Indigo Jingan is a brand new boutique hotel opened few months ago. It's a beautiful hotel with hundreds of 'movie elements' everywhere. I visited this hotel several times in the past few months. It's one of my most favorite hotel in Shanghai. It's not a big hotel. It's really small with only 119 rooms and 3 outlets. But the lobby lounge is huge with full of movie elements and also an All Day Dining (ADD) Restaurant name Ecco. Recently, I was in the Ecco for lunch. I had a burger and French fries with couple of Coca Cola. Good Lunch. Good service from Jimmy Lee, Restaurant manager of Ecco.

There is also a rooftop bar and a restaurant on the top floor name 500 Restaurant. I had dinner there once, few months ago and visited 2/3 times after that, for a quick drink. I love the beautiful Shanghai skyline view from this restaurant and also from the room. Quiet and peaceful environment. Really good for privacy.

Recently, I was also in the gym. It's good and big enough for a good workout with a nice swimming pool and clean locker room. It was a good surprise, especially the library room next door which is beautiful but always empty. Possibly, it will be packed in the near future.

Hotel Indigo, Jingan building used to be part of Intercontinental Jingan but the property owner BM Holding decided to rebrand it with a different name. Same location, same property owner but two different hotel brand next to each other. A good business strategy to attract more guests. BM Holding also owns St. Regis Shanghai, Pudong Four Seasons in Lujiazui and Sheraton Waigaochao in Pudong.

22nd Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) opens tomorrow in Shanghai. This hotel is located very close to Shanghai Film Center (SFC) and Shanghai Exhibition Center. Actually, it's located in the middle of both venues (Metro Line 1/12/13, Hanzhong Rd station). By metro it takes 15/20 minutes to come back to the hotel from both venues. I think, this is the best hotel to stay during the SIFF because of location and also the environment, which is full of movie elements.

The theme of Indigo Hotel Jingan is 'Movies.'

Check-in was swift, check-out was equally good, all staffs we met had been very nice. The room are new and big, I like the layout. Bed and pillow given me a good night sleep.

I have had stayed in two other Indigo hotels and enjoyed their member breakfast (special menu in additional to the buffet). There is none here. I will say the breakfast selection has been rather limited during my stay.

I hate the internet speed, like snail. I believed they share the bandwidth with ICH next door. Luckily I had my roaming to save my day. No access pass the great firewall as well.

I like to come back, next time, I pray for a better internet and an even better breakfast.

Stayed here for a night and was quite happy with my room and how comfortable it was. Since it is a brand new location, some taxi drivers don’t know exactly where it is. It used to be part of the Intercontinental building that’s attached to it.
During my stay here, the gym wasn’t ready yet. Hopefully that’s something that will get sorted quickly.
Probably will not stay here again. Would choose to stay at the Intercontinental next door instead.

Nice rooms. Great breakfast Pool closed. Roof top restaurant closed.

Location is a modern part of shanghai with shopping centers . Better for business than tourism.

Most Front desk Staff doesn't speak English . But easy to get by with and translator App.

Businesses across Shanghai have been hit by the sudden Covid surge. We stayed at another IHG hotel in Shanghai and they were under staffed but making it work. Hotel Indigo seems to have been hit much harder as there are hardly any staff. A real ghost hotel. They would be better off closing down for a few days.

I honestly don’t get the high rating of this hotel. Perhaps as a former Shanghai resident I’m a bit picky....but part of Indigo as a global brand is about local culture, neighborhoods, etc....and while quite close to the city center, this newly redeveloped area in the former Zhabei / now merged with Jing’an is about as un-atmospheric as you can get.

If you have business in this area (and a number of offices around), or are going to Shanghai train station, I guess objectively this hotel is quite good. It’s new, the fixtures and build out of the rooms seem quite good (we were upgraded to a room that had to be 400+ sq ft with a large bathtub). My only slight complaints would be why a new hotel would be built with USB/outlets on only one side of the bed...and the bed itself was a bit on the harder side compared to other Western chains in China. But I’ve also stayed at the Courtyard Central just done the street - also a good bargain (if a bit older).

But as a tourist - no, don’t. Shanghai is a wonderful city with great history and neighborhoods. Sure there are plenty of new places surrounding the center that lack atmosphere....it’s just this area brings that feeling to the city center. And for a brand about local culture, sure, they had some nice Shanghai books in the room....but I really didn’t get all the pictures of old-school Western actresses everywhere (if we wanted that era, couldn’t we go old Shanghai?). Maybe as a Chinese tourist it has a certain exotic feel...:

I’ll be the first to admit this review probably sounds petty. But get closer to the action in “old” Jingan or Huangpu if you can as a tourist - even look beyond the western brands to well rated hotels. Shanghai’s old concessions are truly wonderful neighborhoods with great walkable streets and culture. Go there instead of this place and it’s empty mall with a Starbucks - feel Shanghai.

The hotel’s really nice with a big room and a lovely bathtub faving the city which i liked very much. I went there to celebrate my birthday and I actually told them it was my birthday but nothing special has been arranged which was quite disappointing. Overall the staffs were friendly but lack of product knowledge and service sequences. Ordered a glass of red wine and was oxidised, the other night we ordered warm milk, and the container was from intercontinental, not sure if they grab the milk from intercontinental. 15 minutes from the subway station, hard to grab a taxi in the morning. Not a bad experience but will not go back if i visit next time.

Full of the smell of decoration everywhere, the painful persistence of a night's sleep, wake up in the morning sore throat.
There are unfinished construction sites everywhere, and I don't know why it's still open, and it's so expensive, it's unbelievable.

到处弥漫着装修的味道,痛苦的坚持了一夜的睡眠,早上醒来喉咙痛。
到处都是未完工的建筑工地,我不知道为什么它还开着,而且太贵了,简直难以置信。

This property is a part of the Intercon Chain. Is connected to Intercon Hotel. Themed on the timeless Hollywood ladies this hotel is yet to be discovered. Has some well appointed rooms. Staff does try hard to look after you.
Language is still an issue with not many staff able to understand English. Breakfast is not very vegetarian friendly though the staff does look after you well and the chef does spring some very tasty surprise if you tell them in advance.
