We are from the US and stay here at the end of the China trip; it was a wonderful last stop. My only regret was we did not have more time to experience the hotel! We arrived via taxi and had issues paying the taxi driver (WeChat pay would not work for us) - the bellman helped translate and stayed with me while my husband found an ATM for more cash. The location was perfect and walking distance to everything; it was in a less touristy part of town, which we loved. We opted to pay for a late checkout of 6pm before our midnight flight, which was money well spent. Everything was perfect!

Location, location, location! The hotel is in the center of the JingAn district, walking distance to the temple. Tons of high-end shopping as well as quaint small shops. It’s right next to the Kerry Center and other malls where you can find all types of restaurants and food courts. There is not much of a hotel lobby, mostly a small check-in area. We paid for the breakfast, it was just ok. Breakfast buffet was about USD $40 per person, I do not recommend it, you can get much better options outside the hotel. The room was great, beds very comfortable and a gorgeous bathroom. Room temperature was too hot even after turned the heater as low as it could go. It was winter so temp was controlled too hot, no option to crack the window open.
Overall, the hotel is very good and location is great.

I recently stayed at the JingAn Shangri-La for an extended staycation. I was looking for a get-away in Shanghai after spending several months living at home.

I must say I was impressed by how safe I felt through my stay.
All the team members were wearing masks and I was impressed by how they delivered the breakfast buffet experience offering both a great variety of food stations while providing a very secure feeling.

My room was absolutely great; I appreciated the Nespresso machine and the L’Occitane amenities.

The gym is fully equipped with the latest Life Fitness equipment; it is so great I went there twice a day!

I am truly looking forward to my next staycation opportunity there!

It’s Chinese New Year’s Eve and we booked the Summer Palace for a family gathering. The appertizers came last, they didn’t serve the lobster, chicken nor the vegetarian dishes we ordered. The rice tastes like bad meat, chicken too salty and the expensive steamed fish was badly made. We were put in a chaotic noisy ballroom instead of the restaurant. Definitely never eat here during CNY ever again!

I'm from Hong Kong and a frequent traveler to China, and I only stay in hotels in Jing An area b/c of the convenient location to everything you need as a business or leisure travelers, trust me.

Reception - Check In was smooth and I need to thank JESSICA at the front desk with her exceptional services, excellent!

Concierge - Proactively offer assistance and thank you MARCO for making sure my packages are received and taken care of prior to my arrival.

Housekeeping - Very considerate with the two written notes from SAM, great personal touch.

Thank you again for making my 5 nights stay a very comfortable one.

it was really sad when we check in , we was just landed shanghai and earlier arrival , the staff showing quite bad attitude and also make me feel he is so arrogant . it was so surpriced that new modern 5 star hotel suppose give a guest make herself feels the hotel is home away from home . Anyway after discussion the problem solved but still feel not good and feel we are undesirable.
however we went to the buffer for lunch at 1st floor which feels good and good service , also we had dinner at xia restaurant , food was good and staff called andy is really helped .

My family and I just returned from an eight night stay in this incredible hotel. We are a large family of differing ages and I was quite worried about committing myself to one hotel for such a long stay. Let me say that it was incredible from the beginning to the end. Faultless, impeccable service, stunning rooms and just contemporary and with a great buzz in the best area of Shanghai. I would particularly like to thank Summer for her patience upon our arrival and the lovely guest relations manager Alex who was always willing to help us in the lobby. The concierge team (particularly Marco) were all just so lovely and recommended and booked lovely restaurants for us as well as perfect transfers. The rooms are spacious, immaculate and very well maintained, housekeeping is consistently perfect. We also enjoyed the pool, gym and spa. On our next stay in Shanghai we will definitely be returning to this hotel. Thankyou to all the fabulous team.

I checked in Pudong Shangrila on Mar 7th when covid just started to overrun Shanghai. When things turned worse I decided to move to Jing an Shangrila to avoid the worst hit Part of Shanghai at the help of Kenny Sho ,manage of horizon court of Pu dong Shangrila. When Shanghai was totally closed , everyone was confined to the rooms , guests in Shangrila were no exception. The food during the lockdown was not bad and abundant compared to ordinary shanghai citizens ,to which I am very much grateful . When I decide to leave Shanghai for Singapore , Sean ,manager of Jingan Shangrila was very helpful and managed to book a vehicle that is licensed to move across the river. Here I would like to give big thanks to all staffs in Shanghai Shangrila who helped me through the tough days of lockdown ,without whom , things could become far worse.

第二次来了!

这次是弟弟去英国读书的行前饭。

Fiona非常亲切,从点菜、上菜、拍照,她让我们有一个非常愉快的家庭晚餐。一流的服务。等下一个节日再来。

Warmest hospitality, excellent service, and wonderfully attentive by Fiona. Thumbs up and will definitely come again.

Delicious selection of food, desserts and wines. The dry aged rib eye was a treat to have between 4 people.

I’m afraid that we were not in a suite so I can’t really answer your questions. The “normal” rooms are very decent size.

Horizon Club breakfast was only available in the lounge when I was there. I was first assigned to a Grand Premier room unlike what was pictured on the website. And when I requested a room with separate living and bedrooms, it took a while for them to arrange it (over an hour actually). The staff doesn’t seem to know how the rooms are described and pictured on the website. I’d contact them beforehand to confirm the room details.

Yes, there's a thermostat. They have floor heating in the winter months, which is a big plus, not too common in Southern China.
