The Sun-n-Sand Hotel in Mumbai enjoys a beachfront location cherished by guests for its proximity to the airport and historical landmarks, despite the beach itself being non-swimmable. While cleanliness is generally praised, with well-maintained rooms and efficient room service, some areas have been flagged for needing enhancement. The service receives mixed feedback; some guests commend the warm staff, but others have experienced slow service.
Room quality varies, with reports of upgrades and views alongside maintenance issues. Although the ambiance is noted to be pleasant, the value proposition is questioned by many, who feel the pricing is steep.

We have booked 3 rooms in this current trip. 2 rooms are for 3 nights and third room is for 12 nights. Here is my review for the Day 1 (mostly on check-in process):
Ratings are based on range of 1 to 5 stars.
Overall ratings for check-in process: 5 star
Details: Very smooth and prompt. Very courteous Staff at desk, particularly Nishad, willing to accommodate all your requests. In fact 1 of our rooms was upgraded to higher category because our original room had 2 twin beds and not a queen/king bed.
The room allotted to my older sister had a bathroom with a tub and she expressed her interest for a room with walk-in shower.for easier access. Within few minutes she was allotted a different room and staff helped her moving her luggage.
All our 3 rooms are good size and well maintained. Lobby is relatively small but very well decorated with nice wall pieces and fresh flowers. Furniture in room is still classic but mattresses are quite firm with good qualty beddings. Clean bathroom with good hot water shower with good water force.
Will continue with the review for day 2 (today) at the end of the day

Being a Mumbaikar, Sun n Sand is a place I always know of and have seen while.strolling on beach but it was first time I decided to do a staycation with a friend and my child..
The stay, the room, the prompt housekeeping service and the mind blowing spread of buffet during dinner and breakfast just made our stay special. They say if the child enjoys we can be at peace...my chile loved the food and the stay and we too just enjoyed.
Thanks to the amazing staff.
The only feedback I want to give is on the case iron table. It does hurt kids..it's sharp at the edges and the bottom rim. I suggest replace it with wooden tables or foldable tables in rooms where there are kids. or cover the edges with soft cushion or so. We just moved the table to a corner moment my kid got hurt. Else no other complaints. Too well maintained rooms and infra.
I would also request please check your phone numbers that appears on Google. When I tried calling those.numbers,.no one picked and then the number I got on MMT after booking was different. Please ensure your numbers are updated so we can just call easily for enquiries.
Overall a happy stay and I plan to surely visit with my husband and kid , then mom n kid..just worth it!!

I have been visiting Sun-N-Sand since the past 25 years mainly for dining. However this time around, i chose to stay at the hotel due to house shifting for 2 nights. Unfortunately, never imagined that the hotel service or in room / reception would not be at par with what it has been in the restaurants. I visited along with my 90 year old grandmother. Firstly, i would like to mention that they did oblige me by issuing a 'wheelchair accessible room' which i had already requested for and in reality it is not supposed to be a suite or any higher level of category however, they have termed the same as a junior suite. In comparison to the rates and structure of the actual junior suite, the wheel chair accessible room is no where even 10% similar. Further, wheelchair accessible room does not even have enough space for walker or wheelchair to be pushed besides the bed neither the bathroom has separators between shower and toilet area. There are ample chances of a senior citizen falling in the bathroom due to wet floor. Hence, on what grounds it has been termed and rated so is best known to the authorities. Naturally i cannot take my grandmother downstairs for every meal. As a result, i asked for a favour to provide food i order from the restaurants to my room. On that basis, they have charged in room dining service charges despite requesting and taking permission in advance.

I have stayed in this hotel many times I’ve the last 20 years and have tried to avoid it as much as possible. Last night reconfirmed this for me.
It is an old decrepit hotel which charges room rates like a much better quality hotel. There are much better hotels around for the same or similar price.
The hotel has looked the same for eh last 20 years. Everything looks and is tired and worn out.
It’s location is theoretically good because it is on Juhi beach which looks OK if you don’t get too close.
But in practice it is in a traffic black hole - getting in and out have always been terrible. You need to add much more time to get in and out.
They often host parties and events on the terrace by the beach - this means the hotel is noisy up to around and sometimes we’ll after midnight.
The breakfast, for a hotel which charges so much, is really poor, very little choice. The serving team seems to be too small, for the simplest things it takes a long time to find a server and then to get what you ordered.
In the room I had last night, the bed sheets and bedding were clearly very well used and they didn’t provide hand towels or a bath mat, only bath towels.
Thais internet connection is very slow and only allows 2 devices to be connected.
The item that really annoyed me this time was that they didn’t provide drinking water and charged me for the bottled water !
My recommendation - stay somewhere else !

We were offered two rooms before accepting a third. The property bedrooms and breakfasting area need a complete refurbishment. Plus the cleaning staff need to be trained and given the correct cleaning materials to deal with mould in the bathrooms and the cleaning of carpets. Plus, it is most unfortunate to open the bedroom door and constantly see a cleaning cart just outside the bedroom.

