This hotel has changed its name recently and it is also being renovated it seems. Comfortable room, great AC, super wifi, great location. The hotel is undergoing construction at the moment, so there was a lot of noise during day time. Staffs didn't speak any English, so that made communication a little difficult. Also, the fittings in the bathroom was not quite sturdy, that should be fixed.
My boyfriend and I stayed here last winter and were warmly welcomed from the couple. They were so outgoing and helpful and the place was clean:-) onto down the road from the other busy hostels, was nice and quiet
Excellent value private rooms a very short walk from the centre of town. It is quiet, and not a hostel as such - not really any socialising with other guests. However, the rooms are big, clean and comfortable with AC and cable TV. There is a kitchen on site, though we didn't use it. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet the owner mentioned in other reviews, however the lady on site was more than help fuel when we needed, despite our terrible Spanish! If you don't want the rowdy hostel scene (we saw some in town that looked so messy...) and enjoy being able to go to sleep when you want, this place is definitely worth checking out!
First you have to keep in mind that La Fortuna is, itself, a tourist trap. Everything in a tourist area is more expensive than other locations. The hotel is easy to pass, it took me three times before I spotted the place. It has a sign out front for laundry service. This is a family run small hotel within walking distance to the main part of La Fortuna. The people are friendly and they have dogs, so if you fear dogs, this isn't for you. While I was there the 2 dogs were three months old and very friendly. There is a place to park, the back yard, if you do take a car to La Fortuna. The rooms are large as are the bathrooms. There is hot water via a "suicide shower." The place is clean and is well kept. I stayed one night for $40 USD. They do not take credit. The staircase to the upstairs rooms is metal and as you guessed if someone comes in late or gets up early the clanging and ringing of foot fall on the metal steps is sure to wake you. The ground floor units have a cover curtain that isn't opaque and doesn't completely cover the window meaning people passing the window can see into the room.…
I found this place to be very nice and comfortable. The room was spacious and clean, with air conditioning for a good price. The family who run the hostel are very nice and most helpful in offering advice in visiting the national park. The communal kitchen is basic, but has just enough to get by.
In past 6 years stayed here many times... - -New people have more than doubled prices.- A true ---TOURIST TRAP Wrote reviews of this place before with high praises, no more. Also in supposed "coin laundry" it cost me $10 USD just to dry 1 load of clothes.
Private bathroom, a huge room, nice garden: all for a very modest price! Plus: not a hostel where they try to sell you tours (since nobody speaks English!). On the other hand, rooms were a bit basic and the kitchen was poorly equipped (wonky frying pans and such)
We stayed at the PoSada Inn for two nights at the beginning of our trip across Costa Rica. We didn't communicate much with the owners since there was a language barrier, however they were fantastic hosts. The inn is located just a few hundred metres from the heart of La Fortuna, which made it a very conveniently located place to stay. You get what you pay for with the room. Basic accommodations, no hot water for the shower. If you're looking for a budget place to stay in La Fortuna, this is a safe bet. It had a beautiful garden in the back, plenty of parking, laundry service, and an open air kitchen for guests to use.
Posada Inn is pretty standard as far as basic hostel accommodations, but there are a few things that made this place great. The location is two-ish blocks away from the town center, so everything is close but the hostel is still quiet at night. And there's a cute little outdoor covered kitchen and seating area. No breakfast, but free wifi and hot showers. But it was really the owner Derek (sp?) who made the experience great for us. He's friendly and helpful and chatty and kind. He graciously helped with all of our transportation and tour reservations, and I particularly appreciated his helpful tips about which companies were locally owned and good for the local economy. His wife operates a small laundry, which I didn't think I would need, but in a place where it's always rainy and muddy, we were sure grateful for it!…
If you're looking for a cheap hostel, this is your place. The price is unbeatable. However, you certainly get what you pay for. When we arrived, there was a dead cockroach on the floor. One of the bed frames was being eaten by termites, as evidenced by the pile of wood dust on the floor. The other bed was full of ants. There was a car being worked on outside our window at 10 PM one night, in addition to the nightly blaring music from the skate park across the street. These are just a few of many issues of noise pollution. Positive: the owner is really nice, and gave us a lot of good advice. But thats about it.
