Very beautiful hotel with a classic style, inside there is a casino, and the entire hotel complex is very similar to Las Vegas, it has several shops and restaurants (some excellent - I recommend the Greek restaurant) which makes logistics much easier. The hotel is close to the airport and far from the city, so if the idea is to enjoy the tours it may not be the best option.
Tidy, clean room, with a nice view of the pool. Breakfast is a la carte style (so, plan a nice time to drink coffee slowly and enjoy) - if you have opted for a daily rate with coffee, it is included and you can choose as many options as you want.
We used their shuttle to get to and from the airport, which leaves every 30 minutes and the service was great.

Beautiful reception area. Stunning decor over the Christmas holiday.

Unfortunately the overall stay wasn’t great. The hotel isn’t very kid friendly. I requested a kettle for the room as I was traveling with my 1 year old and needed to make his bottle. Both reception and housekeeping blatantly refused and didn’t try to assist.

Resturant downstairs was decent , the host was pleasant and welcoming. But again, the Resturant did not cater for kids. We requested a baby chair , after refusing to assist - they eventually brought us a baby chair. Every morning for the 3 days that we stayed - this was a problem for staff.

We also requested a cot for the room , which they happily assisted but every day the cleaning ladies would dismantle it and remove all the sheets so every afternoon we had put this cot together.

The housekeeping staff did not put in clean towels and we had to make 6 calls to reception and housekeeping for bath towels.

Definitely not what I expected.

Clean and very well soundproofed room; comfortable beds and varied amenities. Complimentary water. There is a small balcony (only on the 1st floors) that we did not enjoy because of the cold of the time we were.

Very large hotel which is a mini-city in itself and very much to the “English” taste... decoration, type of details in room and type of bathroom.. carpets, lamps, corridors and internal balconies...; includes Theatre, Cinema, Casino (with “Egyptian” reinterpretation decoration) and Artificial Street (with Italian decoration and trappings) with shopping area (European price) and reasonably priced restaurants and very Pro staff.

Suitable for people with reduced mobility.

Very friendly, resolute and non-invasive staff (just notice they are).
In card payments leave at your option the % tip you want to leave. (prefer payments by that method).

Breakfast with table service for hot dishes in a nice glazed annex on the ground floor overlooking the manicured garden
Notable:
- Good darkening curtains, amenities, complimentary hair dryer and water.
- Cleanliness that caught the eye: bedding as newly released.... Even common areas, access, etc.
- Minibar , A/C – heating, safe, extra blanket.
- Variety of pillow and cushion type.
- Diligent and Pro staff. Everyone speaks English.

On the plus side - the breakfast was good and the hotel is close to some nice restaurants and the airport. That aside it’s very difficult to find my other positives.

The rooms and bathrooms are dated and don’t appear to have been renovated since the hotel was first build 25 years ago.
WIFi was a significant issue - we could barely get any WiFi in our first room and after half a day we were eventually moved to a different floor. The WiFi I; t(e new room was much better but it would still kick out for 30 seconds every 5 minutes or so. The TV signal was based on the WiFi which meant it freezing every couple minutes. I tried to watch some live sports which was impossible.

The shower temperature would randomly alternate between hot to cold and was unpleasant and dangerous. The bathroom towels were hard and not nice to use. The toiletries were good quality.

My wife booked a spa treatment and it was an extremely unprofessional and non-spa like experience. Spa treatments should be quiet noice free relaxing experiences , without constant maintenance and very loud people noise.

General staff service was ok , with some good and some not so good , but nothing happened quickly.

Overall the hotel is extremely overpriced for the quality and experience and I would not recommend it to anyone.

