We came from Amanfayun and stayed here and it felt like heaven! The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The food was delicious and breakfast spread was good. They have a great library and lots of little treats which are so thoughtful. It’s a really generous hotel. The location isn’t an issue as taxi/Didi is really cheap and very convenient to just ride a car everywhere.

Great hotel at a great price. I stayed here with my wife and child 2 nights. Rooms were clean, internet was fast, good selection of shows. Best tv shows during my entire china trip. Also good set of books at the lobby library. Staff were very nice. Breakfast had good selection of food and drinks. My toddler loved playing with the staff and playing at their indoor playroom. Overall great stay. Really good coffee and snacks. Best bang for your buck.

Stayed here with my family for a quick trip to Hangzhou and was honestly sad to leave! One of the beat hotel stays I’ve had. For the price, the hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and accommodating. Loved the lounge areas and children’s play area. Breakfast was great. There are good restaurants nearby- we walked down to a restaurant and had the best duck ever! Will make this my new go to hotel.

This hotel came recommended by our host and it surely didn't disappoint. This is probably the best hotel I've ever stayed in in China. The room is spacious, modern, well equipped and super clean. But best of all is the service - warm, efficient, and the team goes well beyond their call of duty to make the guests feel special. On top of all this, each room has local teas for the guests to sample, and those are really good teas - must try.

Perfect condition. Room very big and beautiful. Love this hotel. I didn’t travel around next to hotel so I don’t know if they have any convenient store or not. But this hotel is worth the price. Very impressed.

Stayed at The Nook for 1 night when I travelled to Hangzhou for work. I was glad I choose this property as it was very clean and the staff were very friendly. Free soft drinks in the mini bar and chips in the room was a pleasant surprise. The bar on the top floor is very cosy and the barman is very friendly and speaks a bit of English. Breakfast in the restaurant on the ground floor has a choice of set menus to suit the taste of the international as well as the Chinese guests. The hotel staff was kind enough to call for a taxi as the road in front of the hotel was under repair works and taxis were avoiding that area.

I booked this charming boutique hotel on the internet when in China. Rating was good but my experience of a 3 nights stay was just simply delightful and my rating of this hotel is - superb.
This is a 71 room hotel. The exterior architecture is just very simple, low profile and not loud. You actually might miss this hotel if you're travelling along the road. I was on business so I did not get a chance to really explore the location although I am told that it's in the vicinity of the West Lake. I missed that. Anyways, the moment you enter this hotel and at the lobby you probably feel like you're in Japan. The interior design is distinctly Japanese/ Chinese and I was informed that the interior designer is from Hangzhou. The ambience smells of Lavender. The wall photo is covered by ripped glass throughout. Looks and feels very clean. Just by the lobby ( inside) are bicycles for guests of the hotel (not sure if you need to rent ) but a welcoming idea especially during fall when temperature cools down ( it was 42c last week) you will want to go for a bike ride. The reception was well managed with 3 English speaking very pleasant staff. No hassle to check in. My reservation was for a king size bed and my friends had 2 double bed room. Apparently my room costs a few dollars more because the size is slightly larger than a regular room. At Can$ 135 night it was a deal ( breakfast included). Don't expect to see flood lights or a large lobby as with most hotels. Remember this is a boutique hotel. Small and very cosy. The elevators worked fine but I thought it can get some interior improvement ( probably well used ). I was on the 6th floor and the room facing the road ( but the building is set back quite a bit and I did not hear one honk ). You will know that when you enter the corridors some hotels have that musky smell. Well, the carpeted corridors here are pleasant and very clean. Just like a Japanese inn. Boy, my room was something else. With very very simple Japanese influenced interior decor and I was just blown away (similar to another hotel I stayed in Foshan this trip). Clean lines, no hideous wall pictures, hard wood flooring in light colour matching the furniture. No glass cups, all Chinese tea cups and a cute circular shaped coffee maker. You will notice soon enough that the bed mattress and linens are of superior quality and very clean and comfortable. Listen people, this is a unique hotel. The bathroom and toilet are in separate cubicles and designed with grey granite and granite finishing. I will describe it as elegant with soft lighting and rain shower. By the way, you will notice that the room slipper bag and laundry bag in the drawers are printed " no complimentary ". And a price tag on the toiletry bag. Otherwise, use them when in the room, it's free. Only one thing is missing - the safe - as I guess the security must be great. I slept very well during my 3 nights at this Nook !. Surprise surprise when you go down for breakfast. Remember this is a small hotel. The breakfast is not served buffet style except for the starters ie coffee, fruits, congee and condiments and bread. So here comes the lovely part. You get served on your table an order sheet where you can order home made Shanghainese breakfast Tim sum. The menu is not large but you will want to have the delicious dumplings with various insides and Shanghainese 'cats ears' . All dumplings. Serving is small like 2 pieces each for a single serving. But, guess what, all the Tim sum items are freshly made - steamed as you order. What a great idea ! You can order as many small servings as you wish or even all on the menu which you probably will not finish. The cutlery in Chinese style ( no forks and spoon ) ( no cereals either ) glazed plain jade colored tea cups - plates etc. You feel like the emperor being served eating in a really cool Japanese/ Chinese designed dining area ( simple not loud). O you can also have fried eggs and toast with the usual jam and butter. Hmmmmm ! . I just enjoyed my 3 breakfast meals and frankly I could eat it every single day.
There is a small gym at the basement - a small bar on the 7th Floor ( highest floor) and a small eatery in the basement. Small and quaint. So the bar I think needs a better ventilation system particularly when 3/5 smokers gather to pollute the air. Yes that's what the owner will need to do. Improve the ventilation at the bar or make it a non smoking bar ( in China ?). The room service menu is pull pork burgers and very selected items. They are not really geared to provide room service menu - small kitchen ( I bet ).
So it was really nice and I enjoyed the stay very much. My rating : 10.
This hotel is owned by a lady and they have 2 x 200 rooms motels in Hangzhou.
Visit Hangzhou in the fall and stay at the Nook!
Have a great day!
Cheers
Ron

