This is my first time traveling to China. Thanks to the staff's help and care, patiently explaining the constantly changing COVID lockdown situation, I don't feel out of place and thing's don't feel chaotic. They've accommodated all of my requests including the best suite available and food allergy requirements.

When the Shanghai 2022 citywide COVID lockdown began, I was staying at another hotel. We were forced to leave the hotel due to the pandemic and we were lucky to have the JW Marriott Hotel take us in when other hotels were all locked down. Even with all the chaos and uncertainty, the staff here at the JW Marriott were extremely professional and welcoming, immediately making us feel at home. While this hotel is a bit older, it does not feel old and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and condition of the rooms, lobby, and facilities in general.

For the past 3-weeks being locked down in this hotel, the staff has gone above and beyond to continue to provide the best service to keep us comfortable in this challenging time. Due to the lockdown, the hotel has been short staffed as many staff are locked in at home. Despite working extra shifts to cover the staffing shortage, being locked in the hotel with all of us guests, they're always serving us with friendly attitudes and smiles.

I'd like to thank the general manager Danny Parnack for his leadership and always taking the time to get to know each guest. Leo Yang has been amazing in keeping us informed about the lockdown situation, and most importantly, always bringing positivity and happiness to the guests. John at concierge feel like a neighborly uncle and has been a wealth of information to help me settle in Shanghai. Finally, I'd like to thank Claire, Maria, and Terry for accommodating all of our requests, helping us with whatever we need to work remotely in the hotel, and assisting with COVID tests when necessary.

Everyone I’ve encountered at the hotel were very helpful and very much up to JW standard, especially the porter (same guy on my arrival and departure). Very professional. The hotel is at a great location too. Very easy to call a Didi or it’s just a very short walk to Nanjing road and the Bund. But don’t expect too much from the room, it’s fairly old and worn out (the nightstand speaker still uses the Apple 30-pin connector, not even lightning or Bluetooth! lol). There’s not not of a “design”, but great view from the room in 56/F and the 59/F lounge. The breakfast offers a wide range of food selection but the restaurant is fairly messy and overcrowding (maybe because of the holiday season).

12-night stay at this distinctive property; one of the tallest buildings in Puxi. Located next to the People’s Square, this hotel is centrally positioned for the surrounding museums and attractions, alongside benefitting from extensive metro connectivity (lines 1, 2, and 8). The Bund is easily reached in 30 minutes walking along the pedestrianised Nanjing Road.

The Executive Lounge offers sweeping views across the city, a well-presented afternoon tea, and generous evening service. Breakfast was taken each morning in the restaurant (Lounge not currently open) with a good range of Western and Chinese cuisine, and organised egg/noodle stations. The restaurant does become quite congested later in the morning, particularly over weekends.

A particular highlight is the hotel’s extremely spacious and modern 24-hour gym, with a wide range of equipment, regularly cleaned, and never busy despite visiting at different times of day.

The hotel is in a great location and the staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. The hotel was apparently renovated a few years ago, but it still looks rather worn, and typical of the upper end hotels you saw in China in the early 2000s.

We booked the executive floor so we had access to the lounge etc. The room was amazing, very clean, beautiful views. The buffet breakfast in the morning was amazing. So much choice and good quality.

The only disappointing thing was the executive lounge. The complimentary drinks are generous, but the quality of the food is terrible. There was fried rice (2/10 score). I have had way better fried rice from roadside vendors, the pork was nice, the mashed potatoes very watery (as was the mushroom soup), and the beef kebabs smelled and looked like dog food. It was a very limited and low quality choice compared to what competing hotels, such as the Hyatt offer (it reminded me a low quality airport lounge).

My advice is book a regular room (all the views are great as the hotel lobby starts on thee 38th floor) and use the money you have saved to enjoy a night out on the town in Shanghai in a good restaurant or bar district.