Shifted to Sun n Sand after a bad stay at another hotel and once we got here, we were kicking ourselves for not booking here in the first place. The rooms are elegant, and immaculate. None of that glass bathroom wall rubbish. Bathroom doors you can lock, classy yet understated insides to make your stay fulfilling. Seriously, old school grace and, dare I say it, luxury.
Room service is prompt and the food is fantastic. The views from the sea facing rooms, the view and experience at each of their dining options kept the holiday vibe alive throughout our stay.
A special mention, adding to the pleasurable stay was our experience with the very attentive and pleasant Mr. Samir Vaidya. With the pandemic and the fast life, we seem to have forgotten what pleasant service and experiences at good places feel like. We’d like to personally thank him for a great stay.

As part of an extended honeymoon trip in India, my wife and I decided to spend a few nights in Juhu beach, as its proximity to the airport and abundance of upmarket hotels marked it as perfect place to acclimatise after a long haul flight from the UK and the general pandemonium of Christmas and the New Year.
I emailed ahead of our arrival to ask if we could stay an extra night, as our plans changed after booking. I was told we could, but when we arrived we were told the hotel was fully booked. This was a minor inconvenience, however, our room wasn’t available when we arrived (1400) and so we were told to wait in reception, eventually we were offered an upgrade from Ryan, which I am very grateful for.
Unfortunately, when we returned to our room after dinner, we found that we were locked out. The lock mechanism had jammed, and after an hour of housekeeping trying to force the lock, we were told we had to sleep in another room.
We decamped to another room where we spent the night without our toiletries, pyjamas, the over the counter painkillers I was taking and most notably without anything remotely resembling an apology from the manager (house keeping on the other hand were very apologetic). What should of been an exciting and rejuvenating first night was frankly awful.
When we checked out, I told the reception staff that I was unhappy paying for the first night given the circumstances (I really dislike having to complain, but on principle I felt uncomfortable paying the full price), after a half an hour wait we were begrudgingly offered 25% off the first night and still no apology.
It’s not about the money, or % off the bill. It’s about quality of service. You expect to leave a 5* hotel feeling well looked after, not resentful. If that had been an apology, I wouldn’t feel half as aggrieved. As it is, my overwhelming memory will be of uncomfortably pleading my case to a dispassionate middle manager at reception.
As we left, carrying our bags out through the lobby, we passed under a spotlight that proudly announced ‘60 Years of Hospitality’. Hopefully they weren’t all as bad as this.
Ultimately, the other reviews are accurate, there are some great members of staff who make you feel very welcome and the breakfast is cracking, however, the hotel is somewhere on the run down side of classic and the overall service is not what I’d expect from a hotel presenting itself at this level. Knowing what we know now, we would have stayed at the Novotel next door.
(Quick qualification: not my first time in India, certainly not my first time in a 5* hotel; although it is the first time I’ve ever complained to management about service).

The hotel has a lovely setting, right on Juhu Beach, facing west. The sunsets are a beautiful sight. Getting there to and from the airport was relatively easy. A 30 minute taxi ride from the airport at midnight and a 20 minute ride to the airport at 06:00.
Drinks and food are expensive for India. However food quality is excellent throughout the day. With regard to drinks unfortunately there was no draft beer available at all, and bottled beer was INR 700 for a small bottle. Wine was also very expensive.
Staff and service were excellent at all times and in all departments.
The pool is quite small for the size of hotel, but it was never busy. There was a disappointingly low number of pool loungers (10) provided, which were ‘reserved’ for the day early on. Shade availability at the pool was good. There is a lovely beachside bar, again with very good service, however please see below regarding parties.
Bedrooms were large, well equipped and very comfortable. Everything you needed was there, and peace and quite levels were excellent, even though my room was next to the lift and stairs. Plenty of bottled water was available and this was regularly replenished. Bathrooms again were excellent with a wide range of accessories and consumable items provided.
Security at the exterior of the hotel was first class. Inside the hotel access to the floors with rooms via lifts was protected by room key readers, but you could freely walk up the stairs! Safes were provided in rooms but mine wasn’t fixed down, so you could easily remove the whole safe were you minded to do so. I believe there was more secure safe storage available at the front desk, but I didn’t try to use it.
The hotel had a wedding or a party outside by the beach every night we were there. These are spectacular events but the novelty soon wears off, and the loud music slightly spoils the outside pool or beachside experience.
Overall very good.

I attended a birthday party on 4th January 2019 at Anchor Hall on the second floor of the Hotel. The hall is quiet small but sufficient for a gathering of around 20 persons. There is a pillar in between however it was Ok. The food was very delicious and very tasty. We were served both veg and non veg starters, they were very good and tasty. The buffet dinner that followed was also very tasty and fresh. The service was also too good. Highly recomended and looking forward for visiting again.

Sorry have no idea. But excellent Hotel with superb views and good staff. Please check with them.
Have stayed there a few times in last 3 years, never came across such an offer. May be it's there at the time of booking, not sure though. Most of the time I was there on weekends so may be they don't have happy hours during that time of the week.
