This place is awesome, it’s centrally located yet tucked away. We like how it’s slightly rustic, authentic, and not bourgeois. Robert who works there was super helpful and friendly! The price is good for the area as well. Would happily recommend.

The cabins are rustic, cute, comfy, airy and clean with nice views of the mountains and town. Staff were friendly and helpful. When we were there the restaurant was only open for breakfast which was disappointing because one of the reasons I booked the place was that the restaurant looked so nice. There are quite a few stairs to climb to get to the lodge which is fine if you’re not affected by the altitude. Ask for an upper room for a better view if you don’t mind the extra stairs. Staff were nice and helpful.

Arguably one of the best looking hotels in the area. The service was fantastic in many ways. We were met at the train station and guided to the hotel. We were able to store our luggage for the day whilst we went up Machu Picchu. And anything they could do to help they did. We had rooms 3 & 4 which had a brilliant view of the mountains around from the balcony. The room was a lovely wooden feel. The only downsides to the rooms were there was a lot of windows with no curtains etc so the light came in. Also there was a lot of noise from the surrounding neighbours and animals. We took eye masks and earplugs so didn’t suffer much lack of sleep but definitely do go equipped. The breakfast was also great! It was a 3 courses including fruit, cereal & yoghurt and then eggs and bread along with a coffee. There was also a lot of steps to get to the hotel - which is how you get the views but just be aware with luggage and at altitude it is not fun.

My family of 9, including 4 kids, stayed one night while visiting Machu Picchu. We were delighted with this establishment. It is located on a street off the main square- not difficult to find but there are a lot of stairs to climb to get to the hotel. We reserved three rooms and each one was attractive, very clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and the towels were large. We also had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant- scrumptious.

First of all, make sure you know the way there before you leave the train station. Asking for directions on the streets won't help, and a wrong turn can cause you a lot of extra uphill hiking. It's on the edge of town and a bit of a way up the hill. This is a comfortable lodge. Relatively new and well-kept. You'll have some noise from local neighbors as it's not secluded. While we were their, the neighbor's dog was sleeping in a cardboard box just outside of the entrance. The restaurant is convenient. Don't get their take-away lunch for your day of hiking. It's not really well-designed to handle the bumps of an adventure

Sadly this hotel is not what we expected. The photos, well staged and aimed, happily exclude that surrounding the hotel are half-finished buildings with farm animals, older buildings in disrepair, and not a square of forest. You also have to smell garbage as you walk to your room, but fortunately not inside the room. This was far from being a peaceful space. No housekeeping came to empty our trash and refresh towels. This usually isn't so much a big deal, but in Peru where you toss your poop-covered TP into the trash can, you really want that tossed out daily. A dog pooped in the center of the patio by the front gate in the first 30 minutes we were there. It stayed there for everyone to walk around for our entire two-day stay. No one at the hotel or restaurant bothered to pick it up despite walking past it dozens of times a day. It was strange, because the hotel host was fairly attentive when we asked for things. On the positive side, the room was comfortable and so were the beds. One of our rooms had the most gorgeous view (room 5) that we had in all of Peru. The bathroom and bedroom were clean. Unfortunately, you hear families in nearby apartment living their lives all night long, and in the morning, roosters crowing in your ear. The host was attentive to our needs, and we had a bunch: laundry, extra towels, extra pillows. But then we'd ask questions and be given wrong answers: e.g. we asked whether the hot springs provided towels, and the hosts said "Yes", but there were no towels at the hot springs.

I stayed at Rupa Wasi for a night. The wooden bungalow like rooms are comfortable and cozy. The bed is a cloud to sleep on. The view from the balcony, rain, and birds chirping was fantastic. Do yourself a favor and stay here.

This is my second time staying here! I absolutely LOVE the environment! The staff have always been wonderful and it is such a cozy and unique place to stay. I love their focus on the environment as well, such a bonus! Their breakfast was amazing too, and starts at 4:30 am so if you want to get an early hike to Machu Picchu, you can go after having a great breakfast! I FOR SURE recommend this place!

The lady from Rupa Wasi picked us up from the train station and was very nice. It's located very well, like 1 block away from the main square and you do have to walk some stairs but it's totally worth it. The room we got was the honeymoon and it was perfectly packed! nice and big, beautiful bath, the shower was awesome, hot water! quite a nic experience of being safe combinaed with nature, big windows that help you see everything and if you wanna have a nice sleep, they als have black out curtains, bed was also very comfortable. We had to go early to machu picchu, so we went down to hav breakfast around 5 am and it was delicious. Great service!

We recently stayed in two rooms for two nights at the Rupa Wasi Lodge. The first and most important thing to note is that the staff are very friendly and try to be helpful. The gal in the afternoon even came and found me after I'd dropped 50 soles in the lobby! Super impressive. The kids stayed in the tree house room and loved it. We had the double room on top and it was nice, too. We'd just hiked 4 days to Machu Pichu so the climb up to the hotel and our rooms was tough, but worth it. The Treehouse Restaurant has delicious food, but small portions for us starving hikers. One star off because the breakfast is not vegan friendly. Strangely, the restaurant has several delicious vegan options, but the breakfast is eggs and yogurt and cereal. I asked if I could just have a big bowl of the delicious potatoes instead of eggs and bread, but was told "no". No soy milk for coffee either. Given that animal agriculture is a leading cause of our climate emergency and millions of people around the world are choosing the vegan lifestyle to help and/or for their health, having vegan options at breakfast should be available.
