Detailed Reviews
The hotel is about 8 minutes by car from the center. It is located in a quiet cove with crystal clear sea and views of the Pakleni islands. The rooms are small, and unfortunately not decorated. they have ancient furniture which is not permissible given the number of stars. Breakfast is plain with only the necessary groceries. No creativity. The beach bar also serves food that you eat only if you are very hungry, because it does not provide any quality. It looks like it was cooked in the morning and then reheated. The staff is mostly kind, but sometimes some girls can't act because they laugh too much, so forced kindness can be seen. The hotel has its own parking lot, which is convenient, but a taxi ride to the center costs 100 kuna, which is extremely expensive for a few kilometers. Everyone has that agreed price and thus brings you before the finished act.

I came here with my 13 year old son just to chill for a week in August after not going away during the lockdown. It was a 3 hour ferry ride from Dubrovnik which of I would have known when booking, I might not have decided to go so far. Regardless, I am so happy we did do this trip. The ferry ride was easy and when we got to the port we were met by a small boat (you can also do a cheap cab) and taken 5 mins to the hotel. The staff are all lovely, the place is simple and beautiful and peaceful. Lovely sea. The main hotel is up on the rocks like Amalfi Italy and you go down to the private sunbathing area right on the sea. Nice restaurant although not lots to choose from if yo don't eat meat. Breakfast nice and easy and good selection of all foods. Bar lunch also not great choice if you're a veggie, but still very nice. We were really happy here and had a lovely relaxing time in the sun and swam in the beautiful clear sea. Each night a 15-20 min walk along the coastline to Hvar town where there are a good selection of restaurants and shops etc. It's nice to be able to walk to a bit more of the tourist buzz, but also so lovely to be in a peaceful nicely run pretty hotel just close enough to walk from. Rooms simple but nice. I would recommend the main hotel over the new build just because it has a nicer view and is easier to get to the restaurant and sea/sunbathing area.Yes, I would definitely recommend this hotel. Also a small spa which has massage and pedicure/manicures etc all by the same person. Small, but very nice. A great find and it was our first trip to Croatia and would definitely go back.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Podstine and were blown away by its location when we arrived... just beautiful. We paid extra for a room with a sea view and it was worth it - 180 degree views of the sea, complete with stunning sunsets at night. The staff were friendly and helpful and assisted with booking water taxis and a mini cruise to Palmigana (well worth doing). The beach is perfectly laid out and we never had a problem getting sun beds. People on here have moaned about the walk into Hvar, but it is a stunning walk all along the coastline, it's so pretty we did it twice a day. I can't really fault our stay other than the breakfasts were average but who cares when you are eating it looking out over the Dalmatian sea and islands.

This property is located right on the water with a nice swimming area and a dock for water taxi's or potential pick up location for water related tours. The food at the property was excellent but a little expensive when comparing to the average. Zero complaints about the room or the beds. I would suggest that you get a ride when you need to handle luggage but access to Hvar's promenade is not difficult for a stroll into town and taking advantage of the many places to eat and get refreshments. I would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

The most amazing trip. We couldn’t have asked for a better hotel. We stayed in the superior exclusive room - the view from our room was absolutely stunning. The food was lovely, lots of variety for lunch and dinner and the breakfast (included in price) was also lovely. All the staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk along the coast to the centre or 100 kuna in a taxi. We always managed to get a sun lounger on the beach and there was plenty of space to sit around the bar / on the cliff side for lunch etc. I can’t recommend the hotel enough and would definitely go back.

The hotel grounds are beautiful. The beach area was a lot of fun. The rooms are nice and we had a good view. The hotel is a bit far from the town but not a terrible walk. The breakfast didn’t offer much selection but dinner was excellent. Our service from Ivan was great. Overall we enjoyed our stay. A couple of recommendations for the hotel. You need to improve your covid protocol. None of your staff wore masks and there was virtually no reminders to people to wash hands, distance etc. Maybe have a designated spot for smokers, especially cigar smokers. We couldn’t get away from it unfortunately.

Such a beautiful property in a spectacular location with a staff that truly enhanced the stay in the most
Positive ways. The location is within walking distance to the city center but private enough to not be bothered by the noises of the partying areas. Hvar is totally worth the visit and Hotel Podstine makes the perfect spot to call home during your vacation!

Hvar is a hilly, party-focused town that can be noisy. However, the Podstine Hotel offers a more peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. The hotel comes with a private beach, though it lacks sandy beaches typical of the region. Just note the rest of Hvar charges €40 per day to use a beach sun lounger, so it's a massive bonus to have a private beach.
Our superior room had sea views, though the room was slightly dated despite being large and very clean. The view was partially blocked by a palm tree, and the large balcony went largely unused. Temperatures are currently over 30°C/90°F in this area.
Breakfast was excellent, with a wide selection including coffee, smoked salmon, eggs, and various other foods.
There have been previous reviews complaining about the distance from the town center. Hvar is quite hilly, so getting around requires some effort. Walking to the town takes around 25 minutes along the waterfront path which is lit at night, or 15 minutes by road. Taxis cost approximately €20.
In summary, Podstine offers a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere compared to the lively town, but it does require more walking. The tradeoff is the ability to enjoy Hvar's culinary delights and a peaceful night's sleep away from the bustling town center. The hotel's service has been excellent, with staff consistently delivering drinks to guests on the beach sun loungers.
We have loved this stay

We stayed on 3rd floor of the hotel which is actually the same floor as reception. Our room was small, but was fine for what we needed. The only downside was that we had no balcony, only a Juliet so it made drying our wet clothes difficult.
The breakfast is good, and you can request poached eggs if you wish. The gentleman running the breakfast was very helpful and efficient. The ladies running the beach bar were also very pleasant. The beach area is really pretty, the only downside is a lack of umbrellas so you have to be really careful with where you pick to sit/lie. The sun can be pretty intense there.
The pool area isn't great - very small and the metal ladders are a hazard. There are steps built into the pool that you can use.
The hotel is about 20/25 mins walk outside of Hvar Town and you need to be pretty comfortable with hills and steps to do the walk. Taxis are scarce, and in event it costs €20 one way!!! So maybe save that for getting your luggage to the ferry! I would stay here again, for what we paid it was good.

A beautiful location with its own private section of the coast and a pier so private boats can do pick up and drop offs from the hotel. The staff were all lovely and very accommodating. Our room was very nice with beautiful views of the sea. We ate in the hotel’s restaurant twice and had two beautiful meals. It’s only a 15 minute walk into town which is nice and we definitely preferred this quieter location away from the busy town. Would 100% recommend Hotel Podstine.

I don’t know but they do have a spa menu so it’s possible. Suggest you contact them directly.
We used the ferry, which was fine. They run frequently and are timely and well run.
Hi there, there are lifts to all main floors but you’d need to navigate quite a few steps to the bar and beach area.
Easy, we have brilliant contact in Croatian holiday company who sorts out all our transport, ferry tickets and taxi pick ups.
You can get Ferry from Dubrovnik to Hvar and too many of the other islands.
You don't really need a car in Hvar ......if you wanted you could hire one there.
We have also done a bus from Dubrovnik too.
Personally would not bother with a car, use the taxi, bus and ferry...Car will inhibit you visiting the islands like Korcula, Vis or Hvar.
Try ...fly into Dubrovnik and out via Split as a holiday option.
Get back to me if you want my Croatian contact, he has never let us down and family and friends all use him.
Cheers ,hope this helps. Dom
You can walk round from hvar. It takes about 25 minutes
