Hotels clean and neat, just like any typical Hampton Inn. everyone was being careful about the virus, yet being polite to each other. Breakfast is served to you rather than all piling up on a buffet line. Each day it was a different breakfast, and I was there for five days. I highly recommend this location.
We have stayed at the Hampton Inn in Jasper several times over the last two years and it has always been great. This time was a bit different. We checked in Friday evening and the first thing we see is a clipboard on the desk with a warning to the maids that they are not allowed to take their phones onto the floors when they are cleaning. This should have been a hint that housekeeping was having some issues. Check in was fast, but the clerk had her AirPods in her ears the entire time and I could see her phone lighting up on the desk next to her. There was no luggage cart at the front and when we asked, we were told there weren’t any available. As we carried our bags in, there was a cart right by the elevators, unnoticed by anyone who worked there. We were asked if we wanted our room cleaned every day and we told them every other day was fine, so that would have meant that it should have been cleaned Sunday. We were gone all day on Sunday and when we got back to the room, nothing had been touched. No new towels, no made beds, nothing. We went to the desk to get towels and the clerk was sure the room had been cleaned, she showed us where it was marked off on the sheet by housekeeping as having been cleaned. So to me, this means the maids are pencil whipping their room lists and not even entering some of the rooms much less cleaning them. The elevator was dirty and on check out day, there was a full size dolly left in the way of getting our luggage in the elevator. Several times when we went through the lobby the staff member was sitting in the breakfast area on a laptop with no mask, even though there were signs everywhere saying that masks were mandatory. When trying to check out, the desk clerk was in a separate room behind the desk watching a movie on her laptop, loud enough that we could hear it in the lobby. Tddhe bright spot of the trip was the wonderful lady doing breakfast. They had very good hot food and waffles, being individually served by a staff member. She was always happy, alway on task, and a joy to deal with. It seems like there are some serious staffing issues going on at this hotel, and people are starting to notice. In the middle of a pandemic is not the time you want maids pretending to clean rooms and staff not following the same safety protocols that the guest are required to.…
Ok, not great. Stayed one night during Covid Pandemic, while staying at other hotels on a cross country road trip. The room was mostly clean, but not up to par with other Hamptons we've recently stayed in who have more fully embraced the new Covid Lysol cleanliness campaign. Found hairs that were not ours on two of six towels. Other hotels have frequently cleaned elevators, this one had finger smudges all over it. Also, while previous reviews have been positive about the staff, we found the one person we interacted with less than excited about her role. I can't imagine it's fun to staff a hotel desk right now, but when we arrived it seemed we took her away from her laptop and cell phone in the food area, and it required extra effort for her to check us in. When we departed, we called down to check out, 10 rings, no answer. When we then went downstairs, we found nobody behind the desk and the same desk clerk sitting out front of the hotel in the smoking area. We stayed at the Hampton Inn Oxford Anniston going E, had we known what we know now about the Jasper one, we likely would have stayed there again going W.…
Nice property with friendly staff. Price was a little high but the location was safe and clean. We chose Jasper because it was less expensive than Birmingham and we were hauling items attached to the rear of our vehicle that we didn’t want to have to unload and they were safe.
This was one of our best hotel stay driving down and back home from FL. Very clean, quiet rooms, and great breakfast even received a Happy Fuel bag at checkout. This sit off the highway but definitely worth the extra couple of miles.