This hotel is mediocre at best. We stayed here because my wife just arrived in China and we needed a hotel that would accept guests who just completed quarantine and didn’t have a registered digital health code. We picked this hotel for that specific reason and notified the hotel in advance of that requirement. Even with the advanced coordination, the check in staff still insisted that all guests must have a digital health code and that papers from the quarantine center were insufficient. While the front desk clerk backed down after I explained that it’s not possible for a person who just left the quarantine center to have such a code, I found the hassle off-putting.

At the times of reservation (one week before our stay) I requested executive lounge access and my employer’s travel arranger confirmed that access. At the time of check in, Lindsay (front desk clerk) said that I had access and explained the hours and amenities. About two hours later I tried to access the lounge but my key card didn’t work. I went back to the front desk and spoke to another clerk (Lily) who couldn’t find my lounge access in my reservation so she offered me “one time access for free.” I checked the lounge which only served soft drinks during the afternoon and nothing else until evening and then decided not to pursue the matter further as it didn’t seem worthwhile. I’m still annoyed that my request for lounge access was lost somehow and no attempt made by the hotel to find out why.

Breakfast is good in variety and quality but the dining room is dingy and poorly attended. On Thursday of my stay I had to instruct a member of the staff to clean a table for us. Many tables were vacant but still littered with dirty dishes and food crumbs. A guest should never have to tell staff to clean a table.

Room service was iffy at best. The clerk who took my order could not understand me and struggled with English. I understand that Wu and Mandarin are the languages of Shanghai but I consider English language assistance as part of the service that costs 1,650 RMB per night.

Despite all of the shortcomings in service, this isn’t a bad hotel. The rooms are clean, reasonably spacious, and comfortable. The housekeeping staff do a great job. The views are amazing as all of the guest rooms are on high floors.

In short, this hotel is okay but overpriced. It’s just not worth the premium. Throughout our week long stay we felt tolerated but not welcomed. I think we’ll try another place on our next visit to Shanghai. There are many other places available at this price range.

I LOVE Marriott! So I m more disappointed than anyone else!

I stay with Marriott all my career and all my holidays, I check to see if the distinction has a Marriott before I decide to go.

Tomorrow Square JW is like a home away from home for me. When I returned this time, the whole front desk is new and slow, lack of training made the check in process super slow and I finally gave up and left our passports at the front desk,
No one bother to return them and I finally asked to have them put in my room.

I started to do self service for my coffee at the breakfast, the manager is super busy and the waiters had no clue, walked around slowly and aimlessly. I felt bad for the manager.

When I checked out, they asked me twice if I had any expenses, I already informed them that I had no additional expenses.

Tonight I came back to stay at JW again. Called to order room service and the At Your Service answered the phone had no idea what are on the menu. The server came 4 times to bring the food, the ice cream first and of course by the time we eat them, they had melted even after I put them in the frig. The server brought the white wine in a red wine glass, 1/4 filled and he argued with me that it is 150 ml and said that his manager said it was enough, I asked if the manager had poured the wine, he said no. He took away the wine and returned with more and by this time the wine glass is sweating and I told him that I will sign the bill but he needs to serve the wine cold the next time, he was not happy with the feedback and walked away pouting.

The At Your Service called back and explained the failure, at 1 am! Said that they are all new. I asked if they are interns then they need people to supervise them, if they started to work then they need to act professionally, like know your products and like service the room service all at once, like knowing the difference between red and white wines.

A five star hotel should not be arguing with its loyal customers and explained its failure, what is the point?? and should have the basic professionalism.

I m so so disappointed. I asked to speak to the F and B manager tomorrow, the At Your Service lady said she does not know what is F and B and also said she does not know anyone because she is new.

Disappointed disappointed disappointed, what happened to my favorite JW???

47th floor corner room over looking bund area. It’s in the distance but there.
Respected platinum status , room was ok maybe slightly larger than most rooms but with a short bath and shower and large 55” or maybe larger tv.
Perfect bed, good sleep.
Visited in middle of golden week holiday and had to queue for breakfast maybe 15 min, I expect not the norm due to holiday. Good food.
Executive lounge was ok, rather dated with limited choices mainly snacky food was available.
All the nice touches you would expect were there, plug sockets both sides of the bed, good mattress, hot /cold heating, coffee espresso etc available.

