Palace Elisabeth is the first full service 5-star heritage hotel situated in the heart of Hvar, directly above the city hall overlooking the main square. It is located in one of the key places in the city and is considered a historic landmark with stunning Venetian and Austrian architectural details. The history of the palace dates back to the 13th century and in 1899 it was rebuilt under the name Spa Hotel Empress Elisabeth, after the famous Austrian Empress Sisi, who was a generous patron of the hotel's construction and known for her exceptional travelling lifestyle. In respect to the hotel’s rich history and tradition it will thus bear her name – Palace Elisabeth, hvar heritage hotel. The hotel includes 45 luxury rooms and suites with stunning details and unique design, an indoor swimming pool and multiple terraces.

Detailed Reviews
My wife & I were a little anxious about our short holiday to Hvar during the COVID-19 crisis but our concerns were immediately dispelled when we arrived at this wonderful hotel. It was clear from the moment that we arrived the hotel & staff had made all the necessary provisions to safeguard our wellbeing without affecting the beauty of this establishment. As this was our first visit to Hvar we had chosen to accept the private transfer offered by the hotel from Split Airport which was well worth it. We were met at Arrivals by our driver who took us to the ferry in a very comfortable car & because our flight had landed early he had already managed to secure us tickets on the earlier Catamaran for our journey to the Island. We were greeted by a member of the hotel staff to take our luggage to the hotel. On arrival at the hotel we were welcomed by the hotel manager with a glass of champagne. A complimentary bottle of local wine & fresh fruit in our luxurious room was a nice touch. Our pre-dinner cocktails were of excellent quality. We ate in the hotel restaurant on our first evening & the sea bass was delicious. The bed in the room was extremely comfortable & we enjoyed a very good night’s sleep. The bathroom & particularly the shower and Guerlain toiletries were of an exceptional quality. There was a good selection on the a la carte breakfast menu & all those that we sampled were excellent. We enjoyed the swimming pool & sun terrace which were very quiet. The next day we experienced the hotel’s complimentary private beach club which is a few minutes walk from the hotel. This is an exceptionally well appointed facility & the crystal clear sea was very inviting.
Just a couple of suggestions which could improve this already exceptional 5 star hotel are to provide tissues in the bathroom & perhaps a turn-down service. However, we are already looking forward to our return visit to this fabulous hotel & island.

Loved this hotel, luxury 5 star all the way. Recently renovated and under new management, the rooms are a decent size with Juliette balconies overlooking the sea, triple pane windows helped keep the noise from the outside low. Food was some of the best I have had and the service was impeccable.

Our family are avid travelers and have stayed at many top hotels around the world. The Palace Elisabeth is a standout and really exemplifies what 5-star luxury means. During our 2-week trip through Croatia, this was by far the best hotel in service, style, location, and just overall ambience.
First off, the hotel is situated as a jewel right in the center of the harbor in Hvar, as if the entire town were built around this one fabulous hotel. We were met at the ferry port where all our bags were handled immediately when we stepped off the ferry. Entering the hotel, the lobby is beautiful and the staff are extremely welcoming. The rooms are beautifully appointed and just have so many little extras that make you feel like you're somewhere special.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the breakfast, which is served on the beautiful terrace area and was hands down the best hotel breakfast we had in Croatia and ranks among the top 5 for us in all our travels. The spa and pool are also gorgeous, although we all kind of laughed at the fact that the pool has this awkward hidden "ramp" entry once you get in the water and pretty much everyone who got in the pool literally did a hilariously graceless tumble down into the deeper water.
If I had to fault anything, it would be that we reserved two rooms - a larger seaview balcony room for us and a nonbalcony seaview room for our daughter, but the larger balcony room's view was obscured by the historic tower in front of the hotel and as a result, my husband and I ended up using the smaller room because it had a much nicer unobstructed sea view. Not a big deal overall because we absolutely loved our time spent at the Palace Elisabeth and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious stay in Hvar.