Attracted by the stylist design of the lobby and simple design of the room, this newly open hotel provides friendly and warm hospitality.
Arranged early checking in to me per my request, i was warm welcomed by Yoyo from the front desk.
The room set up , fixture and furnitures used are very good value at this price point. They Use all wooden floor, desk and vanity desk. The bathroom amenities they Use r made in china but labeled as organic products. What amazed me the most is the bedding~ quality bed sheets with very soft n warm feather duvet. The feather pad placed underneath is also very good too which made the bed feel like heaven . I got very gd quality of sleep during my stay !
Hskp team is also very helpful and arranged fruit plates to me during turndown.
It's a bit far away from the West lake area ... at least took me around 20 to30 mins for a cab ride. But it is closer to the Wetland park ...lingyin temple and longjing tea area.
So it would be a gd option if your itinerary is going to wetland park or the lingyin temple.... perhaps another accommodation option for the day planned for West lake .
Of course you cant expect fawless service or zero dust in the room or compare it to luxury hotel. But this hotel is very comfy n i definitely will recommend it to my friends. :)

Once in a blue moon, you discover a mind blowing hotel that you desperately want to keep it as a secret all to yourself; The Nook Hotel in Hangzhou is definitely one of such hotel.

Our Shanghainese friends highly recommended that we stay in the peaceful and tranquil XiXi Wetland 西溪湿地 region of Hangzhou, away from the bustling city area and we found this gem of a hotel thanks to TripAdvisor and Mr Google.

It’s a good half an hour drive from the over crowded West Lake area and it all worth it. The Hotel is inconspicuously built into the side of a brand new SOHO complex occupied by the fame AliBaba groups of companies (I suspect) and numerous food and drinking joints which I suspect spring to life after sunset. The mountain facing rooms offers a refreshing view and the gorgeous and impressively new looking ZheJiang University is just diagonally across the complex.

This boutique hotel has a pleasantly Scandinavian wood centric design that’s so refreshing in increasingly concrete filled China which renders an extremely homely feel the moment you u step into the cost lobby and rooms. Checkin was world-class smooth and efficient and the Front Desk really rose the occasion later on.

The rooms were amazingly spacious and very well put together with a classy yet homely feel. The bathrooms were equally spacious and our King size deluxe room was equipped with a luxurious huge bathtub with room for a couple. Unfortunately, lighting in the granite based shower stall were inadequate especially at night and in the Single room even during daylight. Amenities were well stocked including complimentary mini bar in the fridge. Beds were superbly comfortable with a choice of pillows. There was a local brand version of Amazon Alexa or Google Home, I suspect but it stubbornly refused to pair with my iPhone even for speakers function and there were no instructions.

The top floor bar and lounge area has been replaced by new suites and rooms but there remains a cosy self service lounge area but guest to partake of their BYO wine and snacks indoor or outdoor by the pool area.

We open the fridge only to be flooded by really pungent Durian smell left behind by very irresponsible previous guests. Mind you Durian is my favourite fruit but when the whole room smells of stale durian, that’s a whole different experience!

I called the Front Desk to fixer the problem and perhaps sent up a room scent diffuser set (Yes, the have it in the room amenities upon request) only to be told it’s loaned out! Surely they should stock more than one set? Fortunately, the Front Desk performed a swift service recovery by offering us complimentary breakfast the next day. I highlighted that we have booked 2 rooms and they pleasantly said, “No Problem”, free breakfast for both rooms!

After a restful night sleep, we woke up to a decent breakfast buffet spread with freshly made Shanghainese dumplings and noodles made to order. The dumplings were as good as some of the best we had in Shanghai!

Our checkout was seamlessly smooth too and we all wished our weekend sojourn from Shanghai was longer.

Will definitely return the next time we visit Hangzhou!
