I enjoyed my visit here. I came during the off season so I was the only guest but they did not cut any corners for me. I had a full range of choices and activities. I stayed with their two night package, included Piranha fishing, Cayman hunting, a visit to a village and dolphin watching. I had a. Excellent guide that was fluent in English.

Excellent lodge located right on the side of the water.
The guide (we had Anderson) was excellent - spoke good English and Portuguese and was very well informed about everything we saw and did.
The activities were well planned and held twice a day. The ranged from hikes, to boat trips and Piranha fishing.
The food was delicious and there could not have been more. We left stuffed after every meal. There was free bottled water and the other drinks were reasonably priced.
The rooms were well equipped and simple and we slept well for the entire stay.
We would love to come back in the future.

I visited Arowana Lodge in September for 4 days and 3 nights. I booked the place via booking.com based on great reviews on both booking.com as well as trip advisor...and I was not going to get disappointed.
Everything worked perfectly from the time of booking until my return to Manaus. I was contacted by Jair straight away after I booked my stay to confirm pick up time in Manaus. He was very kind and a lovely person to talk to - he picked me up at 8am and left me at the Manaus port to start my journey (I paid my stay with him by credit card using a card machine he brought with him - completely hassle free) to the lodge. Everything worked perfectly, 1 boat ride of 30min, 1 minivan ride of 90min and another boat ride of 30min - I arrived at the lodge by 11am, fantastic experience.
The lodge in itself was simple but very comfortable. I was given a single room with 2 beds and a private bathroom (no hot water, but believe me you wouldn't even want warm water in the stifling heat of the jungle). The room also had air con which was extremely handy when taking a nap after lunch to cool down from the heat.
We were given 3 meals a day, breakfast lunch and dinner - each of the meals was outstanding, offering a range of vegetarian and meat dishes as well as fruit, desert and soft drinks. Water was included in the daily rate as well to be able to stay hydrated. Beers and other soft drinks could be purchased.
My group existed of myself and a lovely Spanish family - and our guide Francisco (Chico) took us out each day in the morning (8-12am) and afternoon (3-6pm). We did boat trips into the nearby river territory, watched out for birds and other wildlife, fished for piranhas and trout, hunted for small caimans, learned about local life in the Amazon, visited the local school, and also meet Chico's family and how he makes ends meet in his daily life of giving to and taking from the nature surrounding his house. We also did a jungle walk where we learned about how to survive in the jungle with what nature provides us. It was not only very personable but as well extremely insightful and a wonderful and unforgettable learning experience to spend 4 days with Chico. He was a wonderful guide and I thank him from the bottom of my heart for this life changing experience. I learned a lot from him, I learned to appreciate the simplicity of life in the Amazon and I reflected on the ability to be happy with simple things.
Both Jair and his brother Piro in the camp were fantastic hosts and I cannot recommend highly enough to choose Arowana Lodge for your jungle experience in the Amazon should you pass through Manaus. I appreciate it's not cheap, but it's worth every penny and you will have a great and unique experience of insight into this remote region in the Amazon basin.

Guides & Jungle experience:
The guides Marcos and Grinaldo of Arowana Lodge are really outstanding! They are absolute experts in spotting animals and truly committed to giving you an unforgettable jungle experience. They catch caymans with their bare hands at night, find the most hidden animals such as tarantulas under a root etc.. Marcos speaks very good english. Any Jungle or Manaus related question you may have, Marcos has an educated answer. Absolutely fantastic.
Lodge:
The lodge is simple (as you would expect in a jungle) but with sufficient comfort.
Rooms are spacious, yet with rather simple furnishing - its an eco-lodge not a resort.
Food buffet is excellent although not too much variety - breakfast is alright.
Groups are small and the place is sufficiently remote to not overlap with other tours.
The lodge has great familiar spirit: It is the people of the river neighborhood who run it and take care of cooking, cleaning, etc. so by going there you also contribute to the local community.
Highly recommended - great place to disconnect (no internet, no phone)

I highly recommend the Amazon Arowana Lodge. It is a truly special place to explore the Amazon. The lodge sits on floating logs on the side of a beautiful river flowing river! My college aged boys and I stayed there for 4 days during the World Cup and it was an amazing experience. The location is a perfect. You depart from Manaus on a boat ride across the meeting of the waters, than it’s a beautiful car /boat ride through the jungle to the lodge. You are greeted by the superb staff. The tour guide Ralf speaks perfect English. He has lived in the area all his life and knows the jungle like the back of his hand. He has encyclopedic knowledge of plants and animals, as well as jungle survival techniques and medicinal plants! He took us on three to four trips per day.. early morning boat tours, hikes in the jungle, night time boat treks to see caiman. He is a master at spotting animals in the forest, like he has a sixth sense!! We saw dolphins, monkeys, snakes, sloths, and much more. The lodge itself has very comfortable accommodations, with air conditioned rooms with private bath. And the FOOD! Wow, the chef is amazing. She prepares three delicious buffet style meals every day using local food with fresh natural ingredients. SO GOOD!! The whole lodge only holds about 8-12 people at a time, so our experience felt very personalized and not touristy. That is exactly what we were looking for. The rate is somewhat higher than some of the other tours out of Manaus, but actually, it's a great value for the wonderful food, service and lodging! Definitely, worth it!! highly recommend the Amazon Arowana Lodge.

