The location was convenient to many attractions and also metro stations, room was big and comfortable. View from the room was nice too. The staff's service was so so though..not really friendly but get things done at least. Wifi connection kind of not good oso, constantly log out after idle for some time. Breakfast also a big no-no for me, In the end I just have my breakfast outside.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights during September. We pick this hotel because it is just 5 minutes walk to our Shanghai Office. The bedroom is nice, complimentary drinking water is provided every day, towel, toothbrush, soap, shapoo, hair dryer, personal safe, kettle etc all are provided, for iron and iron board is on request basis (it only took the house keeping few minutes to sent to our room). They have gym and pool on level 11 if I am not wrong which open until 10pm. (There are lots of TV channels)

Breakfast is nice, combination of international and traditional Chinese breakfast, a lot of choices. Check in and check out is fast. 3 restaurants in the hotel which are North Korean food, Japanese food and a Chinese food to choose from. We tried the North Korean food which is ok. Or you can just take a taxi from hotel to a nearby mall in pudong (recommend:上海第一八佰伴 address: 501号 Zhangyang Road Pudong (addres in chinese:浦东新区张杨路501号) only cost you RMB14/trip. There are plenty of restaurant and departmental store.

Location: Only 15 Minutes walk from the subway station (Century Ave – 世纪大道), this station can connect to metro line 2,4,6 and 9.

I stayed in this hotel in June 2017 during my visit for CPhI, Shanghai. The hotel is located in the heart of Shanghai with many many exciting places nearby including shopping centers. Overall everything about my stay was excellent, right from the check in till check out. The rooms are large, cozy and comfortable with all amenities along with service and well behaved and well mannered staff. I enjoyed my 4 nights stay and will surely look forward to stay in this hotel again.

The room was generally well equipped and clean but the bed was very hard. It wasn't very near the metro either. Most taxi drivers were also not keen to drive back to Tong Mao Hotel from other areas, probably because they were unlikely to get passengers back. The staff was generally polite and responsive. Restaurant food were expensive and unpalatable. The spa there was fantastic though.

Room is spacious and clean. The hotel is nice looking, but interiors seem a little aged. There is not much life around save for various financial institutions like future exchanges and so on. Have to walk some distance to the subway station to go across the river to the other side where the city really is.

Local brand hotel which needs refurbishment. The hotel was old and facilities definitely required maintenance and replacements.
Lighting was not sufficient in the room. Only 3 lamps for the entire room, plus 2 light bulbs in bathroom and 2 more at the wardrobe/doorway.
The bathroom was not up to standard as well. The bathtub was sooooo dirty with black stains. The door of the shower area was not well fixed and water splashed out during shower. And bad smell from the drainage. :(
Found a used towel under bed upon check-in. And found 2 ashtray in the room which should be non-smoking.
Wi-Fi connection was super slow. As it is not an international brand hotel, the site content from its network was filtered (NO Google, Facebook, Instagram).
Air-condition was not functioning well and ventilation was not good. We felt a bit hot in the night and decided to open the windows in the rooms.
Not all socket on the wall were functioning. Failed to charge my phone and power bank in the last night and I nearly lost connectivity on my last day. :(
Overall bad experience and I would recommend to choose international brand hotels for better experience.

I stayed at Tong Mao for nearly a month and it was a more or less pleasant stay. Given some of the negative previous reviews, I was expecting much worse. My room on the 13th floor overlooking the Champs Elysee apartments and the gardens was clean and spacious. The bed mattress was rock hard but I got used to it. It also took me a few days to find the control to the A/C because it was hidden behind the curtains but once I found it and had better control of the room temp, it was fine. The wifi signal was not always great but worked most of the time. The hotel lobby has a bit of a fishy smell, which I suspect comes from the food served in the restaurants, but that is a small issue. Housekeeping service was fine, although they were a bit on the stingy side with toilet paper (I ran out once and took to hoarding a little extra after that). The front desk staff spoke passable English but the wait staff in the restaurants largely did not. The swimming pool is not free but the gym (with a few treadmills and bikes) is. The location (for my purpose) was convenient. It's about a 10 minute walk to the Century Ave subway station that has 3 different subway lines.

For the price offered, I took the gamble on location. It's a 15 minute walk to any Metro Station, but the hotel makes up for that shortcoming with the rooms.
Great bedding, mattress and pillows, which is not always a given in China in this category.
Housekeeping was very much on top of issues.
Great Japanese and Korean restaurant inside the hotel, their own coffee shop should not be your first choice.
Concierges speak excellent English and are very helpful with all issues.

I'd stay here again.
