I walked into the hotel and was instantly impressed by the upscale decor. There's a lounge on the first floor where you can grab a drink, smoke and relax while listening to a lounge signer and her accompanist. As a non-smoker who suffers from chronic migraines, I couldn't wait to get out of the lobby because the smoke was killing me. I was traveling with a large group that was checked in relatively quickly. I was excited to get to my room, more importantly away from the cigarette smoke. I get to my room and the whole room wreaks of smoke. I felt like i was staying in an ashtray.

My room was located just outside the conference center but you couldn't hear a thing which was great. The room was very clean and the bathroom was very romantic! The sink had a water filter (which i thought was nice). They provide a complimentary robe and slippers. My window opened to the highway so we kept the window closed to minimize the noise. Closing the vent helped with the smoke since we couldn't keep the window open.

We got in late and went searching for food. all of the restaurants close by 10pm so we were out of luck on that front. We were able to get some burgers and fries from Room Service, though they wouldn't allow us to charge it to the room! We needed to pay up first and in RMB only. The person on the phone made me tell her twice that we had the money before she would confirm our order *major side eye*.The staff could definitely be more accommodating and friendly but they weren't terrible. I'd give them 2.5 stars, somewhere between poor and average.

The hotel is about a 15-20 minute drive from the Bund and about a 10 minute walk from the metro. It's not likely that I'd ever stay here again. I'm sure a smoker would have a very different opinion of this hotel.

I stayed in this hotel recently, The hotel is situated on metro line 3 & the nearest metro station is Jiangwan Town around 1KM from the hotel.
The lobby of the Hotel is grand with shopping arcade & a restaurant at this level.
The security of the hotel is good as you've to swipe the room card in the lift to reach your floor.
Breakfast spread was good with a large variety keeping in mind Western & Asian tastes & usually served at lobby level restaurant Tian Di,
The main drawback of this hotel is its location, there is not much shopping places or Restaurants around the hotel.
Housekeeping staff was good & over all room amenities were great there is even a R.O in each room & Wi fi in the rooms.
Front office staff & the concierge staff was really very helpful & arrange taxis immediately on your request.
Over all the hotel is good value for money, but stands in a deserted area where nothing much to do around.

Location of hotel not the best but acceptable.
Service at the main entrance is non-existence and hopeless although 4 staff were assigned there but none gave any helping hand when I arrived in a taxi and when I left 4 days later, struggling to carry 4 pieces of luggage.
No assistance for getting taxi given during my stay and I had to walk out to the street to flag down taxi which were easy to get.
Other than the above, supporting facilities of restaurant and lounge are good.
Room is spacious but interior of the bathroom is dated and should be upgraded soon.

I had just arrived from Toronto and had a one night stay at this hotel.

When I first entered the lobby the first thing I thought was "wow." The lobby was so grand and spacious.

The rooms were very nice and clean with the staff being very helpful.

The best part was the breakfast buffet. The food had a large variety and had high quality. It was so good that I had stuffed myself by the end.

I checked in at this hotel on May 10th, 2013. The lobby and the other areas are very nice. They also offered me welcome tea. The room was also very nice with transparent bathroom. Though the bathtub was not useful as the water level of the bathtub was very low and the handheld shower on the bathtub was not working properly. The most pathetic experience I had with the air conditioner. I didn't realize in the morning when I checked in because I went outside for city tour after an our. I finally realized at night that the ac is not working at all and was literally sweating. I threw out blanket and tried to sleep because it was very late at night and had to go to a place called Yiwu early in the morning by Bullet train. I thought I'll tell them in the morning about the AC but didn't get time. On the second day I again came very late at night but I still called the room service. A manager on duty came and check and said the AC is working fine, they do not feel hot. I was staying in room # 913. Upon request, he changed the room to # 909. I thought may be the problem with this particular room. When I moved to the other room on the same floor, I realized that the AC is not working here either. The room service manager also told me if you feel hot, then you can open the windows which didn't make any difference for cooling but of course was getting outside noise. Didn't feel like to bother them again. Somehow managed to sleep with sweating. In the morning once again I went out for business. After coming back, I complained at the reception that AC didn't work for the last two days. They apologized for the same and accepted that the AC was not working but they repaired it and today it's working. I happily entered the room and turned the AC on. I t was better but still can't sleep with the blanket. Next day once again I woke up early in the morning and went out for business. Again came late at night and found the AC is not working again. I became frustrated but didn't complain because the next day was my check out.

I booked 8 rooms for 29.05.12 & 7 rooms for 30.05.12.
All done with confirmation in return and guaranteed by credit card and accor advantage plus. with every booking, i sent message to hotel that we booked 8+7 rooms. When we arrive hotel, the reception took my credit card and got approval for guarantee of RMB20,000.00. Then she informed we that we needed 3 more accor card, and told us she could not check us in without the 3 more accor cards (which we don't have). The front desk supervisor turned up and said the same. I demanded to talk to manager, the supervisor told us he has checked and it is still not possible. He told me that it would happen similarly in my City Kuala Lumpur. There was no tact. We called up CTRIP and managed to move to PARK HOTEL SHANGHAI where we had a pleasant stay.

I would strongly advise everyone to boycott this hotel.

I checked in after received the confirmation letter for accord.com. But the front desk told me no big bed room available. As it was later night I do not have other choices so I accepted the double bed. I enter 830# Room, one of the bed still kept concave which indicate somebody just left. I felt tired to change the room. But, after 20 mins I found the one (I do not know who) stays in the room before did not clash the closestool. I felt sick on this room that I have to change!!

I doubt if it is really MERCURE

Starting from the Checkin where my Credit Card was swiped for CNY 5000 - as a deposit for a CNY 3000- total room cost breakfast included .Stayed on the Executive Floor promising a host of advantages . Executive Room was just comfortable no frills no fruit basket , internet slow. Dedicated Executive Breakfast Room was a disaster - just a single girl attending who did not have a clue of my requirements as I was speaking in English . Pointed this problem out at the reception - but the next day was the same and the next day and the next day. Similar problem in the Cafe 180 - ordering food was an ordeal .

Have stayed at the Grand Baolong before - and have gone back to recommend this hotel to people. Now - if you are not a Chinese or Chinese speaking do not even think of staying at the Mercure Baolong in Shanghai

Upon entering the hotel, we knew right away that it was not a place to stay. Carpet in lobby was so filthy you wanted to sanitize your shoes after walking on it. Staff and Management rude and unfriendly. The rooms were not much cleaner. Definitely would not drink coffee in restaurant - coffee pot hadn't been cleaned in years .We were a group of travel agents and unfortunately were booked into it to sell it for future tours. They won't be seeing any of our clients.
