We traveled for our anniversary to this beautiful location. Absolutely stunning landscape they have at this lodge. We travelled all day and arrived late, Luis at the front desk was so friendly, patient and professional. Checked us in no time, giving us activity options and such. Our room was so sweet overlooking the beautiful garden and behind the majestic Arenal volcano ( which we didn’t know until later next day, cause it was pretty cloudy at that time) The staff surprised us with some wine for anniversary and very creative birds made out of towels surrounded with flower petals. The restaurant at the hotel has everything you could imagine. Delicious food good friendly service great drinks. Breakfast buffet is perfect. Robert and Jose were super sweet great service. Thank you. They have two cold pools with small children pools and two different thermal water pool with different temperature, one of them has a swim up bar. I have so much more to say but I will let you discover on your own. My suggestion to you to take the private shuttle service from the airport or back. Much quicker and the drivers are experienced. Driving can be difficult on the curve mountain roads. Eat drink and be prepared to be amazed. Pura vida!!!

Awesome rooms, great vegetation, great service & staff, and great food!! Stayed at the RIU GUANACASTE as well during this trip. But, that hotel is more COMMERCIALIZED, and while their service & food is great, its not as deliciously prepared.

Could be so much better with TLC. Can see through door frames (which means bugs get it easily) windows don't work tight,no screen door so can not open doors, water in shower lukewarm and trickles out,Bed is horrible. Not enough staff for personal touches. No wait service except in restaurant. Property is beautiful. Love that they make the effort for environmental care

This was a fantastic experience. There is very little that would make it better. I’ll admit that I had my doubts - the sign is a little dated and hokey by US standards. The name itself is also a little lacking. But that’s where it stops. The room was great. The pools were amazing - especially for kids. There was a pool right outside our room where I never saw another human being. They have amazing trails around the property! Everything is impeccably manicured. The breakfast was delicious! And there were so many choices, local and tourist-friendly basics, which work well for kids. Honestly they had the best banana bread I ever had ever eaten. There were so many breakfast options, but still with some variety every day. I’ve never been to a swim-up bar before. That was really cool, and we got non-alcoholic kids drinks and watched soccer from the bubbling hotsprings. The staff were very nice and friendly. So what could have been better? - At the main pool, the service for ordering was not straightforward. You need to go to the bar, and things can take a while. - Honestly the resort could make a lot more money by simply hiring another server and have them wander around the pool area taking orders. Or maybe even 2. - The lunch and dinner food choices weren’t great. They could use better “happy hour” options for snacking at the pool. Get an Uber to La Fortuna for dinner. Also, it seems like all beef in Costa Rica is chewy. - As I mentioned, the branding belied the quality.

When I arrived to the lodge, I walked throughout the grounds, and I immediately felt relaxed. The clean grounds are very inviting, especially the thermal pools. The rooms are clean and spacious. The food and drinks at the restaurant are good to fair. Stephen the waiter is exceptional. At times, the service is slow and management either has to hire more people or motivate their existing staff to work faster.

Beautiful grounds, several hot spring pools and a comfortable room. This hotel was very comfortable and enjoyable even though it poured with rain and we never saw the volcano due to low cloud! There are many things to do in the area and we enjoyed canyoning and white water rafting. You need to get an Uber or taxi to get into La Fortuna.

Absolutely immaculate property all around. Food was very good. Service is friendly and accommodating. Breakfast buffet is plentiful and delicious. Front desk was very helpful anytime we needed something. The room was SPOTLESS and very fresh considering it's in the rainforest - no hint of mildew or musty odors. The property is close to all the activities but it feels very private and hidden once you're inside the gates. Sloths spotted from the parking lot! My favorite thing after a long day of physical activities (hiking, horseback riding, ATV riding, etc) was 2 for $9 Happy Hour and soaking in the hot springs. Ahhhhhh

Loved this property. The lush grounds were always being worked on and were filled with tropical birds and flora. Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed sitting outside watching the birds. Breakfasts were heavenly: everything you could imagine and then some: tropical juices, coffee, baked bread, pastries, eggs to order, plantains, yogurt, cereal. All in a pleasant setting with birds outside feeding on provided fruit. Dinners were delicious and staff super friendly willing to make our mango daiquiris and putting on a wonderful dessert show with the flambeed pineapple and bananas! Pools were delightful and in a natural setting. Convenient location for activities and tour pickups and drop offs. We saw a sloth on our first tour right on the property and toucans on our return! A great start to our first Costa Rican adventure!!