Absolutely LOVED our stay here. The hotel is sexy, elegant and beautifully run. Staff is a bit formal but completely professional. Room was a bit on the small side, but extremely tastefully done. We had a partial water view and the room was bathed in natural sunlight most of the day. Indoor pool opened to outdoor sun deck was very jet-setty, although pool temperature was freezing. Towels were plentiful as were the cocktails that came from the nearby bar. Breakfast was included in our rate and was all made to order. The dining area was chic and comfortable. Our rate also included chaises and umbrellas at the nearby Hvar Beach Club, a real treat as it was simply gorgeous. Hotel enjoys a prime location inside the old town, but be warned—vehicles are not permitted and a porter from the hotel must meet you to transport luggage by golf cart. If arriving by car, you will need to park in a public lot and walk to the hotel entrance. This was not communicated to us prior, and made for an extremely stressful first impression. Thankfully, it was all uphill from there. My only regret is that we were only able to stay for two nights. Honestly, it was so beautiful, I could have stayed a month.

My friends and I recently had the opportunity to visit Hvar. We were staying at a separate villa but came to the Palace Elisabeth for lunch and to book spa treatments.
All 5 of us booked treatments with Mario, at the Elisabeth Spa for massages and wraps. It was an amazing experience ! He was extremely professional, and made us feel immediately welcome and comfortable during the massages. And after 5 in a row still wasn’t tired ! Would highly recommend.
While waiting between massages for our friends we were able to relax and use the pool facilities; everything was beautiful, clean, relaxing and amazing scenic views of Hvar port.
We also had lunch upstairs on the patio. It was truly a white tablecloth experiences with beautiful plating and delicious food. The staff were friendly, professional and personable.
We hope to come back every summer and next time we’ll likely stay here instead of our villa!

This is a true luxury hotel, with exceptional service from a very attentive staff. A high point was a special celebratory dinner they organized for us on the private terrace overlooking the harbor. The room was lovely with a priceless view of the harbor city and sea, and the bed extremely comfortable. The breakfast was superb - best eggs Benedict ever. The massage at the spa was super relaxing. The beach facility is a 10 minute walk away, private and also with attentive staff. I’m looking forward to returning.

It is important to acknowledge that the hotel is by far the most luxurious hotel in Hvar and sits in a very central and bustling part of town.
Having said that, everything else about the hotel has (a lot of) room for improvement. For a hotel that has been open since 2019, there are some shortfalls and inconsistencies that are just difficult to understand. For example the bizarre light set up next to the bed that just will not go dark at all, and the shower’s floor seal that will not work and ends up flooding the bathroom whenever someone hits the shower.
Service was generally well intentioned, but not really 5 star for the most part. The only exception would be the breakfast team which were outstanding throughout.
My biggest issue has to be the Management team. I had an issue with check in, in which I was assigned a room that did not match my reservation (or so I thought). I booked a “Premium room with sea view and balcony” only to be placed in the room in the attached picture. After I complained about it, they said they were full and nothing could be done. So I decided to leave the hotel and go elsewhere. My Travel Agent contacted me saying he had worked out an alternative with them. A few hours later I head back and the room I had booked suddenly became available - though the Managers were sticking to their ground saying I did have a premium view before. Don’t you just love those Croatian miracles? And no apologies or anything after that, just lots of rolling eyes around.
The handling of this issue was really very poor. The Front Desk Manager told me that “people come here not for the service, but to enjoy Hvar and nature” and that really did set the tone for the whole stay. Their goal was to just do the bare minimum and get away with it.
Bottom line: if you can splash a few extra Euros to stay here, it will probably be your best option in town if money isn’t a problem. But if you are looking for a relaxing 5 star experience, the good thing is that Greece and Italy are just a few minutes of flying away, and there you can really find good service.

