The hotel is within walking distance from JR Namba Station (about 6 minutes) and right in the middle of 2 Osaka metro stations on the Midosuji Line, Namba (M20) and Daikokucho (M21). Good location. Lots of shops and eating facilities around.
Nice and friendly staff. Good breakfast from 6.30 till 9.00 in the lounge downstairs. Not the most cosy setting, but still, the Japanese style breakfast is delicious and plentiful. The lobby is equipped with a washing room, vending machines, pc/printer, newspapers,... The rooms are not gigantic, but big enough. Everything you need is available in your room: watercooker, TV, wifi, refrigerator, airco,... Bathroom is as it should be: small, but clean and good shower. Check-in time is quite late (4PM) unless you're a Toyoko Inn Member, than it's 3PM. Check-out is quite early at 10AM, but it appeared to be quite the standard all over Japan.
If you travel in/to Japan more than once, consider getting the Toyoko Inn member card: earlier check-in and after 10 stays 1 stay is free.

A few days before my arrival, the hotel emailed me asking if I needed a wheelchair-friendly room. This is fairly odd as I've never gotten such messages from the chain before. While I declined, they still gave me that room anyway, which was absolutely wonderful as it was the size of 2 rooms with a huge bathroom separated into a shower area and a toilet zone. This hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the Itami airport bus which is across the street from Namba station, with a number of restaurants and a grocery store within walking distance. There is a Sukiya beef rice joint across the street.

Having stayed at several Toyoko Inns in the past, every hotel has been immaculately clean, very convenient and very well priced. Toyoko Inn Osaka Namba was no exception.

Having landed in Kansai airport, we wanted a hotel close to Namba within walking distance of train stations, and the Toyoko Inn at Namba fitted the bill nicely.
We caught the Nankai railway from Kansai to Namba Nankai station, and from there it was a leisurely 15 minute walk to the hotel.

Check-in is quick and easy. The front desk clerks, as with most hotels in Japan are very welcoming, courteous and helpful. They spoke a moderate amount of English, and certainly more than enough to get a non-Japanese speaker through the check-in process. With my limited amount of Japanese fluency the process was simple. We were already Toyoko Inn club members from our last Japan trip, so check-in was ultra smooth.

On checking in ameneties such as extra razors, towels and washcloths were available, and we were even given an extra pillow for our daughter, who was sharing one of the twin beds.

The rooms were exactly as we remembered them. Very small, but immaculately clean, and quite comfortable for sleeping. The twin rooms consist of two beds, with very little space around them, a rack on the wall for hanging clothes, a fridge, kettle, dehumidifier/purifier and a bathroom with the usual accompanyment of toothbrushes, and soap, shampoo and conditioner. All for around $90 for a twin room, including breakfast, is pretty good value, even if the room is tiny.

The breakfasts served at Toyoko Inns are basic, but included with the cost of the room, so it's hard to complain. There was a selection of onigiri, miso soup, salad and potato salad, teeny tiny pork sausages and plain rice. Along with coffee, milk and juice. All of this is served in the small hotel lobby, so if the hotel is busy as you can imagine this is quite popular and can become quite crowded.

There are a couple of tips and caveats with staying at a Toyoko Inn that you should be aware of:
*Toyoko Inn membership costs 1500yen per person
* If you aren't a Toyoko Inn member, check-in time is 4pm, and they strictly abide by this. Luggage can be left in the corner of lobby, and it is protected by a foolproof space-aged security system consisting of a net..with bells on it..draped over the top of the bags. If it was anywhere other than Japan this would be a concern.
* Toyoko Inn members get their check-in time bought forward to 3pm.
* If you choose an "eco plan" you get a small discount, but your room doesn't get cleaned. As a result however, you can come and go throughout the day as you please.
* If you don't choose an "eco plan" you have to leave your room during the day, and aren't permitted to re-enter it until your check-in time (3pm members, 4pm non members).
* Toyoko Inn members get a photo ID card which streamlines check-in considerably, and members get a 5% discount on 6 days a week, and a 20% discount on Sunday. The discount on a single Sunday in a twin room usually saves more than the cost of the membership in just one night's stay.
* Children can share a bed with an adult at no charge, but they don't get any extra pillows or ameneties (unless you get a nice conceirge like we did :-D)
* Toyoko Inn has an English website allowing bookings for non-members 3 months in advance, and member bookings 6 months in advance.

