No working TVs. Dirty and licks don’t work well. Pool not working and no free breakfast. No plugs for tubs. Don’t fall for the cheap price. Staff is very very rude and treated us like we were awful when we asked about the breakfast that was supposed to be included. They said tomorrow. We went back the next day and they yelled at us there was no free breakfast.

Not really great. Not really clean. Damp. Dark rooms. Pizza place didn’t seem to be working at all. Although rooms are quite big with queen size beds, the sheets look dirty. The pool was only half full. I would not recommend this place, accept for the location right in the middle of everything.

Under no circumstances, should anyone ever stay at this place. We were told lie after lie. First we couldn't see the TV because of glare from the window. Then it was the cable was out. The TV, which had to be at least 25 years old & didn't have a remote, wouldn't come on at all, even if cable had been working. The A/C didn't have a remote and couldn't have worked, as the wires had been cut. When we complained at the desk, they asked if we made the reservation through a 3rd party, (Hotel.com) which we did, as if that should make any difference when you have a printed copy of the reservation showing. Oh, that room doesn't have TV or A/C we were informed. And, there were no other rooms available. As the reservation showed, it was to have flat screen tv, a/c & 2 beds, not just 1. Then , we were told we should accept it, as they looked the other way about our small dog, which contradicted what was shown on the internet and which we verified was ok by phone and on Facebook. The attitude was nasty and dismissive. One of the people said we'd be getting a working tv. I asked, if twe'd be getting an a/c unit installed-dead silence. Finally, we were told we would get a new room the next day. Next day, we were showed a new room which had 2 beds, 1 up against closet area so no clothes could be hung up. Again, non-wokring tv, At this point I had it and returned both keys & left. We paid to stay in a different hotel. When hotels.com tried to contact them about a refund, they couldn't be reached, which isn't so surprising, as they don't seem to deal in good faith.

Having just got home from a couple of weeks travelling in Costa Rica this was our first stop for a few nights. The room itself and hotel areas were comfortable and clean, however it definitely needs some attention, no shower head just a pipe sticking out of the wall, sink wasn't fixed to the wall, no plugs, aircon unit was extremely noisy, the safe didn't work it was broken, during heavy rain the only set of stairs between the two floors became a very large shower (leaky roof I guess), the pool needed at least another 300mm of water in it to fill it up, the jacuzzi doesn't look like it's worked in years and is empty, I'm not sure why but we had no breakfast even tho on here it says complimentary breakfast, there was plates placed on the tables during the day but food didn't seem to be on offer. Oh and watch your towels, the towels in two of our rooms weren't replenished one day, we didn't bother to try to report this as the staff didn't speak English and we were leaving the next day, the rooms were checked before we could leave and they tried to charge for these very worn bits of material!! On the plus side the view from the upper floor is amazing, the location is very good and the people who worked in the trip sales booth were very helpful. If you're going to visit La Fortuna I'm sure you could do better.

Don't waste your money! Not sure of the price as this was booked by our tour operator...and he was not impressed either. I expect they were looking for a cheaper option, which is totally understandable, but it was awful. Room was very dated. I'm usually ok with that if it was clean...NOT. A couple of bare outlets, dirty corners and disgusting Air conditioner. And i haven't even started on bathroom. Sink and tub dirty and splattered. Wall beside sink splattered. Tub was jacuzzi but no tub faucet, as if I would have EVER used. Had to climb in to use shower. Shower head had no nozzle so water just waterfalled out. Finally figured taps were backwards to get hot water. Actually bed was not bad....if the sheet had fit. I threw off bedspread and used my own towel for blanket. We did have pizza and it was delicious. Ordered a beer first, waited forever and got it with no glass (it was in a can). What surprises me most is, I am really not a complainer and don't write reviews like this. I realize where I am and don't expect 5 star. Clean is most important. This place failed that on every level.

After Colombia and Panama, I'm finally in Costa Rica with a friend of mine. Most of the hotel staff is nice, but one staff member is extremely disrespectful. She knocked on our door to wake us up and check-out before we had to check-out. The room gets really hot!! The window air-conditioning unit doesn't do a bad job, but it's hot when you arrive to the room. There were also ants crawling on the shower ledge to step into the shower. I think you can find better places to stay to enjoy the activities in Fortuna.

Suggested by a tour operator in Fortuna, we were looking for a cheaper night after our other accomodation. For the price for one night, is ok. Rooms in different condition so worth to check if you can choose. Basic interiors, worn down walls and bathroom. (Who would even have a bath there? why bathtub, no clue) + location few minutes from centre + good parking + nice view of volcano on clear day + pool seemed clean + fresh breakfast (basic but tasty) - dirty bedsheet (when reported, it took time till someone appeared to do something. Then they suggested we change room. (Why not just change sheet?!) So after some back and forth I went to other empty room and took a clean bedsheet)) - no amenities, no soap - TV broken - no explanation at check in ( like there was safe in the room but needed a key) - hard beds - curtains super light so everyone can look in to ur room (sunlight early morning) Great potential there but not much effort, need a big renovation and could be a super hotel.

This hotel is located in the middle of the town, near everything. The rooms has different quality. The air conditioner in our room exists but works badly. The hotel has a small pool and a restaurant. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is simple but it works. The hotel has a laundry service that mixes up clothing but it works.

Front desk were to the point of rude, there were no free breakfasts. We stayed 2 nights and the first morning we asked and they looked at me like I had three heads. They said tomorrow.... Went back in the morning and...nope. Hot tub isn't functional and apparently hasn't been for a long time. Were told there were big tubs as my husband had a bad back, well no plugs for the tubs so they were useless. No remote for the TV and no one spoke english at the front desk and they really couldn't be bothered to help anyway. The room was not clean at all.

The hotel was all right. Centrally located. The safe was broken and the towels were dingy. The bed was comfortable. Their breakfast was big but no fresh milk for coffee. Only powdered milk. Their orange juice was tang but I woke up to a million dollar view.
