The Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai captivates guests with its historical charm and luxurious amenities, including diverse dining options and an indulgent pool area. Its prime location garners consistent praise, as does the exemplary service from attentive staff, although some service delays are noted. While the hotel's cleanliness and regal atmosphere are highlights for many travelers, opinions on value for money and noise levels are mixed, with some guests finding the experience overpriced and at times, noisy.

We are leisure travelers who literally came to Mumbai only to stay at this iconic hotel..we had the most awesome time ever!
As I state in all my revies - we are luxury travelers who've stayed in almost all of Tajs, Oberois and Leelas so yes we're fully aware of the luxury hotels and what they have to offer!
We were staying at the iconic Palace Wing of the hotel in the Grand View Room facing the Gateway of India.
It was a brilliant stay right from the view, to the room, to the pool, to the restaurants - everything was enjoyable!
Even our little issues here and there - were sorted so promptly by Mr Praveen from housekeeping and also personal attention was given by Mr Chandrakant - the floor manager.
Our most outrageous request too was gladly fulfilled by Mr Chandrakant.
Really made us feel like royals!
Absolutely worth visiting.
The palace wing has a separate place for having breakfast too with crazy views of Gateway of India.
Highly recommend this iconic hotel!

A 2 night stay at the Luxury Grande Sea View Room at Taj Mahal Palace Hotel at Mumbai on the 5th Floor was just the perfect setting for our 43rd Wedding Anniversary.

While before checking- in we had enormous doubts about our safety at the hotel during this on-going pandemic but our all fears were allayed once we reached the Hotel and noticed the highest safety norms that were in force with not an iota chance of any infection…….and the safety arrangements made in the hotel were perhaps even better than our own home.

The first interaction with the hotel staff, on arrival, was unlike any other 5 star properties we have encountered till date. The respectfulness, warmth and good manners were found to be ingrained in every individual at every level in the hotel rare to be found.

The Heritage Wing is maintained like a palace spic and span displaying an aura of Royalty. Every single artefact is showcased aesthetically with care for the minutest detail.

The room itself was spacious with all modern amenities yet keeping the heritage flavour. Sea view was awesome. The effort of the staff was always more to look after the guests rather than making extra money for the hotel which is normally the case. Hence getting extra drinking water or tea/coffee sachets etc. was never an issue.

The breakfast was lavish both at Shamiana and also at the Sea Lounge which catered for only the Palace wing guests. Sea Lounge was, no doubt, royal with ever favourite sea view tables. Sea Lounge has undergone a lot of change since I had visited last some 4 decades ago……….no doubts for the better.

Meals vouchers per guest were also lavish for a very decent pre-paid amount and the quantity offered was liberal, just impossible to be consumed fully by one person. This was applicable at both venues, namely, Masala Kraft with Indian cuisine and also at Shamiana, the Coffee Shop. The option for use of the Meal Vouchers for any meal was also a great plus.

The erection of a Memorial constructed within the premises, in the memory of the hotel staff who made supreme sacrifice while saving the lives of the resident guests during 26/11 bomb blasts, is a humane gesture unparalleled in perhaps the entire hospitality industry and needs to be commended.
In short, it was our most memorable wedding anniversary till date that we will cherish for all time to come.

Thank you Taj Mahal Palace Hotel Management for the world class Covid19 safety regime , awesome maintenance of the hotel , for the most efficient, mannered, respectful and professional staff, for the personalised service with care and above all for according us an honour and respect befitting a royalty during our stay.
Wishing the entire Taj Group family a safe and healthy future.
Good Luck.
God Bless!

Our family booked two “sea view club rooms” in the Palace for sadly just one night.
We arrived at 10.00am not expecting to be able to check in so early but this is when the Taj Palace experience started. We were taken to the Palace Lounge where refreshments were offered while the check in formalities took place in tranquillity. Not only could we check in early but were upgraded to the stunning Maratha suite on the 6th floor with an interconnecting room.
This review would be too long to describe just how great the service was and how absolutely fantastic these rooms were. The attention to detail is incredible and there certainly was nothing we could fault. The view of India Gate and the ferry boats, the bathrooms along with their quality amenities and abundance of soft white towels, the bedrooms with huge comfy beds, the beautiful furniture and rugs, the chandeliers and dimmable lighting, everything is just outstanding and luxurious.
We loved our rooms so much we forwent the complementary drinks and hors d’oeuvres between 6.00pm and 7.00pm in the Palace Lounge and paid for drinks to be delivered to our rooms.
The Taj Mahal Palace is truly five star and the staff are exceptional. Stay more than one night if time permits, you won’t be disappointed.

