For my first time visiting Shanghai, I took one of the nicer rooms based on its location in the city centre and was generally very satisfied. The hotel was easy to check in and out of, the wifi worked brilliantly and the service was non-intrusive. The only issue I had was the room not being fully soundproof from the busy street outside, other than that, I'd recommend it highly.

Spent 2 nights at this property and my review as follows:

1) Location: Very central. 5 minutes walk to Nanjing Pedestrian Shopping Street, 5 minutes walk to Raffles City Shopping Mall, 20 minutes walk to The Bund river side, 20 minutes walk to Yuyuan Garden and 10 minutes walk to Renmin People Square. There is MCD and KFC opposite and beside the hotel. Minimarket is around 3 minutes walk from the hotel. Hotel is located on the main road of Fuzhou Road leading to People Square. Overall, central location in the heart of Shanghai.

2) Check in and lobby: Check in was fast. Hotel lobby look decent. There are elevators to the room.

3) Standard Room: Room is clean and not too tiny. Yes, the room without windows have damp marks on the ceilings and walls. While rooms with windows seems to be much better (maybe due to the air circulation). Rooms are clean and acceptable for 2 star hotel property. No smoke smell. Bathroom is clean with consistent hot water. There is tv and strong wifi signals within the hotel premise. Overall, not bad for the cheap room rates.

4) Hotel Staff and Facilities: There are staffs who can communicate in simple english. Very good considering this is a budget hotel. Also, they have a very secure luggage storing room.

Overall, for those arriving midnight/ for short stay/under budget - this hotel is a good choice. Definitely a 2 star hotel in central shanghai.

Cheap , basic and a little strange but if you are only staying for a few days it would do. Rooms have windows but these open onto the main corridors so keep curtains closed. Cleaners are very loud early in the morning and come in even when do not disturb sign is hanging! Mainly local tourists but there are two small convenience stores nearby selling basics. Near to People's Square, pedestrians Street and Bund within walking distance.rooms have kettle and cups. Hairdryer and wi fi were surprisingly good. TV all Chinese but one English speaking news channel. It s OK but not great but you get what you pay for!

had arranged to stay here 3 nights at full rate of 698Y but checked out after first night - the place is dirty, the beds really damp and the laundry service returned items more stained than when they had been collected. Moved a few blocks toward to Bund to another budget business hotel at a much better rate - it was clean, modern, had helpful staff and included a breakfast.

I am a American traveling in China and took my family on vacation to Shanghai. It is hard finding an affordable hotel in the Bund area for a family, this hotel had a decent deal compared to the others nearby. In hindsight I should have paid an extra $25 a night and got a solid brand hotel. The room was falling apart and barely fit the three beds in the room. Huge mold spot on the wall and the ceiling had water damage on a spot and looks like one day parts of it will come down. The house cleaning was good and prompt when we needed something, the front desk was just ok. Would not recommend this hotel to any families.

I spent two nights here, and the location was great. However, the service andd quality were just terrible. First, I was given a room with two single beds even though I had booked a king. They did change me to a room with a double bed after I asked. However, my room was still deficient in several ways. First, the heater didn't work, so it was freezing in there. Second, there was all sorts of black mold in the bathroom. Third, the bathroom sink leak so that you would end up with tooth paste all over the floor when you brushed your teeth! Fourth, when I asked to be moved after discovering the sink, the receptionists refused and were quite rude about it. Perhaps they think that each guest only deserves one room change. When I asked if they could send maintenance up to fix the sink, they refused and literally dismissed me, walking away. The guy I had talked to earlier then claimed he spoke no English. Fifth, the room key rarely worked, necessitating a trip down to reception each time I was locked out. And sixth, there is no wifi in the rooms regardless of what they claim. The signal simply isn't strong enough.

Would I stay here again? Uhhhhh, maybe if I was desperate. The location and price were very good, but I would spend some time looking for other options. I would NOT recommend this to a friend without telling them all the details. The bathroom was really gross, and the service was disgraceful.

The room is small and super basic as expected due to the cheap price. Though the room was not completely clean and ceiling or wallpapers are slowly crashing down.. You can feel the spirals while sleeping on the bed. Location is very good to access by foot The Bund, Nanjing Road and the People's square metro station. Staff speaks ONLY chinese.

This hotel is at a distance of almost 12-15 minutes walk from People's square Metro station and its better to Exit from EXIT 11. The hotel room I stayed was delux double and it was very nice, big and clean. The room service was adequate the cleaner cleaned the room everyday after we left and washroom was also clean. Though the hotel management didnt provide water bottles as mentioned in hotels.com but overall the service was good.
Another big benefit of staying in this hotel is that just at 2 mins distance across the road there is a Muslim food shop, a small restaurant which is a great thing to find halal food. Other places close of this hotel are McDonald, starbucks coffee etc.
The internet service was appropriate, TV has no international channel except one english channel which was also local.
There was no bug or smell inside the room or washroom, so it was pretty comfortable and beddings were clean as well.

If you're backpacking then you'll be used to places like this in big cities - flaky paint, damp patches on the walls, no window in the room. All a bit depressing really. On the plus side you can use the hotel business card in the power switch rather than your key card and keep the AC running while you're out so your washing will eventually dry...

What really sucked though was being woken by the screeching of the maid's walkie-talkie every morning at 6.30am as she paced up and down the hallway. It seems they keep hyenas down at reception and give them access to the comms system.

There wasnt always an english speaker at the desk, but they were never the less friendly and service minded. The room was small, with no windows, but had wifi, aircon and a nice bathroom. The location of the hotel was pretty good, with walking distance to Nanjing rd and peoples square. The only annoyance was the cleaning staff, who performed a lacking cleaning and were pretty loud in the morning.