Amazing trip to the Amazon. Our guide Anderson was fantastic and taught us a lot about the Amazonian flora and fauna. The area is beautiful and unspoiled. We saw many animals including sloths, monkeys, dolphins and alligators. Anderson even took us out at night to see the alligators. Although rustic, the rooms are very comfortable and clean. The air conditioning worked well and there was plenty of hot water. The staff are very friendly. I highly recommend this very special place.

Amazon, the largest green area on the planet with the largest variety of fauna and flora, with a unique weather. So, forget everything that you visited to this day, the hotels where you stayed. You can't compare people, who were born in Amazon jungle , the own life style with any living standard and amenities you have in the city. Having said that, essential to understand the experience, I can recommend the Arawana and justify my evaluation. The hotel has some huts on land but you can stay at the social área also, a floating raft in the river Parana do Mamori. Each time a boat passes, this rarely, the small waves make cracking the walls. As soon as you get into it will enjoy the passage of boats. The heat is suffocating, but you can jump in the river anywhere from the hotel. The river is clean and you can see the fish swimming near the kitchen (arowanas). The lodge food is very simple, varied and excellent. Meat, fish, fresh salad, desert. All very simple in local style, but tasty, made with care. In fact, what you will need there is to drink a lot of water and you can receive free how many bottles of mineral water you want. The room is modest in the style of the houses in the region. Clean enough, spacious, with air conditioning. The bathroom is small, but everything works properly. The water is cold and you will regret that it is still not colder. The water is taken directly from the river. So you take showers with river's water without the piranhas can seep through the plumbing. There are no insects that bother. You can get minimum clothing and sandals all day and even at night. I did not spray never repelente. The rides are amazing in a fisher boat (aluminium), in the quiet Amazon. Most of the rides are inside the Lake Tracaja. Don't expect to see many animals there, but gradually they are appearing (most birds). The mammals are rare, because Amazon is very large and the animals avoid to be near humans. Breath deep because such air does not exist anywhere else on this planet! Local people, guides, employees are all very good. They are themselves in their rain forest pace. You can see pink dolphins and other smaller dolphins (TUCUXI) always swimming around the hotel. The tours include games to see birds, hiking in the forest and meet unique plants and some medicines. Fishing piranhas also, riverside community and maybe something you want to see and can be located by the Guide. To leave the hotel, back to "civilization" you know that you've met one place where humans can be good and the planet is not lost. Try it. Enjoy the experience.

There are so many choices of where to go for an Amazon adventure - after viewing many of them on line, we decided on Amazon Arowana Lodge. It was perfect for us. I like a rustic experience - my husband likes it a bit more fancy. Arowana was the best of both worlds! We were picked up right on time at our hotel in Manaus and driven to the river, where we boarded a small boat (along with our luggage - we had a lot as we were going on a cruise at the end of the week). Once we were on the other side of the river, we were picked up in a VW bus and drove about an hour to a small river for a fast 1 hour boat ride till we got to Arowana. It was pouring rain, but we were met with umbrellas and help taking our things to our rooms. The rooms were small, but extremely clean, and the beds were very comfortable. Each room had great AC and we could return to our room for a refreshing and cool rest. The WiFi throughout the lodge was great! After a wonderful homemade lunch we went out exploring with Thiago, our English speaking guide. We saw so many birds and butterflies as we explored the small rivers near Juma Lake. We even had an iguana fall out of a tree in to our small boat! During our time there we saw birds galore - including the hoatzin - incredible bird! We went fishing for piranha, saw caymen, pink dolphins, fresh water grey dolphins, large schools of fish, visiting a turtle farm, and enjoyed everything the area had to offer. One of the best parts for me was going out to the dock at night, when all the human noise was over and just listening to the sounds of the Amazon and enjoy the spectacular stars in the sky each night. Get up early and go out to the dock for a spectacular sunrise!
The staff spoke no English, except for our guide, but they were all extremely helpful. Our boatman was wonderful, the cook made delicious meals for us and the staff kept the entire Lodge in great condition. Meals including fish, chicken, and/or beef, noodles, rice, an assortment of fresh vegetable and fruit. The meals ended with a delicious homemade dessert.
My only regret in this visit to Arowana Lodge was that we didn't book a longer stay. We saw a lot and did a lot, but a few more days would have been great! We all highly recommend staying at Amazon Arowana Lodge for a wonderful Amazon experience!

Our trip to the Amazon jungle was great overall. The lodge provides full board, rooms with air conditioning and private bathroom, a swimming pool and very warm, friendly and helpful staff. Our room had a river view and my parents had a forest view. The decor is simple but everything is clean and spacious. The food was fresh from the kitchen for all meals with local culinary and exotic flavors. All the tours were included and we had a couple of very knowledgeable and experienced guides, Glaucio( who also cooks) and Renato, both were also really kind and helped my mom who has difficulty getting on and off the boats. Sr. Jair, the owner, is very nice with all guests and gave us wonderful tips and advice both before and during our stay. I'd definitely recommend this lodge to anyone who wants to explore the Amazon jungle and want a pleasant and safe place to stay.
