Booked via Expedia and they said they only book via Airbnb, so we were turned away. If booking through anything but Airbnb, you won’t have a reservation. The place looked cool and it was likely a legit but unsure. Place is a short walk from downtown.

This place it’s just awesome. Came with my boyfriend to have a calm breakfast and we didn’t wanted to leave! We were welcomed by a lot of dogs who were just down to play and follow us around the place. Mariano were very kind with us as he started to explain us the kitchen food process with no microwave and fresh cooked meals. As we eat our breakfast and drinks (very delicious by the way) we have the opportunity to meet the whole place that is full of wall arts and lettering from guests filled with only good phrases and all type of kind and lovely messages. The rooms looks cozy and really great. We promised to came back and stay with them, because it’s a place we’re you can feel the magic energy of the animals and the good treat of a working hard family that will make you feel like home. And last but never least, they also have a pig living in the place! A PIG!

Ok, so if you like unique hostels with character and charm, then this place is for you. The hostel itself is very aesthetic and colourful, and there are numerous spaces to hang out and relax. There is a hostel pig. I repeat: there is a pig that lives around the hostel! What more could you want?! The scenery outside is also very green and the owners are very lovely, plus there is a soda attached to the hostel for when you get hungry However, there is no wifi in the rooms (at least in the back room I was staying in), but there is plenty of other space in the hostel where you can use wifi Other than that, everything was brilliant. This is a really magical place And, if you're lucky, you may even be serenaded with a song before you leave :)

I stayed a month with my boyfriend in the wood house hostel. And we loved it! A lovely experience we will never forget. The people who run the place are super nice, the rooms and chill area’s get cleaned a few times in the week. There is art everywhere. We will never forget this place. When you are in La Fortuna go to this magical place! Pura Vida <3 Gabii & Jasper

We had a private room as a group of four. All amenities were clean. The shared kitchen is outdoors, there is an area to chill out on the balcony. Everything is designed with plenty of attention to detail, may it be the cute wall paintings or the decoration made from recycled objects. Nevertheless, be aware that the hostel is indeed a wooden house, our room had no proper windows but holes in the wall that were covered with fly-screens, so you might want to turn on the fan and apply some insect repellent to be safe. I still recommend this place since it is very unique and, moreover, cheaper than some other places around La Fortuna. Both the El Arenal national park & the hot springs are close by if you have a rental car. Plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops as well as a supermarket just a few steps away.

The hostel has name changed now it is calling the “Wood House Fortuna”a decorations from the 1970/80 with bright colors. There is 3 rooms upstairs includes shower and toilet. A kitchen fully furnished with a microwave and a fridge . The lounge is furnished with table and chairs, long couches, a outside patio furnished with table, chairs, 2 bed, rocking chair. Each room has 2 beds a double and a single. Bed sheets and towels supplied. The owner Agnes is a nice women and speak passably English. The place is situated going east when you get up from the bus station, and 2.3 km walk from the bus stop. The kitchen is a good saving for food the supermarket is just 200 yards direction the town .

Hostel Arenal To all who are thinking of visiting La Fortuna . I have the perfect place. Hostel Arenal Fortuna. My boyfriend & I just recently went there and found a little peace of heaven on earth . It was a beautiful place very clean, large rooms and the staff were awesome. They have the cutest swim up pool bar were you'll find the friendliest fun engaging bar tenders. Everyone makes you feel like family and the own Christian even came to hangout with us. Thank you Christian for the extra attention you gave us on our stay it won't be forgotten . There were lots of Fun and exciting things to do which Christian got us a good deal on, so you should book your excursion through him. We would most definitely come back. P.S. don't forget to go to the river and swing off the rope swing , lol great times

My girlfriend and I recently traveled to La fortuna on vacation and stayed here and absolutely loved everything about it. It had the most beautiful design, and hand made sculptures everywhere. The rooms were large, extremely clean, the beds were very comfortable, and the staff was so friendly we left feeling like family. We had so much fun in the pool bar with music and shots and enthusiasts and engaging bartenders. This place was amazing and I would recommend it to everyone. The owner also got us excellent deals on our excursions and gave us very personal one on one attention, answering all of our questions and assuring we felt comfortable. The hostel is centrally located and close to everything you would want to do while in La Fortuna. I'm definitely sure anytime I'm in this area of Costa Rica this is where I'll be booking my stay. We were also told that there are adding a volcano spa...can't wait to come back and see it!!
