At the end of our four week trip we spent our last two nights in Mumbai. We were treated warmly at reception desk. Plenty of available staff to assist with luggage. The room appeared very small initially but not as small as hotels we have stayed in Paris. I believe it has to do with being old buildings. The bathroom was spacious, there was a closet with drawers and adequate space for hanging clothes. A desk made a great location to place our opened suitcases.
All staff members we interacted with with were helpful and pleasant. Coordinating taxi service was very easy. The hotel arranged a tour for us that was wonderful. We saw sights that we never would have found on our own and the guide was wonderfully informative. He was also exceedingly patient as we browsed through the Mahatma Gandhi museum. We love museums and really enjoy absorbing every detail. Also, taking the time to bring us back to a store to purchase some beautiful pashmina shawls. The tour was one of our trip highlights.
The breakfast was good, not overly extensive with options but certainly plentiful to satisfy a variety of diet preferences. Some items were made freshly on the griddle. The coffee was delicious as were the masala dosa.
There is a quiet lounge area separate from the lobby where tea and cookies are available in the afternoon for guests. We also relaxed there during the evening of our last night. We checked out at 7:00pm and spent a couple of hours reading and making notes in our travel journal enjoying tea, coffee, and cookies while being attended to by Pan. He is a delightful employee of the hotel with fabulous attention to customer service. The hotel arranged a taxi for us to get to the airport.
Mumbai was busy, lots of people and traffic. The hotel was quiet and restful once inside. The location is in a city of 20 million people, always something going on outside. We took a taxi to Marine Drive, enjoyed the sunset and then walked back to the hotel. Safe area with plenty to see and do.

The hotel was great, good location, excellent rooms (we were in the 40x wing, only 50m from the main entrance) and great service all around from the friendly and professional staff.
The hotel concierge Rajesh was fantastic, organising anything from a great SoBo tour, to refreshments and taxi rides.
And the breakfast host Peter (see picture) always made sure we had a great table at the breakfast.
The rooms were very modern and well equipped, with AC, fridge, complementary bottles water daily, TV and great beds full of pillows. We would definately come back here again.

We had such a lovely stay here. From the moment we arrived the staff couldnt have done more for us. It was our first time in mumbai and the staff informed us of restaurants to visit, places to visit. Rajesh was really helpful and kind and friendly he got us a tour of the city with a guide who spoke really good english named sunil for cheaper than the local guides from the travel departments in the street. Breakfast was really tasty theres a variety of cakes, fruit, cereals the staff again were always offering help and service was amazing. Breakfast had fresh eggs to order as well as waffles and pancakes and omlettes. Really recommend this hotel however the room we had was a little small that is the only very small issue we had but the staff did apologise that the room was small. All the staff were very helpful but especially the concierge rajesh he was always pointing us in the best places sorting are taxis for the cheapest price he could an all round being very helpful for are stay

We enjoyed this hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our room was compact but very nice. The hotel has fresh lime juice free in reception , all day and complimentary tea/ coffee and biscuits, in the restaurant lounge each afternoon. The only drawback, at the moment was the excavation of the new underground system, right next door. The works are 24hrs a day. The road opposite has open urinals and a rubbish sorting venue. Once in the hotel these things didn't matter.

We stayed here for one night on arrival in India and for a further four nights at the end of our stay.
The hotel is located in the Fort area within walking distance of many of Mumbai's main sites of interest. The hotel dates back to the 1930s, but the rooms are modern, clean and reasonably well-appointed. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and includes a wide range of options, many cooked to order. The hotel retains many traditional qualities, and all the staff - on reception, in the restaurant, bellboys and cleaners - were very helpful and courteous.
Overall, a very good value option.
However, the major metro works under way in Mumbai run very close to the hotel and often involve heavy work running into the night. Our first night was badly disturbed by this (not ideal when leaving Mumbai on a 6.15 am train!); during our second stay, our room was at the other end of the hotel and we were much less affected.

Concierge Rajesh was so helpful - organizing taxis and letting us know what to expect to pay , making sure we had everything we needed and always welcoming - nothing was too much trouble . Roshan was also amazing ! I left my mobile in a store and he kindly rang them for me and organized very quickly a taxi to and from the store to pick it up .All staff fantastic and attentive really wanting you to have a great stay. As a woman traveler if I am able to return again to Mumbai and I was alone or with another female traveler I would definitely stay at Hotel residency Fort . Felt very safe at all times . Thank you 🙏

We stayed in Mumbai for 3 nights at the Residency in the new room 701. It’s great, very smart marble and wood room which was very well appointed. The shower is superb, the bed is excellent and the location couldn’t be better.
The staff were fantastic, they found us a tour driver, Hakim, who was just the best guy you could wish for, ask the hotel staff for him.
They also changed money for us at a good rate, told us where the best restaurant was (It’s just around the corner, seriously it’s the #1 seafood restaurant in Mumbai) and sorted out our laundry for us in double quick time.
If I come back to Mumbai this is where I’ll be staying.
Oh and the breakfast is great too. All fresh, cooked on the spot for you by the chef. Try the Masala Dosa.

