At the airport the Air India team were very unhelpful in finding us reasonable accommodation. As we we flying business class I had expected a somewhat better level of service. The customer service lady seemed to try a few hotels before giving us the Centaur which we were assured was a good class hotel.
This is a complete joke. The hotel is owned by the government which owns Air India.
It is a very shabby hotel that has had no investment for many years.
The food was poor, there is no alcohol available and the staff don't even have uniforms , they are just wearing their own clothes.
My friend had to have the bed sheets changed 3 times before she accepted them.
This hotel should be closed down and completely refurbished to a modern airport city hotel. I was disgusted with the whole process.
How I changed upon this place?
Missed a flight and was looking at a few hours to rest my head on a bed.
Saw this place listed on the web and decided to check it out in person before booking it.
Faded and jaded, caught in a time warp, its enormously huge and cavernously large lobby area speaks its own story of it's opulence and grandeur that have since been lost and rotted away due to neglect.
Tucked in an way to miss corner of the airport, its rusting decrepit building appearance is quite symbolic of what's in store. It's entrance pathway resembles a Jurassic park where mother nature took over and you will find lots of peacocks and parakeets on its lawns. The once upon a time fountains and water bodies no longer work. The Acropolis like lobby shows it's age - faded carpets, a big gaping hole in what must have been a ceiling and a dining area where the AC is a tad too chilly.
Rooms offered were of two types. The cheaper older room was filled with mushy smells and showed its age while the newer refurbished rooms (almost double the cost) looked like any modern day 3 star luxury hotel room.
At the side of the lobby is a pool that must have been pretty happening in the 70s.
Reminded me of the movie 'Grand Budapest Hotel' with the hotel having clearly moved past it's grand old days.
Service folks in the lobby restaurant are polite and very good but expect them to be slow.
Did I stay here?
No after at the options and discussing it while sitting in the lobby dining area, I didn't. All in all, if Air India offered this to me as an option, I would be wary.
In aerocity hotels .
Lift is one problem
Staff were very helpful.
Rooms were clean
Bathroom could be cleaned and maintained
Overall an average hotel
3 km from IGI
Value for money.
Budget hotel
Good connectivity
Very chilly in public areas
First thought the hotel looked okay .Staff very pleasant and helpful.
Room okay and bed comfy.need shower curtain as bathroom floor was soaking after shower,Water was hot and some toiletries provided.
Only 1 cup and 1 towel provided but reception provided more.
No hairdryer so requested one from reception. Then after I had gone to bed and asleep I was called as they wanted hairdryer back. Why not say this earlier instead of waking me up.
Wifi did not work in our room.
Food okay but breakfast omelette was cold and no juice provided.
No bar facilities or anywhere to get a decent coffee.
The gents toilets on the reception area was rancid according to my partner and he has travelled through a lot of third world countries. He said it was stinking and filthy. No loo paper.
Will not be back unless our flight once again does not leave here .
1. The hotel looks spooky (typical English movie type) but offers an amazing ambience for seller of adventure thriller. Not much to do as such inside.
2. The Center hall in reception is so amazing, it’s like the titanic recovered after being capsized. Once upon a time, the hotel has its full glory, but now counting days to take over. It’s a good shooting spot for the Movie directors / producers.
3. The lift and the Center hall look is actually like Taj Bengal in Kolkata or some taj group of hotels.
4. Room is neat and clean and properly maintained within the scope.
5. The old staff are polite, the new ones / interns are learning.
6. Food is limited but good.
7. Room rent is around 3500 compare to the aerocity where I pay 10,000 average.
8. The rooms give a wonderful view of the airport runway and from the bed you can see flights taking off.
9. Very silent and very less boarders. So if you are afraid of ghost, and use to watch horror movies, avoid staying alone.
But the hotel has its charm. How I wish I had funding to renovate the entire hotel, may be Mr. Ratan Tata can intervene as it’s a part of Air India group.
Please don’t expect exceptional room service. Think it as a 5 star tourist lodge. Most facilities are closed so just enjoy the stay.
I reached at 7 pm and they said no room is available. My nephew prepaid it . Reception staff was deliberately slow , On my complaining , a senior guy told staff to give me room 3009. The room was dirty, plugged sink, peeling pain. Shower head was leaking all over . Because I wanted to sleep for 6 hours before my early morning international flight, I just crashed after getting sink and toilet working . This is worst place , have ever stayed. This place needed to be shut down . Needs massive renovation.
Can’t comment on food as I was out at 4.15 am
Was first offered a room which could be opened only with a master key! Reasoning by the front desk.. you will not be going anywhere tonight, right??
Upon refusal, offered a room that stank of cigarette smoke!
Was taken by the more professional of the two front desk to another room! Although I accepted the room, the bed was poorly done up, the hygiene spray was rusted, there was no spoon to mix the coffee, the closeup mirror 2 sided mirror was broken.
The comforter cover was torn on the inside, and my foot got caught in it while sleeping and tore even more!
I asked for a packed breakfast, hot parathas wrapped in foil were offered with no carry bag!in the end I was given a big hotel laundry bag to carry it!!
I am shocked that this is considered the standard on a 4 star hotel! The poor attitude to upkeep and lack of professionalism at the front desk certainly cast a long and dark shadow on the minds of visitors, especially foreigners!!