All in all, Toyoko Inn's offer fantastic value, ultra convenience and are invariably spotless. Definitely worth a look no matter where you're staying, and I thoroughly recommend giving the Toyoko at Namba a go. You won't be disappointed.

I just want to add some more information regarding direction to the namba toyoko inn.
After you follow the sign for central gate 2f,you will be on a busy street with a 4 ways intersection traffic. This is the part which I believe will confuse some travelers as which street you should enter inorder to find the gymnasium which many previous hotel guests had mentioned.
Just look for MacDonald which should be
on the corner to your left,if you stand infront of McDonald, you should see The Fraser's Residence on the right side of the street, now you are on the right track.
Just follow what everyone said about seeing a gymnasium on the left and after that you will come across another intersection, with a family mart across the road and toyoko inn on the left.

Booked hotel via their website. Prices are good considering hotel accommodation costs an arm and a leg.

Room was spotless. Design and decor are almost identical in every toyoko inn branch. We stayed at three toyoko inns during our trip to hotel and it felt almost like walking into the same room.

Service was friendly. If you arrive early, don't expect they will have a room ready for you until it reaches the checkin time which i think was 4:30pm. But you could leave your bags in the foyer and they will tag it for you and put it under a net. Staff spoke and understood basic english (which was rare to find)

The foyer is very tiny (compared to the other 2 toyoko inns). There is a computer with free internet access. Toyoko inn offers free breakfast everyday... this branch was a bit more different to the other two in that the cook made yummy fresh daily pastries and mini bread rolls each morning (as opposed to a more japanese rice triangle roll - which was also delicious). In the morning, you may not get a seat for breakfast (because the foyer is so tiny) however you can stand around and there are standing height level tables you can put your breakfast on. Don't forget to fill up your water bottle before you head out for the day.

Dont forget to try the restaurant around 2 stores down (walk out and turn right). They have the yummiest udon I had during the trip (we had to go back one last time before heading to the airport). The restuarant name i can't remember but it had the word "duck" in kanji. Order the large cold udon - its delicious. Forget the small size as you will be ordering seconds because its so yummy.

The hotel is around 10 mins walk from the station. its on the less busy side of nanba but close to all the action. Its about 15 min walk from the 100 yen shop and there is also an alleyway around the 100 yen shop that sells kitchenware.

There is also a supermarket nearby (which i found amazing as we hardly saw any supermarkets in Japan) if you want to stock up or bring some stuff home. Convenience store is like 2 minute walk.

The twin room looks exactly like the photo on:
http://www.toyoko-inn.com/e_hotel/00054/index.html
But the lobby foyer is NOT the one in the above webpage

The room is a lot comfortable than it looks. Bed is a 2 double beds, the bathroom is small but the water in the shower is strong which is really good after an exhuasting day,

Stayed in Osaka for 3 nights at this hotel for approximately 75CDN per night. What an amazing value it was.

The location: 5 minutes walk to the nearest subway station, 10 minutes walk from nearest JR station. 7 minutes walk from Dotonburi, 10 minutes walk to Shinsaibashi street. This is based on a young healthy 25 year old couple. Everything else is accessible via subway. This makes Toyoko Inn Nanba a perfect home base for exploring Osaka.

The hotel: nice hotel, never been in other Toyoko Inns, but if they are like this one, then they should all be great. Staff spoke passable English and it was enough to get us everything we needed. Free breakfast in the morning and two computers in the lobby to access the internet and stay connected back home.

The room: small room as per rest of Japanese hotels. Impeccably clean and hard but comfortable beds. Free LAN access and cord in room and a computer monitor as a TV screen are all placed on a desk that takes up about a third of the room. You can hear people talking in the hallway but we did not experience any noise from adjacent rooms either because their was none or the walls were thick enough to prevent it.

Recommended for: Everyone who is looking for a good value hotel in Osaka in a nice location.