I stayed at JW Marriott Tomorrow Square several times this month, and feel that I have to leave something here to this well acclaimed hotel.

Staff are the key of a luxury hotel, and this property has the most brilliant loyalty team. I talked to their loyalty manager Sherry once, about the issues I encountered when staying. Being quite caring and helpful, and adept in listening and talking kindly, she helped address all problems during my stay properly, and even paid attention to my following stays to attempt to make them more comfortable. She and her team definitely made my day.

Although it is a hotel with a decade-or-more history, the hardware is still stylish and well maintained. The suite room is not very large, but well arranged, with delicate decors. Suite rooms are on the side with amazing Bund views, and the lounge has kind of city view.

The location of the property is a big plus. It is right located in the city centre, with lots of museums, shopping complexes, restaurants and bars in a walking distance. And People Square is a transportation hub. The Bund is walkable as well, along Nanjing Road, which makes the living more splendid.

Overall, when choosing stay in Shanghai, this hotel is absolutely a wise choice.

极其失望的明日广场JW万豪体验,绝对不会来第二次

本计划一个非常浪漫的市中心周末之夜,于是定了明天广场JW万豪行政楼层一晚。没想到失望至极,
Originally planned a special weekend in the town but this extremely disappointed JW Hotel ruined everything.
行政酒廊对行政楼层房客按人头记。
What the fxck! The lounge counts guests from executive room!?

行政酒廊垃圾食物,品种少而且缺。居然要提示服务人员才提供小点心!
All right. The food in lounge is terrible quality and lacking of supply. Only with the notification from the guest, the lounge provide cakes. Indeed I do not have any desire to eat the poor food there.

房间狭小,异味!这是行政楼层啊!
The room condition is old, poor maintained and smelling. What a executive room!

但是这样的服务和账单上的费用好不匹配!
This sort of service is not a right match of the bill!!

之后行政酒廊管理人员就我的反馈做了一些调整,表现很专业。但相信客户的反馈才是帮助你们进步的有效方式。

Appreciate the lounge manager took the voice of customer, hence made some improvement immediately. This demonstrates the professionalism of her(Julia? I cannot remember her name). The best way to improves is listening VoC.

人民广场附近酒店可以价高,但这不能是质次理由。行政楼层加几百块住W不香吗?
I am Ok to pay more to stay around Peoples Square but I do not want to pay more for poor quality stay in such a executive floor. Why not chose W nearby with just hundreds more RMB?

强烈不推荐入住这家JW万豪。

Will never stay this JW Marriott again!

This time around, we only had one night at the JW Tomorrow Square but as usual the hotel and service were great! We had dinner at the California Grill, good food at reasonable prices but it was rather empty when we went there. We also used the executive lounge and the team up there was great, they really took care of us during that overnight. Great location, right next to the buzz of the city, all in walking distance.

Most likely they would have decent gym equipment in a JW Marriott. I would call front desk or guest services to confirm.

The hotel can arrange a car, but it will be much more expensive than just getting a taxi at the airport. At the luggage carousel they had posted what the expected cab fare should be to various destinations in Shanghai, so you can know how much it's right to pay. Make sure you get in an official cab from the taxi line outside baggage claim. We had no trouble doing this at all. Make sure you have the address printed in Chinese. The taxi drivers do not speak or read English.

Just follow the sign taxi to walk to airport taxi station, it is just outside of the airport building. The taxi fee is very reasonable. But maybe you need wait a little while based on whether is is peak time or not. Overall it is very safe. You can also call hotel to pick you up, it is the most easy way, but maybe you need pay US$100 instead of less than $30 for taxi. To get RMB in airport ATM, which is easiest way and the best rate to get Chinese money.
