The St. Regis Shanghai Jingan is celebrated for its luxurious and spacious rooms offering breathtaking views, with the hotel's cleanliness also receiving high marks from numerous travelers. While the service is generally recognized for its professionalism and warmth, a few guests have noted occasional inefficiencies and language barriers. The hotel's atmosphere exudes sophistication, with festive decor and thoughtful touches like cake and champagne. Its prime location is a boon for those eager to explore Shanghai's shopping and dining scenes. Amenities, including the Manor Club, are lauded, although there is some confusion regarding benefits. Opinions on value vary, with some concerns over billing and unmet expectations for perks.

I really enjoyed my stay at St. Regis during my visit in Shanghai. In fact, it offers almost everything I needed : excellent location, great lounge access, spacious lobby, great service, modern and spacious gym, awesome brunch, and friendly staff!

I stayed at st Regis Shanghai twice : one in May and one in November, both at the one bedroom suite. It was classy and comfortable. The room is always Spotlessly clean, bright, and the bathroom has very functional layout.

I wanted to point out during one of my nights here, a guest next door smoked heavily and ruined my sleep entirely. The smoke coming out of the other room made the hallway And my room extremely very smoky. I later found out it is difficult for hotel to stop a guest from smoking at a non smoking facility. I believe the hotel should charge a hefty fine to those
who don’ care about the health or others.

The lobby manager Dan helped me right away next day and offered us free brunch to make our stay more enjoyable. The selection of the brunch was fantastic: from seafood to chinese traditional food, everything you could think of is here.

From the moment you arrive you appreciate the quality of the staff. The front desk staff, especially Thomas, displayed an exceptional drive to make you feel welcome. One of the Managers, Mr Douglas even remembered our family's names from a previous visit. Eric in the bar on the ground floor was very efficient and remembered our drink order when ever we visited the bar. The rooms are very well equipped and the Spa one of the best I have seen. They were short of masseurs as it was difficult to get a last minute booking. The breakfast is quite extensive and caters for both western and Chinese tastes. The one complaint is that the Bread Toaster needs to be replaced and we did mention it on a previous visit but it had not been changed. Definitely the hotel to stay at in Shanghai.

As a Marriott Bonvoy Lifetime Titanium Member who also has the highest elite status with Hilton Honor and The World of Hyatt, I have to say that The St. Regis Shanghai Jingan represents the best of what top luxury hotels can offer. Not only the hotel facility and ameneties are top of the lines in terms of luxury, the General Manager - Steward, the Director of Guest Services - Andreas and the Restaurant Manager - Ying, are all exceptionally personable and attentative, and accessible all the time. During this difficult time in China when many public services have been shut down due to the coronavirus, I couldn't ask for a better place to be in Shanghai. If you are searching for the best luxurious hotel accomodations in Shanghai, look no further.

Posh building, pool, and room decorations, but the service was not so good.

The check-in and check-out process was slow. It took us over 30 mins just to check-in, even when it's not busy. We booked two rooms under two separate Titanium members. One got upgraded to Carolina Astor with SNA, another to Premier Corner w/o SNA. However, the Carolina Astor didn't come with a club access despite listing the benefits as part of the room name and description when we use SNA. The front desk didn't walk us through the benefits either, so things were rather confusing. Also, when I asked him any questions in English, he would reply to my Chinese gf in Mandarin 🤷

The spa reception lady was very nice, and the housekeeping was neatly done. However, some staff were not friendly or welcoming unlike other St Regis hotels we have been to. You will hardly see anyone cracking a smile, but at least they mostly get the job done. We recently stayed at Mexico City and Bangkok, where the service was world apart despite inferior hard products. Many staff didn't speak English, but I don't find much issue with that, as there are always English speakers one around.

Lastly, we have an issue where they try to bill us breakfast for one person every morning, despite us having breakfast benefits for all 4 guests already. No one cares to fix it, and kept blaming each other, until we finally sorted it out during checkout.

Second stay at the St. Regis. The rooms are really nice and recently updated. The views are spectacular.
The doorman who greets guests is fantastic - he really makes you feel welcomed!
Avoid the four rooms right off the elevator. The soundproofing is such that you can hear the elevator tracks run by.
My biggest issue is that the hotel seems extremely understaffed and everything took forever. I arrived at around 3 pm was offered a checkin time at close to 5 pm (!). I decided to downgrade a category in order to get into a room sooner. (I have been to hotels that offer an upgrade if they cannot fulfill a commitment to a stated checkin time - this really makes a guest feel less peeved after a long trip - St. Regis please take notes!). Unfortunately this was near an elevator (see above on noise), and then it took another 1.5 hours for a room change. The hotel said that the wait times were because a large group checked in, but I think this is a poor excuse for compromised service at a luxury hotel.
Overall this hotel is in a good location. The rooms are gorgeous and if you get the right room during a lighter period I can see how it can be a fantastic experience. But if I ever stay again I would definitely check if it’s experiencing high occupancy, and I would probably not stay here during high season. Besides one very charismatic doorman, the service was quite cold, rushed and unremarkable.

The St Regis Jingan have polished room with great location. However the service is highly unprofessional: the room service boy knocked my door at midnight 1am, ask me to pay a bill immediately with very rude attitude (actually my room price is including food &beverage credit). Feel sorry for the management team.

I just looked at my review from 2019. The lobby is still breathtaking, the rooms are still luxurious and beautiful, .... We stayed again for 4 nights for a holiday and had a brilliant time at the St. Regis. We got upgraded to a Bund view room and one wakes up to a "million dollar" view. One night my wife and I were just sitting in front of the window, enjoying the Shanghai skyline. One night we spent with our friends at the bar, very good drinks, excellent live music and a bar manager which knows how to treat his guests. I have to especially thank all the associates for their kindness and for being so supportive at all times. From the check in, to the breakfast service, to the director of rooms and even the GM, everyone is there to make the stay at the St. Regis a very memorable one. Thank you all for making our stay so special.

St Regis didn't fail to disappoint, and the location was near taikoo hui with the metro about 7 mins walk away. The room was upgraded and I'm not very sure what room is it called, but had a great view of the orient pearl tower at the bathroom.
Breakfast at the St Regis was superb, huge international selection and made it a hearty meal.
Swimming pool was at the basement and its an indoor pool which does great during autumn and winter days.
Hotel staffs were nice and polite

The cheapest way is always by bus. Since you have large cases, I think taxi will be a good alternative . Taking taxi is convenient. Make sure you have the name of the hotel and address .
