I have stayed twice at this property, once in October and once in January.

The service was excellent - I had a in room check in accompanied by Miss Serena Su, who very kindly offered to show me around the hotel afterwards. I would not have easily got around the property without her introduction.

The hotel has 9 bars + 3 restaurants(as I remembered). My favourite was the canton disco, where the Polish chef served modern Chinese cuisine. The concept of Edition Club was also interesting, it even has a private cinema inside(complimentary viewing, so long you order a drink from the bar).

The room itself is also of a very high standard. I particularly liked the high ceiling it had, making the room feel extra spacious inside. The panoramic view of the bund, and le labo amenities + bottled Evian water also stepped up the game for sure.

Overall, it is a very stylish hotel and I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent there.

The Shanghai EDITION is an amazing property in the heart of the Bund. From the moment you enter the hotel leaving the busy streets of Shanghai behind, you feel like you've arrived into an oasis. The hotel mixes an Asian feel along with modern minimalist architecture and decoration.

Following EDITION's brand philosophy, rooms were simple yet elegant. Bathrooms were big and luxuriously appointed with Le Labo amenities. All restaurants, including the rooftop, were spectacular and beautiful. The lobby lounge was also a great sport to have morning coffee.

Service was consistently good although not outstanding. All staff was courteous but nothing to write home about. Overall, the EDITION is a great property to stay at while in Shanghai.

Had a great experience at The Shanghai EDITION. The location is very convenient and their service is wonderful, detailed and personal. It’s difficult for hotels during a pandemic, but this property did their best to let guests check in quickly and feel comfortable. Yvonne, Frank, and Chris at the front desk management team are friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Highly recommend and will definitely return. Also recommend to check out their rooftop with a view.
EDITION has become one of my favorite Marriott offerings now as I experienced similarly great service in another location.

A rather frustrating stay which started a few blocks down the street when we were dropped by the cab as you cant even reach the hotel due to a massive construction on the road side. Had to drag my 2 suitcases through the rain over a 50 metres before entering the lobby. Lobby smells fancy but felt cold as too many doormen or security guarding the corners without even acknowledging you. Several outlets only operate on certain days and tables or blocked off to create an atmospehre. My concerns... Hiya was very pricey for a less special menu and small portions. Where rejected at Punsh as no seat available, went therefore to the rooftop where drinks start from a 100 yuan and there was not even music. Following day we wanted to check out the spa but were told we have to go to the neighboring hotel as it was shut since a couple of month. Rooms are not soundproof and you can hear the pedestrian all day and night. Service was ok but not impressive. Too many defects which hinders you from enjoying a staycation, too bad :(

I visited The Shangai edition for just one night on my way back to US in a bussiness trip. This was in march meaning Covid test needed for enter the US. PLEASE take in consideration that even a simple antigen test can take 6-9 hours to come back negative.
Talking about the hotel is has a very cool vibe with a delight smell thru the hotel. Room was minimalist but elegant. Location can be beat, right in the middle of action in nainjing rd. next to metro station. Staying with amex FHR and all benefits was offered, breakfast, food credit, late check out and upgrade. The part that this hotel difference with other luxury hotel i stayed before is the service. From the moment i arrive and advice them i need a Covid test, they start to work calling clinics and make sure this was done. Every employee that i deal with it was informed about my situation. They make the appointment, they call the taxi pay for test(i refund the money later) and find my phone that was lost on a cab on my way to the test. Just want to say thanks to all that wonderfull people that work on The Shangai Edition in special to Terry. Terry you are an angel!

That's the worst experience I have ever had with the Marriott hotel group.

Pls don't expect to enjoy any Bonvoy membership benefits in this hotel. They will just treat you as the regular customer or even worse. There is no lounge, no upgrade and not even no breakfast provided for Titanium members.

From a hardware perspective, the hotel is located in a pedestrian zone, which means that if you get off from the taxi, you still need a few mins to reach the hotel. This can be a problem during the rainy season. The bed is of the worst quality, it's not motion-absorbing type at all, you will notice even the slightest movement of the person sleeping next to you. The walls are as thin as a piece of paper, and you can hear clearly if your neighbor closes the door, if you are a light sleeper, you cannot sleep at all. The wifi signal is very week in the room, I have to use my own mobile signal to connect my laptop.