The ambience and feel of this hotel is fantastic from the moment you arrive. The staff are genuinely warm and welcoming

The room was very nice and a complimentary fruit basket was provided. They are immaculately clean as are the adjacent corridors and walkways and there are some interesting pieces of art on every floor.

We had an nice breakfast every morning with fresh delicious food and beverages. The bars were also great as was the live music

My only complaint is this. People stay here because they can afford it so please do not hussle them into upgrading the Wifi for a few extra dollars by limiting the number of devices and speed. It is not a matter of money but a source of irritation especially with a hotel of this standard.

Otherwise highly recommend to everyone

Right from arrival to departure the stay was well coordinate, synchronized, organized and executed so well that we had a feeling of a Royal with hotel team waiting by our side with a big SMILE. Small gestures matter a lot, and these are the acts that make this team stand apart from other experiences. Right from well set-up room, to personalized photos around the room, celebrations cake, to a very warn hospitality across the length and breath of the property. Delicious cuisine, well sanitized hygiene standards to make us feel extra safe and comfortable in these difficult times of COVID 19. Thanks Team Taj, Special mention of Ms. Mahtaab Sidhwa; Team at Masala Kraft, Shamiana and the Sea Lounge for the special warmth and attention.

I think most Mumbaikars as well as Indians dream of staying at a Luxurious Hotel, Taj Mahal would be on the list of most Indians and so was ours. We got an amazing deal owing to Corona so didn't wanna miss on such an opportunity.

Our Check-in took an hour and despite prior intimation about arrival were made to wait in the queue perhaps because they had lot of walk in customers on that day. We were given a nice sea facing room on highest possible floor and really felt the history and culture along with Taj Mahal in each and every aspect of the room. The walk in the aisles was like down a memory lane and so much to see and Enjoy as if was a guided Tour. We saw some Celebrities and ourselves felt like one. Our request for late checkout was accepted and we were glad to get the food coupons as well as part of our package. The Fun ends here.

Room Service was non existent and they refused to pick up despite escalating the matter multiple times. We ordered a cup of tea but made a mistake as it came cold and without any cookies. The cookies came 30 min later than too after multiple calls which again was after multiple attempts to reach a human voice. We didn't order anything after that as we were not sure whether it would be served on time.

We went to the Ball room where Buffet was served and seemed like it was thrown for people to eat. The Food was Cold and Fresh/Warm servings took 30-40 min. We had to eat rice because Rotis just didn't come out and had to eat Cold Daal and Sabzi etc One of the Desserts was stale and had to get it replaced from the table. The last part was checkout which again took almost 1.5 hrs whereas we could have been asked to stay in the room for a bit longer.

While I understand that it's Corona time and they had less Staff, the Occupancy must be kept accordingly so that each and every Guest feels welcomed and not stuffed. We were told the Hotel was overbooked due to walk in guests but that ruined one of my dream stay. I have stayed in many other Taj Hotels and have never been as disappointed as this stay. I am a Taj and Oberoi Brand fan but this was surely a dent in my expectations and experience.

Looking forward to a much better Taj Experience next time.

Booked a Luxury Grande Sea View Room in Taj Mahal Palace Hotel Old Heritage Building 5th Floor.

In keeping with the Covid needs, the hotel is ensuring a very strict and fool proof compliance of all Covid precautions norms at every level including the menus which are sanitized on every occasion before handing over to the guests.Hence very safe under the prevalent Covid conditions.

The highlight of the stay was the top class personalised service and care to the extent of pampering during our entire stay not often seen.

Located in the close proximity of commercial hubs like Nariman Point and Ballard Estate, Government Offices, Mumbai Port and Indian Naval facilities.

The room is spacious and well maintained with all modern amenities with good contemporary furniture and furnishings. Sea-facing room provides an unobstructed view of the iconic Gateway of India along-with an awesome sunrise.

Breakfast Buffet is elaborate and for Heritage Wing Guests there is an exclusive service at Sea Lounge, in addition to the common buffet at their Coffee Shop, Shamiana.

