The staff was very friendly and professional. We loved the farm, the thermal pools, and just everything about the place! One of the farm hands came out and talked with us personally and shared information about the various plants. We used Google Translate to help our limited Spanish-speaking skills. He was just a delight! The place was quiet and peaceful, and so beautiful. The breakfast was delicious. I had the Gallo Pinto every morning. Their fresh juices were so delicious, especially the pepino, apio, manzana verde, jengibre, y jugo de naranja (cucumber, celery, green apple, ginger, and orange juice)! At breakfast, the grounds keepers would place fruit slices in the trees nearby, so we could watch the variety of beautiful birds eat their breakfast. We took a raft float trip on the Penas Blacas River, and hiked the Mistico Bridges in Arenal National Park. We had dinner at Selva Rustico, which was wonderful.…
We spent 5 nights here and didn't want to leave. We had a family bungalow with 2 queen beds and a twin bed. There was plenty of room even with 3 beds. The bathroom was huge. Lovely little front patio with table and chairs. The restaurant is fairly small so we were asked to reserve a breakfast time, but I think they were pretty flexible about that, and just didn't want everyone showing up at the same time. Breakfast was really good, ordered from a menu. We had dinner one night at the restaurant and were happily surprised at just how good their pizza was. Staff was all really friendly. The grounds are really nice, with paved paths throughout, and to the back of the property where the hot springs pools are. I think there are 6 or 7, gorgeous little pools, and one big one, all surrounded by big rocks and lush vegetation. The hot springs pools are way nicer than I expected. It was so nice to wander back there in the evening and lounge in the pools. It was quiet, and never more than a few other people around. The bungalows are nice on their own, but the hot springs pools earn it extra points. Off to the side at the back of the property is a little farm, and guests are welcome to wander around and visit the animals. That was a lot more fun than I expected. :) They have all kinds of birds, donkeys, sheep, miniature horses, etc. While we were staying there we often saw a peccary on the hotel grounds. I thought it was a pig from the farm at first. :) Also saw some iguanas lounging in the trees. Would definitely stay there again.…
In short, my hubby commented he thought this could have been Eden before the bitten 🍎;) the landscaping was simply beautiful, with the walkways, cabins and buildings blending in nicely. Other than the occasional cocadoodledo or donkey heehaw (lol), it was a serene & lovely place away from busy Fortuna. As others have mentioned feeding the unbelievably beautiful variety of birds with fruit rinds on trees in the morning was memorable, the hot springs great after long days exploring the area, and we opted for a couples’ massage which was excellent. Would not hesitate to stay hear again if lucky enough to have the time and money to return.
We spent four nights here and we wish we could have stayed longer. The staff were fantastic, the property is beautiful, and the farm was a great bonus. The farmer was very friendly and he gave us a great tour of the farm. We did a lot of excursions in the area, so this was a great place to relax during our down time. We often had the hot pools all to ourselves after a full day of exploring. The hotel has fruit feeders near the restaurant which attracts dozens of colourful birds every morning. Also, the fruit trees and flowers growing around the property have many different species of birds around all day. One evening we even saw an armadillo as we were walking to the restaurant for dinner. The cabin was comfortable and we loved having Koki the donkey eating grass out behind the cabin everyday. We also loved our visits from Bella the pig as she wandered the grounds cleaning up any fallen fruit. We love to see birds and animals so this hotel was absolutely perfect for us! …
We recently stayed here for three nights and enjoyed the hotel very much. Lovely spacious cabin with large bathroom and patio with table and chairs outside. Staff was very friendly and very helpful and were very happy to make phone calls for taxis, restaurant reservations. The hot pools were lovely as was the swimming pool. And the farm was amazing…such a wonderful selection of birds and animals. And the bird feeding every morning at 7’ish….so many beautiful birds came to eat fruit scraps. Can’t say enough great things about this place.
This is truly one of the best hotel experiences we have had, the bungalows are spacious, clean and beautiful with porches, the grounds are beautiful, the hot pools relaxing and the working farm is fantastic. The staff are friendly and helpful, food was great, we loved everything about this hotel. We truly did not want to leave, we will be back!
This place was wonderful all around. We had a whole cabin to ourselves and felt like the whole farm was our home. Loved the animals around and view of the volcano. Breakfast was great every morning and we had dinner here one night (even had a vegan meal for us!). The hot springs were warm rather than hot but I think that is typical. We had a car to get around but it was centrally located so that we could get to all the places we went in a very short period of time. Highly recommend this hotel and would go back and bring friends!
From the moment we arrived, to when we had to check out, and everything in between, it was simply a wonderful experience! The staff is very kind and helpful. Elio went above and beyond to get us a rental car. The grounds of the property are gorgeous, the hot springs beyond relaxing and the food and drinks delicious! My husband and I highly recommend this wonderful, calming, beautiful resort like accommodation.
This hotel is a perfect option if you are looking for a different experience. My kids love the hotel, we’ve stayed twice. You will see so many animals, and the little ones love the farm and interacting with the animals. The hot spring pools are beautiful and relaxing and the food delicious. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms even bigger. The staff is exceptionally friendly. I wish we can come back soon.
Great Costa Rican secret very close to Arenal volcano - great service and reception staff who were comfortable to speak in English and recommended great activities in the area thank you. And I will be back.
