Comfortable room with AC. Clean. Nice kitchen atea and hammocks to relax in. I had two private rooms - not the one with bunks. Affordable. No pool. No breakfast included. Nothing fancy. Just a good night’s rest in a SAFE location very close to the city center.

My kids and I checked in to this hostel in the middle of July. We were super excited to be in Costa Rica. The fist person to check us in was Danny. He is super friendly and helpful. The guys behind the counter barely cracked a smile. Upon check in, I had a question about transportation, the guy behind the desk still was not being friendly. My kids and I decided to go the swim up bar pool because it was warm. Being in the pool for about 20 minutes, we all started sneezing. Eventually, we got out because the sneezing was so bad. The bartender at the pool was no very friendly either. The next day, both my kids had bumps all over their bodies from the pool chemicals. When I told the front desk guy this, he barely had remorse. That night it was raining really hard, and we had leaks in our room. They totally fixed it. But again the costumer service was lukewarm at best when telling them about the leak. It is unfortunate that due to their customer service, I believe that is how Ticos are. I would not be returning to this Hostel ever.

Not amazing as far as design or luxury but for the price it is fine and close to everything you need in La Fortuna. The market literally on the grounds is a huge plus and Carlos was great at setting up all of our activities.

When I stayed here rooms were clean, beds were comfortable and showers were hot. It is conveniently centrally located and staff are extremely helpful, especially beautiful Ksenia who went above and beyond to assist me with tours, transport and other queries with genuine care and compassion.

There are 4 Backpacker Hostels in La Fortuna. Which makes it even more confusing. "La Fortuna" Backpackers Hostel is NOT a Hostel!! 4 crappy rooms no hot water, dirty sheets slept in my clothes on top of the sheets, kitchen outside full of trash and old food, bugs everywhere. Get worse!!! This place is 3-4 blocks from anything! NOT SAFE... special at night walking back at night. Manager would not budge on moving me to another "Backpackers Hostel" or refund me. As the pictures show: NO PEOPLE, NO RECEPTION DESK ( small table in the laundry mat ) to take your $! Nothing about this place resembles a Hostel. And don't book a tour with ANY of the Backpackers Hostels. Over priced!! On the street tour guides are a lot better

As a first time backpacker and also as a solo backpacker this is all in all a great place. Very open and easy to meet new friends, rooms we're real nice and inexpensive and the nightlife was awesome too! Absolutely no complaints in my stay here!

The staff were extremely unorganized and had my girlfriend and I running all over the place to just get a room. We reserved a room online days before arriving yet they didn't have a room for us when we went to check in. They sent us to their sister hostel down the road, where the receptionist tried her hardest to rip us off an insane amount of money for what we were getting. When we finally got a room at a decent price, it had limited kitchen access (couldn't get our food at night or early in the morning), and no hot water (not to mention huge cockroaches). Just don't go here.

Good location, walking distance to markets and shops. Pretty cheap it was $15 a night per person for the dorm. The dorm was for 6 ppl and one bathroom which was good. Kind of dirty tho. The shower didn't have a rack or anything to place your shampoo or soap. The door was such a hassle because it did NOT have a handle on the inside so you'd have to use your key to try to pull the door to open which wasn't easy. The guy said he'll "EVENTUALLY" Take care of it?? Also they don't accept cards so that wasn't the best. They do keep $5 as a deposit if you lose the key.
