The hotel is only a few minutes walk from Yotsubashi subway station. But if you arrive from Yotsubashi exit no. 4, you will have a long staircase to negotiate, which is not so convenient for guests with luggage. I found out later that Nishiohashi subway station is just as nearby and their exit has an elevator! So if you are arriving with luggage by subway, you really should consider using Nishiohashi station exit number 4.

The hotel staff is friendly and speaks okay English. Breakfast is good. But strangely for our room the taps seems to offer either very hot water or cold water, no warm water. Not only is this uncomfortable but it makes the toilet/bath very warm. There was no wardrobe in the room also, just a rail with hangers.

But all in all, for this price at this location, we really couldn't ask for more. I think this is a very good hotel for business people and backpackers.

I stayed in Toyoko Inn Osaka Shinsaibashi Nishi twice, it is really good, small but enough. It is just 1 minute walk from the No.4 exit of Yotsubashi Station, and the staff can speak English, no difficulty though I do not speak Japanese. The breakfasts were like other Toyoko Inns, simple but free. I always find it a big bargain to stay in Toyoko Inns, they often offer promotions.

The price is fair in Osaka which is near 心齋橋.The receptionists cannot speak English. Suitable for ppl who has limited budget. Just suitable for business trip or low budget travel as the hotel can provide a clear environment for living only as the furniture are old but clear. But it is good enough if you plan to sleep for 8 hours and spend lots of time for shopping and sightseeing.

We have been to Japan many times. And we always try and search out a Toyoko Inn for our accommodation. They are always centrally located (very important), near transportion (subway, tram, etc.), very reasonable in price (usually less than $85), and always includes a breakfast. Yes, the rooms are small, but since you're going to be out and about during the day, you really only need a safe hotel with a good bed and bathroom facilities. And speaking of bathroom facilities: have you ever used a Toto toilet? This is an amazing toilet. You'll LOVE this toilet. And the pillow is interesting, too. One side is fileld with some type of "bead." Therefore, it's nice, firm and you can change the shape of the support for your head. This particular Toyoko Inn is about one minute walking distance to the nearest metro station. If I have to compare this Toyoko Inn to the one at Namba, I'd probably have to go with Namba because of its closeness to Namba station (an amazing place in itself-----shops, restaurants, metro stop, major train station). There's more going on at the Namba area. I thought the service, though, was better at the Shinsaibashi location. If the Namba one was all booked up, I'd have no problem staying at Shinsaibashi again.

I visited here in late Nov 2014. The hotel is just 1 min walk either from Nishiohashi station #exit 4 or Yotsubashi station #exit 4. It is a bit far to walk to Namba area. It takes around 10min walk pass through american mura area. There are convenient shop and ramen shop next door.
We are satisfied to stay here. It is in the standard of budget hotel and good service. The room is clean but old. They provide good and free breakfast (rice, miso soup, sausage, vegetable and coffee). The wifi is able to connect in the room but very very slow...Luckily we have own pocket wifi so it doesn't our concern.
Lastly, if you come with the big luggage. Try to take exit #4 of Nishiohashi station as it has an elevator. Yotsubashi station also have an elevator but the exit is further far from hotel.

I travel to Japan quite often, mainly to Osaka. A number of years ago I found this great hotel chain that is all over Japan. The Toyoko Inn chain offers reasonable rates, clean rooms and good service. The rooms all have the same look and feel to them. They have American toilets in their capsule bathrooms

You book online, they have various discount programs, such as an eco plan, if you stay more than 2 days, they give you discount for not cleaning your room. Sometimes if you book early online, they will give you a discount. The funny part is instead of crediting your account, they give it in coins!

They do offer a complimentary breakfast buffet, nothing fancy, high in carbs.

One of the small issues about the chain is they are usually not conveniently close to a train or subway station. So study when booking one of their properties.

I found the Shinsaibashi-Nishi property is very to get to. Whether you are arriving at kansai or itami airports, catch the airport limousine bus to the OCAT/Namba bus station. When you get there follow the signs to the subway (this is the hardest part of getting there) catch the blue subway (yotsubashi line) one station to yotsubashi. Look for the no. 4 exit. Go up the steps and that will put you right in front of a new Balance shoe store. Turn right and the hotel is a block and a half away on the left side.

The reason why I like this location is because it is close to several subway stations, it is about 5 minutes from Amemura Osaka's version of Harajuku, 10 minutes away from Shinsaibashi shotengai (covered shopping center) 15 minutes from the dotonburi.

I have stayed at various Toyoko Inns around the city but find this one the easiest to get to and centrally located!

Stayed in a non smoking double room. The claimed "Queen" size bed seem smaller than queen size suppose to be. not so comfortable for 2 adults and a 2.5 old toddler but manageable. Will prefer a king room if available.

The room is clean but a little old especially inside the toilet. The aircon is not cold. It doesn't seem to maintain the temperature we set. The aircon unit stop functioning mostly when fan is turn to low and it becomes very loud when it is on high.

Hotel location is very easy to find. Either via Nishiohashi, Yotsubashi or shinsaibashi station. All 3 stations has got elevator which we like as we have a stroller and a toddler. Nishiohashi being the nearest but need to change line for namba Nankai station. Yotsubash is next, it is one station away from Namba but is at least a 15mins walk before reaching Nankai train platform. Shinsaibashi is further, 8mins from exit 17 to hotel. We walked to shinsaibashi suiji, dotombori shopping area for the 2 days stay. Airport access is cheap only 980yen via Nankai plus a subway to Namba.

The kitchen staff(male) is very friendly. And amazingly, he speaks fluent English. So much better than the reception counter staff. We were glad and thankful for his help with some direction advises given.

If you ever stayed in any Toyoko Inn hotel before, you need no reading up on what to expect. They are consistently good, clean and affordable - like clones.

This particular one which we stayed during the last week of November autumn peak 2011 was situated behind the main street. Not easy to locate for 1st time visitor to Osaka.

It is a very long walk from the main Shinsaibashi shopping street (20 minutes) and even further from Dotonbori (25 minutes), the food street. If you have old folks or fussy young kids travelling with you, this is not the ideal hotel as the long walk to 'civilisation' may be unbearable for some.

Excellent for room quality but average for location.

If you haven't stayed in a Japanese business hotel before, the room will seem very small but that's just standard unless you want to pay much much more.

You have everything you need (including free WIFI and Japanese style breakfast) but would recommend earplugs due to the lack of sound proofing.

Good location near the subway and convenience stores. Popular with Chinese tourists so try and avoid the groups at breakfast time so that you get a seat.

Just like other Toyoko inn, its a very standard and clean hotel.
The reception counter speaks very limited English (when compared to the reception at Shijuku Toyoko inn).
Excellent location for shopping.