From a software perspective, I really couldn't feel that it's a high end type of the Marriott group. I chose this hotel to celebrate my 50th birthday, and obviously, this decision was so wrong!!! My husband called the hotel a week earlier to arrange flower delivery to the room; he asked for a surprise delivery but ended up he had to call the reception to remind them to send it up to my room. I had a similar experience. It was the first hotel where I ordered the foam pillows beforehand via the Marriott app, but they were forgotten. When I requested them again, it took a very long time to get to my room. The service lady told me that she's the only person working night shift and hence took that long! I can imagine this may be related to budget cuts and as a result, from the front desk receptionist to the room service crew, they all looked tired and without any energy. They are just too busy. They always ignore your message, even if you share the same message with them multiple times. In the end, Chris, the assistant front office manager, tried to apologize when I checked out and handed over his business card. He said that I can approach him directly if I come again. But who would come again to this hotel with such a poor software and hardware?!!!

Dear guest, Thank you for taking your precious time to share your feedback. First and foremost, please accept our sincere apologies for the experience you encountered during your stay. I deeply apologize for the frustrations and I completely empathize with you on all counts. A lot of lessons to be learned and I have already shared the circumstances with my team to ensure that we connect better with our guest when things do go wrong. There is definitely no excuses for our short comings, with this being said, our procedures are under review to ensure the same does not happen again. I’m embarrassed that my team was not able to turn around the situation. Internal counselling and trainings have been reinforced to ensure all our associates are thinking from our customers’ perspective and promptly follow up on guest requests. My sincere apologies again for the service lapses and I do hope you can give us another chance to show you our hospitality. I thank you for your understanding, your support and your continued patronage of Marriott. Please accept my apologies once again and do let me know if I can be of any assistance in the future. Sincerely! Taylor Tang Front Office Manager

We stayed at edition shanghai on 3 Oct which is a happy national festival. However, Room 1109 is a connected room in which we can hear everything from next room. Laughter, children crying, adults talkin. It suddenly starts to rain in the night and the rooftop is no longer open. We have to move to downstairs. But the waiter downstairs show disrespect and contempt as if we don't pay??? Also, the empty seat is not allowed, said by the waiter. It is so expensive, but we have a rough stay. Never want to stay again. After rating this hotel, GSM replied poorly. He does not confront the problems and thinks it is just an upgrade problem.

My recent stay at Edition Shanghai was nothing short of amazing. Ideally located, this hotel is a stone's throw from the scenic Bund and rests on the bustling Nanjing Road, making it a gateway to the city's myriad of attractions.

Much like its global siblings, Edition Shanghai merges contemporary design with warm wooden accents, creating an atmosphere that's both stylish and comforting - a tranquil retreat within the energetic cityscape.

However, what truly makes this hotel exceptional is the unparalleled service, and a standout in this regard is Karen. Her professionalism, keen attention to detail, and sincere commitment to guest satisfaction elevated my stay from pleasing to extraordinary.

One of the highlights was undeniably the breakfast, which was easily among the best I've ever enjoyed. With impeccable service and a generous selection of excellent culinary options, it's also carries a Michelin star.

Edition Shanghai delivers an unrivaled combination of location, aesthetic appeal, and superior service. A special shout-out to Karen for her outstanding efforts that made my stay truly memorable.

I stayed with my mother on February 29th.
The location of this hotel was very nice for tourists, and when I checked in, the staff who was fluent in English responded well, so I checked in comfortably. I also enjoyed the small talk I had with the staff who came to guide me to the room when I just entered the room. The room was cleaned perfectly, and the bedding and sofa were so good that I could stay comfortable. I stayed in a suite with a terrace, and the view from that room was fantastic and more ecstatic than the view anywhere else I've seen while traveling the world. I really liked the way the breakfast was operated (semi buffet and the menu), and the local food recommended by the breakfast staff was also a good experience.
Above all, what touched me the most about this hotel is the contents below.
I needed a taxi to move to the next hotel after checking out. However, due to Alipay problems, I was not able to use any form of transportation, including a taxi. This was the first time when I was traveling and I was very embarrassed because I had no cash. For me like that, Mr. Benjamin at the concierge was very kind and helped me in detail. Also, he was fluent in English. He tried many things for me. But in the end, I needed time to solve my problem and I still couldn't use a taxi. For me like that, he provided a taxi himself. And he sent me an e-mail wishing me luck with my trip, along with that my problem will be solved soon. As everyone knows, there are many good hotels in Shanghai. Among those hotels, the Edition Hotel offers not only hardware but also perfect software filled with good staff like Mr. Benjamin. I will definitely visit this hotel again.

I must admit Edition Hotel is on my one of the top lists Hotel must visit in Shanghai. Perfect for any special occasions such as staycation, drinking at their bars, even having afternoon tea at their Roof.

The hotel itself is super stylish and has really nice fancy smell. Staff are friendly and helpful. Location is easy to access and the view from the room, restaurant and bars are just absolutely stunning and breathtaking!

Overall, I would say what you pay is totally worth the money.