We arrived very early from an overnight train and right from entering the hotel, we had an excellent experience.
We were greeted in a very friendly way by the reception staff and offered snacks and drinks, most appreciated. We were also given a room straight away despite the early hour so were able to get a few hours’ sleep after a hot shower.
All the staff were friendly, polite and courteous and spoke good English. Breakfast was varied and delicious and served over a wide range of hours to suit both early and late risers. We were also able to store our luggage after check out.
Despite the fact that the rooms would benefit from some maintenance, our Club room had everything we needed - kettle, fridge, good AC and a comfortable bed.
I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. We’ve had 4 fantastic weeks in India and this has been one of the best we’ve stayed in. Also good access to CSMT and Churcghate stations.

Every year I visit this hotel, on holidays I enjoy relaxing by staying here. the Location is so nice, room is always clean and comfortable(this time I stayed at club room, that was amazing! big, quiet, pleasant room, I really liked it!), great variety of menu in breakfast, that was very nice. and always staff is excellent, that is the fact worthy of mention !!Their service and works are always really superb, I'm sure that they try to improve ther service quality every year. Cleaning staff work hard for guests from early morning to in the middle of night. Also restaurant staff make me so happy, I enjoyed breakfast and very nice tea at lounge everyday, Ballu, Kasar, Akmal, and all kitchen dining staff, thank you so much !
Reception staff is always helpfull and kindly, they also every time do the best for guests, Roshan and Abhijeet, they are very reliable front staff, and always cheers me up. Peter ji and Laurence ji, they are always thinking of customer's pleasure, they are here, so I can feel quite at home in this hotel. And I am deeply grateful to Rajesh, he is a very reliable concierge, always works hard and helps for guests( of course, for me), I leaned about Mumbai and India from him. This time he also helped packing my suitcase and solved mobile problem...thank you so much!

The Residency undoubtedly is going through a rather trying time because of the Hutatma Chawk Metro works but having said that the very attentive staff in all areas of the hotel give such exceptional service that most guests are prepared to overlook the slight inconveniences of the location which otherwise is perfect for exploring South Mumbai! Plenty of small shops and restaurants within a hop skip and jump distance too! I wish I could name each and every member of the staff because everyone does aim to please! The reception staff – Lawrence, Peter, Sushant, Mr.Patil, Toral & others are extremely accommodating following their motto “service beyond a smile”. The Hotel's other motto is 'Come as a guest, leave as a friend' and I most certainly left the hotel feeling very valued like an old friend! Keshav’s addressing me Madamji and waiting on me very attentively at the complimentary breakfast time and the complimentary 'Masala Chai' time at other times in the lounge was genuine and very touching! My son was very fortunate to experience this too when he visited me a couple of times. The Complimentary breakfast is indeed very sumptuous - freshly cooked breakfast dishes like Chole, Puris, Samosas, Idli Sambhar, Dhoklas, Pohe, Upma, Sheera, etc., + Chef Girish takes orders for eggs cooked “as you like them”, fresh waffles, dosas, etc. Plenty of regular breakfast items too - fresh fruit, juices, baked goods, cereals, tea, coffee etc all served by the ever smiling Balwant and a happy Keshav often humming a tune! And bottles of water are always freely available. I don't drink coffee which made dear Keshav rather sad as he was an expert in the Latte Art. One American lady sitting next to me at the breakfast table shrieked with delight when presented with a portrait of a lady in her latte. I mustn’t forget the ever helpful & courteous Rajesh, one of the first staff members who would show the guests to their rooms. If you needed transport, Rajesh would very kindly help you book it or walk to the end of the street to hail a cab for you. The cheerful cleaners Shivam and Saahil would greet me in the mornings and ask if I needed my room to be cleaned or if I needed extra supplies of water, towels or loo rolls. On my previous trips to Mumbai, I stayed with relatives but this time I wanted to experience Mumbai as a tourist and Residency proved to be the right choice for me for a comfortable, safe & a very happy stay – a longer stay than most guests – 14 days! I wouldn’t hesitate to book Residency again on a future visit to Mumbai! A Very Big Thank You Residency!

You can also pay for a pre paid taxi at the airport. It is cheaper than hotel transfer. Uber is even cheaper. Citibank is just around the corner from Hotel Residency for money exchange or any other bank in the area. Try and get a room with a balcony - very light and spacious.
