Do not book anything with this hotel. Do not stay at this hotel. Guaranteed you will regret it. Don’t just take my advice, look at all the other horrific reviews. They stole $110 dollars from me !!!! I have evidence and proof, look at the screenshots attached. If anyone is considering staying here and wants more information about what happened just message me. In short, I booked a few transfers with the hotel organised by Mauricio (see pic - so you know who to avoid). He knowingly booked me a fake transfer and made me pay the full $110 in cash upfront (despite me asking if I can just pay the driver on the day) as it’s the “only way”. He messaged me the day before the transfer saying it wasn’t going to be coming and I need to sort it myself!!!!! By this time every tour hut was closed for the night and I already had accommodation booked in the next place and the current accommodation had no room for an extra night. He knew I was a young girl and had no regard for the position he put me in. I ended up having to get several public buses and private taxis at 4:30am instead costing a fortune. Mauricio promised me (see screenshots) he would refund the money. Fast forward a week of me chasing it up and him ignoring my messages, HE BLOCKED ME ON WHATSAPP. This man is a thief and a criminal and didn’t hesitate to steal my money. And he committed fraud by selling me a transfer he knew was never going to come (apparently it’s not a common route so shuttles don’t run, which he clearly knew as a shuttle company but didn’t tell me!!!) Fast forward again, we contacted the hotel directly who at first tried to deny Mauricio works for them - even though the shuttle ticket (see pic) has the hotels name on and he operates from the hotel and is all over their reviews 😂. Despite him “not working for them” the hotel said they will take responsibility and refund us the full amount. Finally we thought we will get our money back……. big mistake the hotel don’t care and are happy to steal the money as well. They NEVER REFUNDED us despite giving full assurance they will and have also now ignored all our messages!!!!! Soon they will block us as well I’m sure. STAY AWAY.

Avoid this place at all costs! Don’t book any tours or accommodation with this company. READ THEIR REVIEWS!!! They’re cheap because they don’t organise it! They just pocket your money. They stole $110 dollars from me! Me and my partner arranged transfers with this company for La Fortuna, Monteverde and Tamarindo and a thief called Mauricio assured us that all transfers would be booked. We paid and there we were stranded in Tamarindo. We messaged him days before to ensure all was sorted. After being ignored. He never arranged the transfer. We demanded a refund. He ignored our texts and blocked my partners number. We then contacted the hotel ‘CABINAS LAS PALMAS’ to hope that they would resolve this issue. They stated that Mauricio did not work for them. Yet he’s ALL OVER THEIR REVIEWS. Receptionist/guide are some of the titles used to show his employment with the hotel. Review after review of “Drunk receptionist” yep that’s him. He was drinking beer whilst we were booking our transfers! Really professional. If he didn’t work for them, then why would they be willing to refund us the $110? Anyway they said we could get a refund but only in cash….we were now 273km away….they knew we couldn’t collect the cash. Eventually they said they will send via SNIPE if we can find someone with an account. Thinking we probably couldn’t do this… well, we did, and guess what….they ignored all of our messages just like Mauricio. The whole hotel/tour operator organisation are liars and thieves. STAY WELL AWAY!

We spent 3 nights at Cabinas las palmas. Here we had a fantastic stay. The location is good, you are close to everything. The owner was nice and helped us well. We booked a tour with him. This tour was very fun, had a good price and very nice guide (thanks Mauricio ☺️). He also booked a transfer to Monteverde and a zip-line tour there for us. Furthermore, the room was good, especially for the price. We had a spacious room with an AC. Breakfast was also very good. So overall, we had a nice stay! Muchas gracias!

Cabinas Las Palmas is right in the centre of La Fortuna. The rooms are simple but super clean. The staff are very helpful and go out of their way to help you. I highly recommend the “combo tour”. Organised by the owner and his friend who is a local tour guide. This is not a huge group tour and had personal touches. The guide was very knowledgable and friendly. I would visit again, I only wish my room had A/C!

La Choza Inn who did not respect our confirmed reservation booked us at this place. The rooms would have been OK but my mattress was extremely bad and I felt each spring. We were charged 45 US $ for a room without breakfast that costs 34 on booking.com including breakfast. Half of the hotel seemed to be occupied by the owner's family and guests were denied access to the public kitchen until they had finished their morning meal. Generally the owner wasn't too friendly, his son was quite nice when he received us the first day. The friendliest person of the hotel was the mad who additionally did a good job in cleaning. Internet was working more or less; the room had a fridge, a TV and a couple of outlets, but no hook or shelf to put our belongings. We felt that nearly everybody in La Fortuna tried to scam tourists by overpricing their offers.

This is not the Taj Mahal. Still interested? Good. This place is clean, comfortable, and convenient. I give it five stars for its class. If you want a luxury resort, this is not the place for you. Frank, assuming the owner, was friendly and accommodating. He booked me on an Arenal tour that blew my mind. The guide was an encyclopedia of jungle knowledge and even made us a salad from things he picked out of the jungle. Super cool. I felt completely safe here as a solo female Traveler. I didn't worry about my belongings and had zero issues. There were a couple ants here and there but like the jungle guide said, let them come in and clean the house while you're gone. LOL. I planned on staying one night and ended up staying four. The cat, Tegresa, may have influenced this from 4 stars to 5 stars. :)

The room while small and simple, it was very clean and comfty. Great locatiom right in the center of La Fortuna, near many restauranrs and stores. The hotel offers options for tours and the cheapest one-day pass for Baldi Hot Springs. I'll be visiting again.

We got let down and used this place for an overnight emergency stop, after our travel plans backfired at little .It is very basic and impersonal but clean with an attached restaurant again of the basic variety . It is also usefully situated right in the middle of town . It's quite noisy but cheap at about £30 per night . Probably best suited to backpackers , and not a place to linger in for too long , but totally adequate .

Cabinas was in a great location, and the staff and owner were helpful. The kitchen where they sell meals has great food. The kitchen for guests to use needs some upgrades. There was no screen on the bathroom window so the bugs got in at night, but we did not mind. Overall we felt it was a little overpriced, but a great place to stay.

Location is convenient- just 100 metres from the Main Street and town centre. Basic rooms were clean, shower was hot. A/C and wifi worked. Hotel photos are very misleading. The entrance and first impression of the place is run down and shabby. The back street location next to a lumber yard doesn't help. We were given small hand towels when we asked for bigger we were told they didn't do that. They charge 7% extra to pay by credit card and that wasn't advertised to us in advance There is no safe and as we had an expensive laptop we asked where we could leave it - the owner said it was fine in the room but we were concerned about security so he said he would keep it safe in his house, when my husband went to fetch it - it was left on a side table in full view. Everything we asked about seemed too much trouble for the owner and he never ever smiled. My photos attached show the real picture. The owner probably should work in tourism as he seems to be permanently grumpy and is not at all friendly. He seemed annoyed that we wanted to look at the room first and check the AC worked etc. We didn't try the on site cafe as the owner was such a miserable man we didn't feel welcome. The rooms are opposite a supermarket there are lots of restaurants and food stalls on the Main Street catering for all tastes and budgets and there is a small bakery in town.