Known for its beauty, picturesque landscapes and crystal clear waters, Hvar is definitely a must for anyone’s bucket list. And this hotel doesn’t disappoint whatsoever, in fact, it’s the definition of pure luxury, relaxation and exceptional service all in one.
Excited to experience this 5 star hotel, we were welcomed with a glass of Prosecco and a free upgrade to the Imperial Suite upon checkin - absolutely stunning! The entire team were impeccable, always smiling and offering their assistance. You felt like you were the only guests there. The suite was very large accompanied with a huge balcony overlooking the town square and the wonderful promenade. The minibar included essentials such as water, juices & soft drinks as well as coffee/tea which were all complimentary. In fact, we found waiting for us in the suite a bottle of local red wine ‘Plavac’. The breakfast was fantastic, with an a la carte menu and all items being delivered to your table directly. The free access to the Beach Club Hvar with sun beds, towels, umbrella and table really gave you the privileged feel as the beach was absolutely gorgeous and the sea just perfect. All the elements of this hotel are simply perfect, from the Guerlain bathroom amenities to the exclusive furniture choices, you definitely won’t be disappointed.

We LOVED our stay at the Palace Elisabeth. The hotel is gorgeous and is conveniently located right in the center of the Hvar town area right by the water and the ferry port. When we stepped off the ferry from Split, someone from Palace Elisabeth was ready to take all of our bags and transport them to the hotel for us (even though it's a short walk!). All of the staff were so kind and helpful throughout our stay. And the location really is perfect -- you can walk right outside and you're in the center of the best restaurants and bars Hvar has to offer (but I never heard any noise or disruption at the hotel, which is great).
The included breakfast was PHENOMENAL. The staff were so fantastic, providing outstanding service and offering special treats like local oysters. All of the breakfast food was delicious and fresh, with so many great options. And the view from the breakfast terrace is beautiful, looking right out over the sea.
Overall the hotel was so lovely and luxurious and we really enjoyed our stay. I would absolutely stay at the Palace Elisabeth again. My only comment about the room was that I personally would've loved a darker blackout shade/curtain option, as the sun rises quite early this time of year. But that's a small detail that in no way overshadows the rest of this gorgeous hotel and its fantastic service.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful from both inside and out. Positioned just off the main town square in Hvar and overlooking the port and Adriatic. The rooms were richly appointed and our large balcony on the top floor provided a spectacular place to relax and talk and enjoy the scenery in the evenings while listening to wonderful live music being played just steps from the hotel.
This was our third of 5 hotels for our honeymoon and it was truly one we fell in live with. The swimming pool while completely covered is indoors but open air and steps from the rooftop patio for subbing and relaxing. Our service by the wait staff at the pool area was perfect and made our time poolside even more relaxing and fun.
The bed in the room was among the most comfortable my wife and I have slept in. We both travel extensively for work and stay at nice properties across the states having racked up a combined 1187 Marriott nights and so we know a true gem when we find it. This hotel is a true gem!
We love to get out and explore and soak up the local culture and this hotel is steps from everything so we experienced 8 different restaurants in our three days/three nights and that doesn’t factor in our full day excursion island hopping.
I could not more highly recommend this property and certainly recommend making sure you book a 4th room so you have a wonderful balcony to spread out and enjoy the cool Hvar evening air.

What is the pool area like? I know the pool is indoors but is the lounger area nice?
The rooms are very well sound proofed, the windows are very well sealed as well, I wouldn't worry about it at all
I have never used the safe but I'm sure the reception will keep all your cash and passport safe just make sure you get a receipt. Enjoy Hvar I'm sure you will.
The rooms are awful. They would have to gut the hotel in order to ensure that the rooms were passable. If you look at all of their responses, they are canned and they did not change from one response to another. This is a telltale sign of just how bad this place was. Trust me - cancel and go with Airbnb. I have told dozens of people to stay away from this property. DO NOT GO.
Hi.. you have 10 clubs for 1.5 minutes around the hotel.. And the Hvar is small city so everything will be riched within 5 minutes