For other meals there is a very wide choice of restaurants catering for almost all type of cuisine including a dedicated and historical Harbour Bar.

The staff is smart and respectful ever willing to help and guide with smooth and
uncomplicated checking-in/ out procedures.

There is a decent shopping arcade for upmarket shopping.

The Swimming Pool was not in use due to Covid restrictions.

On the whole it was a luxurious 2 night stay in an Iconic Heritage 5 Star Hotel with the minutest need taken care of and beautifully complemented by the top world class personalised service and care.

Unfortunately arrived for only a 1 night stay on the back of the closure of international boarders. Many thanks to the hotel for adjusting our itinerary at very short notice. A magnificent building with so much past and unfortunately recent history.
In keeping with all hotels of this standing we were pleased to be greeted by temperature testing and hand sanitizer readily available. Thank you for looking after us.
Greeted by Harendra Naidu, very professional, polite and informative arrival and room introduction 👍. We were introduced to our floor butler for whom not request was to much. Room well appointed, clean and great view of the Gateway to India.
The hotel was very quiet due to the current virus situation, staff were very helpful and polite.
Had snacks and a drink in the Harbour Bar, the squid and prawn snacks were very good.
Great to walk the halls of this hotel and take in the photographs of past visitors. The memorial to the tragic 2008 attack is very special.
Breakfast was strange with so few guests and the knowledge clearly for the staff of an uncertain period ahead. The food was very good with an active Southern India cook station. Thanks to the Shamibna Team and restaurant manager Ilvika Chandawarkar for the special breakfast cake wishing us a safe journey home.
Mumbai feels a very safe city, we walked locally on the morning we left.

I got the opportunity to stay at the Executive Suite at The Taj Mahal Palace. There wasn't much information or pictures around the web. Let me describe it in one word: exceptional.
From the moment of your arrival, from the moment you open your room door and until the moment you leave.
The room comes with a free tea package pp at The Sea Lounge which overlooks the sea if that isn't obvious and India Gate.
They also come with free two piece garment ironing, basket of fruits daily.
They will come and do your room several times a day and prepare it for you, for breakfast, lunch and dinner... You won't even have to figure the curtains or go around the place to do it yourself which is huge.

In my case it came with full boarding of meals from two of the restaurants: Masala Kraft and Shamaine Restaurant. Masala Kraft service and food is on another level, it's amazing. Shamaine is more akin to any buffet from any international luxury hotel.
You will have a huge discount on luxury transfer to airport.
TV comes with Airtel (with all included sport matches, F1, GT racing). TV has got speakers in the bathroom so you don't miss a thing.
Connections for VGA, HDMI, RCA, ethernet ports available on an easy access socket for the two TVs.

You will find cute Post cards on the desk. dnacks on table, bottled water, fantastic amenity kits, you call it.

Bathtub it's HUGE, the pictures can't tell how big it is because how oversized everything is. It fills up in a flash. You'll have tons of towels, we are talking about 7-8 towels prepared in your bedroom. Bathrobes available. As usual you'll have an iron in case you need to dress up.

About my only complaint is how much they pest you about having a DSLR like if phones didn't take as good pictures or as much details nowadays based on "security" grounds. Be aware I was mindful on where and how I took my pictures to not bother anyone and or disturb any other guests.

The Taj Palace is one of the best hotels in the world-- maybe the best. Gracefully designed, brightly adorned with flowers everywhere, the Palace is the very essence of old world glamour. Even the staircases deserve a photo or two. The hotel rooms have every amenity possible (I had both bath and separate shower), and they are luxurious to the extreme. They place a design of flower petals on the floor of your suite. The service is beyond excellent. Everyone there is generous, pleasant, helpful beyond their station. A man knocked on my door to say, "I am your butler Madam. How can I help?" The food in the hotel restaurants was excellent. The buffet breakfast was wonderful. When I wanted something not on the menu, the chef made it for me. Everyday you get to view the historic Gateway to India for sunrise and sunset. Worth every single cent you pay, the Taj is a once in a lifetime experience for even the seasoned traveler. Well, not for me. I'm going back as soon as possible! Magical India indeed!

Hi, it depends on availability, you're best option is to book a room that you would like and send them a message to request twin beds. They will reply saying depending on availability but mostly likely they should give it to you. Hope this helps x
