch as well!

Attended the 12th African Rotavirus symposium that was hosted at the Hotel. Great environment, friendly staff, great conference rooms. Hotel has airport pick up at OR Tambo international Airport so accessibility from Airport is very convenient. Great rooms, very neat, excellent wash rooms and really very spacious. The room I occupied had a queen bed and two extra smaller beds. Very ideal for a family rather than individual stay. Breakfast was excellent with a variety to offer including fruits. Hotel is in a very spacious compound and very good for evening walks. Flat iron and a kettle provided for the room. One very excellent observation I made was the fact that a supervisor always came around every evening to check and confirm if all was okay. May not really be very sure of the job title. I am assuming a supervisor. In summary its a very good place and I would recommend it for a family vacation.

On Christmas morning we woke up and there was not enough towels in our room and we requested additional towels at 9am that morning. We called room service number 1010 at 9am and we were promised towels in the next couple minutes. The towels were only delivered after 2pm that afternoon after several requests. The don't care "not my problem" attitude of the staff was truly disgusting!!
We decided to go down to the pool and we were told we need to pay a deposit of R200 for a towel at the pool and upon returning the towel our deposit would be refunded. Upon returning the towel after swimming my husband was told that the deposit was already collected by someone in our room. We had an argument about this and requested the CCTV footage and was told that this would be investigated and again with a disgusting attitude. This is without a doubt the worst experience we have ever had at any hotel we have ever stayed at. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Our room had nearby airport views & a wall mounted TV.
The flag cafe at the ground floor serves breakfast & played chaotic instrumental music.
This is best suited as a transit hotel only & not for long stays as the bathroom in our room was strictly only functional (super tiny & water spills out and no ground elevation or any carpets to dry feet). The washbasin was actually beside the bed separated by a curtain and 2 small walk-ins for toilet & shower side by side.
Good WiFi connectivity.

Dissatisfaction Guaranteed. I stayed here for 2 nights with the express purpose of finding a new airport hotel to be used on a regular basis for my company and employees. This was my experience:
1. Upon checking in, the reception staff notified me that all they had available was rooms with single beds. When I insisted to speak to the manager and pointed out that this was not what we reserved, rooms with double beds became instantly available.
2. The hallways and carpets in the hallways are filthy. I had ample opportunity to wonder at the peeling paint and stained carpets on my numerous trips down the stairs and hallways during my 2 night stay.
3. During the 2 nights stay I had the privilege of 1 elevator ride. The rest of the time the elevators was placarded as “ out of service “
4. During my time at the property, I phoned reception 25 times. Not once was the call answered. When I mentioned this to the manager on duty after walking down the 2 flights of stairs to talk to him he didn’t seem surprised and subsequently, there still wasn’t any answer on the number proudly advertised in the room.
5. Arriving in my room, I noticed that my safe wasn’t working- ergo attempt number 1 of 25 to call reception.
6. I encountered the smallest bathroom I have ever seen. So small, literally, when using the toilet you cannot close the door because your legs are in the way.
7. I had a neighbor ( adjoining room door) that decided he would disregard the non smoking floor rules. The stench of his cigarette smoke wafted through the gap in the door . After attempting another unsuccessful call to reception,I took my next trip down the stairs to ask the duty manager to take care of the situation. In his defense he did attempt to sort it out after my third trip down to reception. However, I was entertained by my neighbor the rest of-the night by following his conversation which I could plainly hear in the hallway and in their room. Sorry folks, no soundproofed rooms here as advertised.
8. The hotel has a bar on the sixth floor, with music that can be heard on the opposite side of the hotel on the 2 floor. So no need to walk up the 6 flights to enjoy the show. Just stay in your room, you can hear the music just fine.
9. Arriving back to my room on the second night, I found I could not get in the door. Guess what, another trip down the stairs to have my room key re activated.
So, in summary, I am still looking for a new hotel to be used by myself and my employees. We won’t be stay here again. Literally the only thing pleasant about my stay here was the breakfast. It was excellent.

Despite having a very uncomfortable start to our stay, the manager and his staff, ensured that the issues were sorted out and made the rest of our stay a very comfortable and enjoyable one. Housekeeping needs to pay attention to details. Apart from that, the hotel staff from the porters to reception were friendly and efficient. The breakfast, as always, was excellent! Some of the breakfast staff could do with being more pleasant. Generally a great place to stay at.

Waited for more than an hour at the reception to be attributed a room while payment was already done couple of days prior to the visit. Staff requested a second payment which I had to decline because they did not want to cross-check with their finance department. The staff was not helpful at all when asked to provide directions to where the foodcourt/restaurants were. The standard room was decent however very cold due to a centralised AC system which is not convenient during winter time. No water bottle was provided during our stay while coffee/tea was given.

Quick one night stay to attend an event. This 3 star property is not particularly glamorous with small compact rooms but have the basics of what you need including an iron. There are ice machines for self service and an all day dining place on the ground floor. Plenty of safe parking. Check in process was smooth, the rooms well cleaned and the service better than expected. It was over the weekend and the hotel was full. There are a lot of rooms so peak breakfast period was busy with lines forming outside the restaurant and at reception so eat early. Despite the busyness of the hotel the staff seemed to be on top of things so kudos to them for keeping the wheels on. I'm pretty sure I would stay there again. Overall a good stay without any hiccups.

After numerous requests for bath towels, 4 adults had to share 2 bath towels. This is totally unacceptable. I did complain at reception and i was told "sorry". In my opinion, sorry is not enough. I suggest housekeeping is trained properly

The Emperors Palace Shuttle service is a complimentary service offered to our guests travelling between O.R. Tambo International Airport and Emperors Palace. The Shuttle runs every 20 minutes from 06h00 and 23h00. Early Shuttle is also available on request, at 30 minute intervals from 04h00 to 06h00.
There are more places to choose from in the Kempton Park area.
