By the end of our stay, we were on a first name basis with several of the staff. The room and amenities are first class. The restaurant's rotation and range of menu was a real treat. The access to the rope-tow, on-site ski shop, and Apres happy hour snacks and beer are other convenient thoughts.
My wife and I recently spent 5 nights at the Rustler for a skiing vacation. We cannot say enough great things about our experience. The room was spacious, comfortable, homey and clean. The bathroom was large, very clean and had great water pressure. Even the soaps/shampoos/lotions were memorable. The staff was extraordinarily friendly and courteous. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we had a positive experience. Even more kudos to the dining room! The food was fantastic, especially the 4 course dinner. The homemade soups and breads were extra memorable. An extra shout out to Vicky, one of the dining room managers. Every time she was working she came by our table to chat, make sure we were satisfied, and just assure we were having the best meal possible. Also, on the first day I had to go over to the Alta ticket office to pick up our lift tickets. It was snowing heavily and the shuttle driver was kind enough to take me there, wait until I completed my business, and bring me right back. The staff were VERY conscientious about COVID protection policies. The hotel is right on the ski slopes of Alta for an easy ski in/ski out experience. Also, the lodge had a Powder House Ski Shop on the premises. This was the 3rd season my wife had been looking for new skies. Up to this trip she hadn't been able to find a pair she liked enough to purchase and had become frustrated and confused by all the choices and technical talk of the sales people. The staff here was incredibly helpful and able to talk with us in easy to understand terms. A couple of days and she found skies she really liked. They even gave her the option of buying the demo pair at a big discount if she so chose. We could not of been happier with our stay. We will be going back to The Rustler Lodge and looking forward to our return trip. Don't miss out!…
I can't say enough about Rustlers. It is one of my favorite places to stay anywhere. It is expensive but worth it. We've been going periodically over for over 25 years and it is unquestionably the best place to stay- wonderful friendly staff, great food, beautiful dining room and bar, great pool and hot tub - the only bad part is having to leave, and waiting to return.
We have been at the Rustler several times and ski a lot in Utah and Colorado so I can reliably report on what is undeniably the best ski lodging experience in existence . Once one shows up ( easy shuttle ride from airport ) everything is looked after. Ski rental is in the building as is the outdoor hot tub, heated outdoor pool and the spa for massages. Buffet breakfast daily and three course sit down dinner plus dessert is included in the price of lodging . Ski in and ski out with ski locker Rope tow at the base takes you to main lifts The hotel has its own chairlift ! Hotel bar Laundry Library and games room Friendly staff Complementary snacks around 5 Extensive selection of skis for rental Can bring your own wine for dinner, corking fee We have stayed in Mountain View rooms and in lower level rooms . All good , as mostly one just sleeps in the rooms Remember to book your dinner time before you come for the first night or 2. Book your massage ahead too. ALTA is a great mountain , ski only , and the Rustler makes it even better. Can cross over to Snowbird at the top and ski there too. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Rustler. It takes all the annoyance factor out of the ski trip so you can enjoy the skiing without the fuss factor. …
I have had the privilege of staying at the Rustler several times in recent years, and the first time was way back in the early 1970s. It remains at the top of anyplace I've stayed anywhere in the US or Europe. Do not hesitate to treat yourself to this ski in/ski out experience at Alta. In spite of the Covid challenges, staff and management provided a very steady hand in 2022 to make this winter as good as all the others. I appreciated their vaccination requirement and felt safer as a result. The food is excellent, the bar is an oasis, the pool/hot tubs always a good temperature, and the in house ski shop will rent you all the gear you need. Leave your skis at home and rent quality skis that match the conditions during your stay. Make the Rustler your Alta home!
