Right next to Peoples Park on Nanjing Rd makes this place a great place to start out. The staff is very helpful as well. This morning at breakfast, Chef Peter offered me juice with lots of ginger. "It will keep you well" he said. Now, this is just as the CDC in U.S. advised non-essential travel to China was not advised due to coronavirus. He later came by and offered a refill, which I would have accepted anyway because it was so good!
Tonight in Epicure on 45, the fabulous 45th floor revolving restaurant, the food was great and the service excellent! My server was Ray, who was always right there, but invisible when I didn't need anything. He also was happy to answer, or find answers, to any questions I had about buildings in the view, as the restaurant slowly turned a circle with a full view of the city. Ray was absolutely splendid!
I recommend the Radisson Blu and both the Windows on the Park and Epicure 45 restaurants. Oh, and the 47th floor bar has a grand view of Shanghai when you're not captivated by the really, really good and delightful 3 member band (1 guy, 2 ladies, with the sound of a 6 member band!) doing an amazing repertoire of songs from nearly every genre. Love them! A great stay....thanks to all!

There was a slight problem during check in. The room we booked was not available (booked through Agoda) but the manager on duty upgraded us to a business executive level.

The pool was great with staff on duty. The warm, round "non spa" pool was welcome after the cooler pool.

My main reason for writing this review is to comment on the breakfast. It was all that I would expect from a hotel of this class. A wide selection of items both Western and Asian. Lovely brown grainy bread with spread including Nutella. Pancakes, pastries, fresh home-made yoghurt, usual Chinese bacon, and a selection of salads, cheese, sushi etc. As well as cook to order omelets and noodles they even fresh jianbings! The chef prepared poached eggs which were delicious with my iced Americanos.
You can add the breakfast for less than 100rmb to your room! Which is totally worth it if you ask me 💕

The best hotel in shanghai with good location and nice clean rooms. It also has really hospitable and kind staff, especially the restaurant manager (Mr. Benjamin Hu) who provided the best services for breakfast kindly. I also found that I lost one of my valuable thing in hotel after I left the shanghai and all the staff were so supportive in this regard.
I had a great and beautiful experience staying at this hotel.

This is a good hotel if it’s your first time in Shanghai. It’s close to all the major hot spots and a short walk to the metro. The rooms are clean and the staff speak English well. You’ll be opposite People’s Park which is a stunning morning walk with a coffee!

However, I was a disappointed. I booked 1 room for 2 people including breakfast and on our 4th day we got stopped and told the breakfast is only for one person. The excuse? Due to their untrained and inexperienced staff (their words, not mine) who didn’t know the rules we got lucky and let through unknowingly but we must pay extra for the other person now. The check-in counter staff didn’t pick up anything unusual when we arrived, why would one person want breakfast? They handed us our key on our first day and told us we have breakfast without making sure. It made us feel very unwelcome and after paying a lot of money to stay there for 5 nights it doesn’t leave a good impression being made to feel like you did something wrong.

I think that kind of excuse explains a lot about their customer service. As an expat living here, I would suggest that tourists be careful about being messed around with small details like that when booking online and at check-in. Also, don’t eat at the hotel cafe or restaurants unless you want to pay 99 RMB for a 500ml bottle of water when you can get one for 6 RMB across the road at the local FamilyMart convenience store. Don’t waste your money, this is an expensive city to be in!

All in all, I would return for the location convenience but not much else.

The staff here are very nice and friendly . The rooms are lovely and clean and are kept very well. The location is brilliant and directly across from the tube. However, we tried the buffet dinner . Advertised as open from 18.00 to 22.30 . We arrived at 19.00. The food was terrible . It is also mainly seafood with not really many other choices. The chef went missing from the noodle bar at around 20.00 and they started to cleaning all the food and drinks stand away by 20.30. The drinks such as cola and orange etc were all dead no fizz . We ordered a bottle of wine which was 300RMB and then had to pay 16.6% service charge on top of it which means the wine was 349.80RMB . Not sure why there is a service charge as they only open the screw cap bottle and put it beside your table . Just to also point out a can of Coke in the fridge in your room is 30RMB plus 16.6 service charge. We didn’t bother going to the roof top restaurant after eating this food as it was so bad. It was a Friday night so you would think it would be busy but it wasn’t. It’s a pity the food was so bad as the staff and hotel was so nice. When leaving to check out we were not asked how everything was . We had stayed here for a week.

I stayed in this hotel two nights for point redemption. Initially wanted to book normal room, but decided to book suite because of breakfast listed as a room features.
During late night check in I was informed that breakfast is not included. In the morning I had discussion with GSM and some of supervisor (maybe FOM?). I showed screenshots of website when I booked a room, where breakfast is listed as suite feature (it is not for a standard room). I was informed that this means that “I can buy breakfast if I want”. Funny fact is that it is listed among rain shower, kettle, working desk, coffee machine, etc. Interesting to mention that coffee machine was also not available in the room (although room was advertised to have one).
At the end front office manager said “she understands that it is confusing but this is error on Radisson website”. I still don’t have an answer who should answer for this error.
I was not asked about quality of my stay during check out (check out done by same manager).
After few days I received survey from Radisson Hotels. My very negative, detailed survey resulted in generic email from Radisson saying that “they are thankful for my feedback”.
I am not a frequent guest in Radisson portfolio hotels (now will be even less frequent), but I am or used to be the highest tier elite member for 3 biggest international chains. Spending more than 120 nights in hotels every year I believe I have a basic understanding of what to expect and how reservation systems work. As a regular guest I also have right to not care about booking codes in reservation system, but just require what I see on a booking page.
Despite my polite manner, moody and arrogant attitude of front office staff was surprising.
The only good thing about this stay is amazing concierge / baggage staff. They were amazing.

Check in at front desk took 45 mins with junior agent not trained enough and not enough agent behind the counter. Queue was mismanaged with locals cutting line to obtain a new key, our arriva was a nightmare with a room not ready at 3pm. I recommend management to relook carefully at the front desk management. The suite was spacious and with a good value for money, very difficult to find our way to our room and to the fitness center. Recommend management to encourage guests to not wear their shoes in the pool area for cleanliness purpose

Even though the Radisson New World is a non-smoking hotel I got today (22 May) a room with strong cigarette smell (room 5006) in the 5th floor. In addition this superior room is really outdated with a very small bath room with no walk-in shower but only bathtub which was even not really clean. Last time I stayed in this hotel I had a superior room in the 20th floor which was modern and had a large bathroom with walk-in shower.

I just went downstairs to ask for a new room which was rejected as the hotel is fully booked. They offered to move into a new room tomorrow if I pack my lugage in the morning. As I have a meeting already at 7:30am I asked whether I can pack and move in the evening instead , but this was rejected as they can only guarantee a new room in the morning. They could not even guarantee me to get a room with a proper bath room. This is not a customer friendly behaviour and does not fit for a 5 Star hotel!

A smelling room is already bad enough but

Bad check in experience as we had booked through agoda.com Indicated 3 guests and requested for extra bed but when we arrived we were told there is no more extra beds .Water temperature is very unstable , we were staying 4 nights and the water temperature is not hot enough.
Otherwise the location of the hotel is the main selling point .

We had a great trip to China, and Radisson Blu made it very easy for us. My family of five (me, my wife, and three teenagers) were very comfortable in our 2BR/2BA suite. The hotel was in a great location, near the metro, great restaurants. The staff was very welcoming and always helpful. I spend a lot of time in Shanghai for business, and plan to bring my family to stay with me at the Raddison Blu more often.
