Stayed here for three nights. Good sized room with lots of wood paneling. The bed was comfortable and the desk area convenient. But there is a bar in the same building and you can hear and feel the pounding all night. I can't sleep in this kind of environment and had to wear noise canceling headphones all night. Good location near Fuxing park in a rare, quiet section of downtown Shanghai.

This was a rather unusual place. It seems to be a tired grand place with spacious rooms but everywhere showing wear and tear, not seriously but just tired, which is OK at this point because old glamour shines through.
Location, location, location! A stone's throw from Fuxing Park. 5 minutes from Xintiandi. The center of the center, and yet not the glitz.

Pudi Boutique hotel is a great choice in Shanghai! The website does it no justice, as this really is a gem of a hotel!
It is a smaller boutique/design hotel, with around 50 rooms. The staff were very friendly, and very helpful in every possible way. The service is truly top notch.
Pudi is located just next to Fuxing Park, in the French Concession. It's convenient location made walking out for dinner, drinks, and shopping very easy.
The rooms are incredible in terms of decor. It was a successful marriage of modern, chic style and ammenities, with a predominately chinese feel. The entrance to each room has a large fish tank built into the wall, as well as an enormous tank in the lobby. Inside the rooms, an entire wall is windows, with a view of either the park or the street, with the blinds controlled by remote. The King bed is very comfortable, and we especially enjoyed the 'pillow menu,' where upon arriving you get to order which pillows you would like for your stay. The bathroom is stunning- a wet room for the shower, and the biggest stand along bath tub we have possibly ever seen.
Rooms are divided in half, so to speak, with a tv in the center that is on a stand that swivels around. On one side is the bedroom part, and on the other a large desk with phone, fax, printer..., some chairs to relax in, and the other side is the bed.
The top floor of Pudi is the restaurant, gym, bar, lounge, and outdoor terrace... again, all beautifully designed, very elegant, and with stellar service.
The water in Shanghai is undrinkable, and the hotel is excellent at giving plenty of bottled water to guests. Everytime we returned to our room, there would be at least six new bottles of water.
If travelling to Shanghai on either business if pleasure, Pudi is a great choice!

The employeers of this hotel are completely incompetent. Firstly they refused to give some invoice or receipt of booking (something that i need to show to the account of my company), in addition the English attendant was dark (not remember the name of attendant, we arrived at the hotel yesterday at 17:30)another issue absurd is that the hotel asks a guarantee of 1000rbm, something that is not informed in hoteis.com. incredibly our disorders not end here. We went to the Terrace to take the breakfast in the morning today and the official said that we couldn't take breakfast due to not have paid for it !!! obviously we already had paid and then the incompetent of the employer confirmed that we payed. Awful experience !!! And have only 3 options to eat in the breakfast

This was my fourth stay at The Pudi within 2 years and the property is being truly run down, rooms smelly, amenities broken, TV remote broken, beds mattress falling out of shape overall maintenance and room hygiene dropped and it feels like a Cheap motel. Noisy due to some construction noise and the aircon keeps making rattling sounds due to lack of maintainance. Quite disappointed .'

We stayed her based on a recommendation from friends and positive trip advisor reviews. We had a wonderful 5 nights here in March. The room was spacious with a large, comfy bed and the bathroom was huge with a jacuzzi bath. The room had free wifi and was non smoking.
The hotel location is great, right next to Fuxing Park in the French Concession. Close to Xintiandi and Tianzifang. We loved exploring the streets around which had some nice shops and food. We didn't have the hotel breakfast, there is a Starbucks around the corner (for Western food) and many small vendors serving traditional Chinese breakfasts nearby.
The staff were extremely helpful, assisting us with booking some train tickets as well as providing maps and booking taxis (and translating where to go). We highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

We stayed at corner studio of Pudi 3 nights. The hotel is location at around 5 mins walk from metro station and is close to the famous Hui Hai Middle Road.
If you like to walk, you may even walk to Tai Kang Road (where the art lane is located) and People's Square.
We did not try breakfast at hotel because of average reviews here.
Room is spacious, good wifi, huge bathroom, small kitchenette with microwave.
Gym room is tiny with a lot of dumbbells and two running/step machine, but acceptable for boutique hotel.
The problem with Pudi is also related to its location. There is a KTV lounge next to the hotel, that means noisy at midnight. We suffered three nights of poor qualifty sleep because KTV noises continued till 2 am or so. One more thing, the mattress is too soft based on Asian standard (likely this hotel is designed for foreigners)

pretty hotel, great location but expensive. First trip to Shanghai and the Pudi Boutique was a good stay. Located in a nice, quiet neighborhood adjacent to Fuxing Park and just a short walk to Xintiandi and 2 different metro stops. Nicely appointed room with very comfortable king-size bed, selection of pillows, large shower and separate bathtub. There was a desk and enclosed "balcony" with a large bench that overlooked the neighborhood. We were on the 6th floor and accessed Wifi in our room with no problems. Front desk staff spoke good English and were very helpful with any questions we had. On the 8th floor is a restaurant (that we did not try), a small business center where they will loan you a laptop to use, a small but nicely equipped fitness room, and an outdoor terrace. Room had a microwave and mini-bar fridge and bottled water was replenished free of charge every day. If you are interested in a huge hotel swarming with English-speaking tourists, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a small hotel in a quiet neighborhood on the edge of the former French Concession, the Pudi Boutique is great.

Dead fish in the fish tanks. Ground floor facilities closed due to refurbishment. Constant hammering and drilling noise during days. Hopeless service; no concierge; receptionist refused to help change flights with airline even though I couldn't do it as I don't speak chinese. Inflexible: breakfast only for one even though I made a booking for two. We stayed four days. I asked if we could have two breakfasts on two days of our stay. Hotel staff refused. Breakfast was meagre and a disappointment anyhow. Staff lacking knowledge and unhelpful regarding tours. Not a good hotel for leisure travelers. Only good thing about the hotel, was the studio room and the hotel's location in the old French area of Shanghai. If you want a truly great boutique hotel experience in China, go to The Opposite House in Beijing instead. Book a studio 70 room.
Brilliant service - staff will bend over backwards to help. Great facilities. Great food. Architecture and interior design, unique. Our room felt like the interior of Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House.

It is not often that the hotel photos match reality but this did. Our suite was superbly comfortable and stunning to look at. The staff from our warm and friendly manager down to the young lady at the door were attentive and helpful. The position was ideal for exploring but still an oasis of calm.
We cannot find anything to fault and recommend it to anyone especially, as we were told, "if you want a soft landing" for your first China experience
