This hotel is truly wonderful. After all the weirdness and stress of the past two years, this is the place to let all of those worries just slip away and relax. Villa Rosa is simply perfect - from the large and airy room to the terraces with stunning views, the food and the lovely staff. We were sorry our itinerary only allowed two nights here and we will definitely make a point of staying at this beautiful hotel again if we are lucky enough to ever come back to Sri Lanka.

One of the most wonderful hotels we have ever stayed in. Incredible view over the river and hills, a perfect place to relax in the evenings after a day exploring, or to take a lazy morning reading while listening to the beautiful birds singing. Staff are fantastic, so attentive and work so hard to make the stay the best it can possibly be. The food was the best we had in Sri Lanka, we ate two nights here, as well as places in town, but Villa Rosa was by far the best. They also helped arranged transport when needed and a day trip to Sigiriya. Cannot recommend this place highly enough, we loved it. A huge thank you to the incredible team working there for making our stay so wonderful.

The villa is simply amazing. Rooms and common areas are over the top. The view on the river is breathtaking. Food is also very good. Service is perfect - Mr. Dilan is extremely welcoming, helpful and professional. By far, has been the best stay in the country.

Only ate at the restaurant but it didn’t make me want to stay there. The restaurant was excellent, but the impression I got of the hotel was not encouraging. On one hand it looked to be very luxe so I’m sure comfortable. For me the problem was the isolation, which for some could be an advantage. It’s in town so it’s not like you’re in the forest. Instead of hearing frogs or crickets at night all you here is the continuous barking of the neighbouring dogs. There are just (unattractive) buildings and lots around the hotel. Fairly far to go into town. Moreover not all the tuktuk drivers know where it is and as there is no sign on the street it was very difficult to find.

The hotel occupies a stunning spot overlooking the river with distant hill views. Up an insanely steep hill and close enough to town to get in and out quickly. The owner/manager converted it from his house and it is small enough to be charming and intimate. Our room was good but felt a little tired - also our bathroom had a treacherously slippy floor, shared by the toilet and shower. We stayed a couple of nights and didn't have dinner - the breakfasts were excellent. The hotel has no pool but offers free access to a large pool at a hotel down the road - I went for a quick swim and this worked perfectly. The welcome was a little brisk and efficient (and we got some misleading advice about how far away our resto booking was) but, as ever in this country, the local staff were wonderfully polite, charming and efficient. No real complaints but we'd recommend staying at the Kandy House (stunning old building with modern flourishes, awesome restaurant) rather than here
