Really liked this boutique style hotel. Great breakfast and recommend to also try their dinner menu. Rooms modern and walking distance to Shuhe Ancient town (note, this is not the UNESCO Lijiang old town but also very nice). Reason for 4 out of 5 was the fact that there were dogs barking at least half the night which made sleeping difficult. Wifi was working fine and staff was friendly although they speak little to no English. But that wasn't a problem at all.

We stayed a total of 4 nights while in Lijiang. The location is in a nice quite neighborhood a short walk away from Shuhe old town. The Old town is fun to walk around in with numerous good restaurants. The food at the hotel is also very good. Our room was very well laid out with a small balcony that overlooked the courtyard. Staff was very friendly. A very relaxing place to stay.

Arro Khampa in Lijiang is a very beautiful hotel, very quite with a perfect location close to Shuhe old town but with a beautiful view on the mountain. The hotel architecture is very nice and the room well decorated. Our room had a beautiful terrasse. The food was also delicious, highly recommend the Tibetan noodles! We had the chance to meet the hotel owner, who was very war and welcoming, so was the hotel staff.

We made a last minute call to Arro Khampa after our tiring visit to Shangri-La. We were welcomed by almost the entire squad in Arro Khampa in the middle of the night which really surprised us. This hotel is delicately designed to what we think will be the liking of travellers who want a peaceful environment after a long journey. It does not has too many rooms but contain almost everything that are needed for a traveller. The tea serving room as well as the cultural center are definitely a plus point to Arra Khampa. They are quite delicately designed to give a peaceful environment. The dog Na Cha never disturb you and is obedient for most of the time. The food is also good with great service but you should inform the kitchen in advance to the taste of your liking. We pre ordered food we prefered which is rather plain compared with the food in town and they tasted really good. Breakfast is also complete with varieties of english breakfast. Bravo to the kitchen of Arra Khampa. This hotel is a short distance to Shuhe old town and a short Didi trip will cost RMB 8 at most will take you to this old town potentially be as touristry as the Dayan town. The only thing we think Arra Khampa could improve is the provision of hot air coolers in the rooms upstairs as the cold wind entering from the roof could be chilly at night although the bed and floor are heated. My son drawn a picture of Na cha and told me that he will come back again....

Arro Khampa was certainly the best hotel during our trip to Yunnan. Though the hotel is not large, we were provided by everything we requested and even more: starting from receptionist awaiting for us as we arrived far later than midnight and ending to small pleasure things we discovered upon arrival: complimentary water, cookies, wide range of amenities). The hotel itself has its unique character in terms of exterior: mostly natural materials were used, it is full of air and light, has plenty of attractive details. The rooms are spacious, modern, with a design twist but at the same time remaining very usable. The area of the hotel is also very welcoming, we fall in love with the hotel bar, where any kind of spirits could be found (we particularly recommend to try home-maid plum liqueur), and a small garden, just a perfect place to relax. The breakfast is less various than one you can find in a chain hotel, but everything is so fresh and delicious, both European and Asian style dishes are offered. Do not hesitate to try local noodles and a in-house cake served for breakfast. We also had a dinner there, it was super delicious, a great variety of Tibetan specialities, but the servings are really huge, leaving no chance to try everything. But the main jewel of the hotel is its team, English-speaking, efficient, ready to assist you with all your needs and providing you with all kind of tips.

Stepped into a tranquil, artistic ambience. Koi pond as the centre surrounding the modern yet traditional huts. Staff welcomed guests with white scarf (the tradition of welcoming well valued guests), great tasting hit ginger tea and in house grown walnuts. Recreational rooms for guests to cultivate appreciation for tea making and drinking, Zen teacher to consult and indulge in some solo/ relax time. Room was upgraded to a lovely suite on second floor. Comfortable bed, cozy room. Breakfast was simple yet delightful. Service was immaculate; aircon was centralized so since they are not able to accommodate to my request for a lower temperature (one of the staff immediately offer to bring up standing fan to my suite - no lift, stairs to second floor) Quiet location. Took a 10 mins leisure stroll to ShuHe old town, enjoyed the village ambience. Well reccommended!

Our family stayed for four nights in late January 2019. Our room (a deluxe family room), and the hotel in general, was very comfortable. Also, the hotel's quiet location only a short walk from Shuhe town centre made it ideal. The staff were very helpful and made us feel particularly welcome, arranging not only pick-up and drop-off at Lijiang Airport but also providing suggestions and information for day tours beyond Shuhe. The breakfast provided each day was delicious, especially the Yunnan noodle soup. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on one evening which was also very enjoyable. Our experience of the hotel was exceptional but it was the hospitality of the staff that was particularly noteworthy. Would we stay again? Most definitely.

Upon arrival we felt at home. The staff met us and took our luggage quickly to the lobby. As noted in other reviews, the ginger tea is the first warm and welcoming experience. The staff speaks excellent English, and are very friendly. The hotel has a wonderful feeling with wood all around, and warm heated floors. The rooms are modern and some in our family had balconies looking over the calming courtyard. In separate structures connected by patios, you can enjoy tea, or have a drink at the bar near the wood burning stove. Shuhe is a short walk down the road, and we were glad to have stayed there instead of Lijiang, and Lijiang is a short taxi ride anyway. The hotel provides a great experience as they are happy to facilitate your taxis or activities too. If you want a warm and welcoming hotel with a local experience, yet modern, then the Arro Khampa is the right choice.

I stayed here for three nights recently, and I can echo some of the sentiments already voiced here. It's a beautiful hotel with wonderful hosts in a great location, with just a few small issues that do not really affect the overall experience. The Tibetan manager (his family has other hotels elsewhere in China) is fluent in English and German, and - especially because this was the off-season - had lots of time to offer help and advice. Some of the other staff speak English as well, so communication is not a problem at this hotel, unlike in other places in China. The rooms are lovely and well-equipped. Mine had a nice shower, a bathtub, and a large bed, plus more than the standard extras you expect in a Chinese hotel (not just free water every day but also Coca Cola and cookies, plus stuff like a razor, toothpaste etc.). The only problem in the room was the thermostat, which didn't seem to work properly - this was mentioned by other guests, both here on Tripadvisor and during my stay. There were few guests - I was there around New Years - so it was quiet and calm, but even during the main season this would be a peaceful vacation spot. The teahouse and outdoor seating areas are great places to sit and relax. The breakfast was nice enough, but in terms of food/drinks, I absolutely loved the ginger tea they make for you at the reception, and I was a big fan of the fresh local fruit they had sitting out every day by the entryway. When you use the tea house, make sure to ask for the fancy tea they have; Yunnan is of course known for its expensive tea. From the room, I looked at a small hill, which you can climb easily from Shuhe. Shuhe itself is a small town that's less crowded than Lijiang but also offers wonderful shops, quaint alleyways, and nice views of the mountains. The center of town is an easy 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. From the town to Lijiang it's only about 10-15 minutes, either by taxi from Shuhe (about 20-35 RMB, but depends on where you go in Lijiang), or by No. 5 Bus (1 RMB) from the stop very close to the hotel. The hotel also allows you to rent bikes for 40 RMB per day. I took a functional bike (they'll get more modern ones soon they said) to Baisha, another somewhat touristy but still lovely town about 4-5 miles away. The Lijiang airport is about 50-60 minutes away, the cab will cost you about 120 RMB. Overall, a great stay, and I definitely am planning to return to Yunnan and Arro Khampa.