Not Recommended for: Travelers who can not deal with small rooms or hard beds.

Overall, you can't beat the value here. The hotel is cheap with a great location and exceeds expectations when you talk about how much you paid for it.

Travel tip: If arriving via Shinkansen (bullet train) to Shin-Osaka station, most individuals will have a tendency to take the JR because they already have a pass. But if you have a lot of luggage, this can be a pain because you have to transfer from Shin-Osaka to Osaka station, then take the Osaka loop line to another station and transfer to the final JR train which takes you to this hotel. It is easier to take the subway from Shin-Osaka station to Namba station via one direct route if you want less of a hassle.

We landed at Itami after a long flight from California via Tokyo airport and just spent the night here before going on to Osaka. This was our first time in Japan and we had no trouble. The airport info desk told us where to Change money and then called this hotel for a shuttle as it was late. The hotel was quiet and clean. Rooms were tiny. We ate their wonderful traditional buffet breakfast without needing any English translating then took their shuttle for less than 5 minutes back to the airport to catch our bus to Osaka

This was a very convenient location - Namba is one of the main hubs of Osaka and we got on the Nankai Airport express train and came straight to the Namba station for 890Yen, 50 minute ride. If you catch the limited express train it is 1400 with reserved seats and better air conditioning, and a 40 minute ride. For a 10 minute difference, the less expensive train was fine. Once you get to the airport, look for the Nankai line and buy a ticket from the attendant who can tell you which train and time you need to get on. Once you arrive at Namba, head to central gate 2F, and turn right toward the gymnasium/fitness center. It is about a 5-10 minute walk from there.

Hotel itself is very clean like all Toyoko Inns and quite small. We stayed for 6 nights in a double, non smoking room. Hubby is 6' tall and fit ok on the bed with me (I'm 5' tall). Suitcases have to fit under the bed, there are no drawers to store anything, and only 4 hangers to put up your clothes. A/C works really well and the bed was firm and comfortable. Pillows are buckwheat on one side and a regular pillow on the other. There is a hot pot in the room with two types of tea and a small refrigerator that you have to turn on to use. Japan is voltage friendly for the US folks, however, it is only a 2 prong plug on the wall. Bring a 2 prong adaptor if you need to plug in your 3 prong laptop. Outlets work fine for iPads and iPhones that are a 2prong plug.

Breakfast was ok - we were used to Japanese breakfasts at the other Toyoko Inns so this was a bit of a disappointment. Fluffy croissants, fresh baked rolls, jam, margarine, and cold scrambled eggs with a green salad. they also have a decent coffee. Every other day they switched the eggs out for some sausage - it was ok. Across the street, we found a small restaurant named Sukiya - and they served a good salmon, miso soup, and rice breakfast for 480Yen. We had our croissants then went to eat miso soup with salmon.

100Yen store is also across the street as well as a family mart about 100 yards away from the hotel. Good location to travel to Kyoto, Mt. Koya, Nara from the Namba station.

We booked this hotel, not to visit Osaka, but just to go to the airport.
From the outside the hotel looks a bit old, but inside everything is great.
Our room, a twin, was big, compare to some other Toyoko twin.
As usual you have free wifi, tea, aircon, television.
The free breakfast was also delicious with great croissants and all sort of breads!
The hotel is also well located, not so far from JR Nanba which give an easy access to the airport.
Further more there is a really big supermarket just nearby with great prices!
For the ladies we receive a small set with beauty products.

So if you go to the airport this toyoko is really great!

Reserved a room for 3 people over the phone--only on arriving did they inform us that they had no rooms big enough for 3. They instead required that we book an additional room, nearly doubling the original cost.

The reservation lady and people at the front desk spoke excellent english--so I suspect this is intentional bait-and-switch rather than an honest mistake.

Yes. But the hotel room is very small which is what you can expect in Japan. You will have to stuff your luggage space below the beds. :)

Since you will be staying in Osaka for another 3 days, suggest you stay in town (Umeda or Namba) agreed someone suggested " Hotel New Hankyu ", free shuttle for hotel guest, time table also can be found in website, in fact I wanted to book but was under renovation, (50% of the guest room)