We were booked into the hotel by our travel agent as we had a stopover in Johannesburg
Even getting to the hotel was troublesome . All the other on site hotels were clearly sign posted , theEmperors Palace was not . When calling the hotel we determined the shuttle bus only arrived hourly and used by everyone going to the casino and children’s play area, as opposed for the sole use of hotel guests
The hotel was dark and dingy, the restaurant had been closed since the start of August and scheduled to be finished by the end of October.
The guest lounge is closed Monday to Friday, so if you want to leave your room you have the option of two sofas in the reception area.
We felt very vulnerable whilst in the hotel and were ever challenged or questioned when we re entered . The lifts had a security fob to stop non residents entering the bedroom floors- it did not work
If you are thinking of booking don’t and if you are booked in change it

Dear Noblefamily1966 I humbly write this letter to apologise for the unfortunate situation created when you checked into our hotel. The experience must have been one of the worst, arriving at the hotel and not receiving the service we are well known for. I want to assure you that it is most definitely not the experience we focus on creating for our valued guests. We have looked at all the points you have stated, our restaurant is now fully opened, and we are working on reopening our Club lounge for our guests on a daily basis. Once again our sincerest apologies to you and your family. Kind regards Doreale Grande Team

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for one night during our short time in Johannesburg.

The hotel is clean and all the staff were really lovely. The breakfast choice which was included in our rate was really extensive, I chose the farmhouse breakfast which included sirloin steak. The plate was massive so next time I would go for something more manageable.

The only downside is the hotel location, yes it is very close to the airport and butts onto Emporer’s Palace but other than that there is nothing else around.

Making a stopover in Johannesburg we stayed one night in this gigantic complex which includes various hotels. We chose this one and were very satisfied. First of all, it is located 5 minutes from the airport and then they have a free shuttle that runs every 30 minutes from the •arrivals• and takes you to the hotel. Very kind staff. Absolutely nice rooms, very large and comfortable beds. There are various restaurants for dining and the cost is absolutely average. Delicious dishes. If you need to stopover or sleep for a night, in our opinion this hotel is excellent.

Check in was great.

Location is good if you need to stay for a night or so if you need to stay more nights you better of with other hotels for same price.

Its definitely not value for money.

We got a room on 1st floor was very noisy.

Rooms run down

Furniture run down

Bathroom very very tight.

Staff not the best and have experienced better customer service at marriott.

Marriott in melrose would be far greater choice!

Peermont D’Oreale Grande Hotel. Grande it certainly was, being part of the Emperor’s Palace complex near to Johannesburg airport, comprising three hotels, casino, conference centre, shopping mall and food mall and other facilities that we were not party to.
We arrived many hours before we’d anticipated, but we were able to go to our room which was perfectly acceptable.
Our light lunch however was something of a lottery, as some items that we’d ordered duly arrived, but some did not, while items that we specifically had not ordered were brought to our table. After lunch we decided to relax for a few hours by the pool, only to be confronted by a situation that as far as I was concerned was unprecedented. There were as many ducks as sun beds around the pool, but no duck restrooms were provided so the area around pool was liberally populated with duck ‘poops’, which made the area less than pleasant to say the least - other descriptions are available. We had to request that the area was cleaned and a less than thorough exercise was eventually conducted, but by time it was completed the ducks had returned and rendered the exercise more or less futile.
After an hour or so by the pool and watching the dismal attempt to make the area poop-free we returned to our room, prior to venturing forth for pizza in the Italian Kitchen, not wishing to repeat our lunch experience in the hotel restaurant.
The hotel is part of an enormous complex and very conveniently located for Johannesburg airport, but for us it will be remembered for the ducks!!

We stay at the hotel very often and really enjoy it. The staff are great and the fact that you can wander to the casino and multiple entertainment venues makes it the best place to stay on a short stop over. There are a large amount of good restaurants, try Tribes for the best steak around or if you want to spend less the Spur is also great.

The only issue in the hotel is the swimming pool. There is a great pool area, nice sun beds and nice gardens BUT the pool is freezing cold and far too cold to swim. Please please heat it, it will make the whole experience even more enjoyable and would easily push this review up to a 5 star review.

I was at this hotel on July 2015 for one night and enjoyed it a lot. The renovation didn't disturb at all. The restaurants were open and there are many dinning options right beside it, with access from inside the casino or outside.
